quitegoodpub food. nothing fancy here. this is a brewpub withgoodbeer, reasonable food (i've had several meals here - no dogs yet), and a completely casual atmosphere. no surprises in either direction. popular food, done well, and reasonably priced. i'll be back.

probably the worst brewpub experience i’ve ever had was courtesy of capital brewing company. first of all, it took forever to get seated, despite the fact that the restaurant seemed to be half empty. strike two, a lot of their beers were empty, the ones that they did have were mediocre at best, and they were overpriced. the service took forever and the food was a bit on the chilly side when served. all of this stacked up to create a rather blah performance. the two bright spots were the location – a beautiful old building that must have been a bank or something judging by the vault by the entrance – and the flavor of the food. the meatloaf was prettygoodand the onion straws on top complimented the saltiness well with more salt. original review the restaurant itself is extremely promising, but it didn’t deliver in any way, shape, or form. i believe th

though it has been in the district many years, i am now realizing why people like hanging out at captiol city brewing company afterwork.   captiol city brewing company offers patrons a spacious atmosphere with plenty of flat screen televisions to watch the latest sports craze.  there is a large circular bar which anchors the restaurant to give all patrons plenty of room to mingle.  on my visit the restaurant hosted a tapping party and the featured drink was fuel beer , which i decided to give a try.  the description was intriguing where the ingredients did not add up, so i had to try it to see if such a combination truly existed.  the taste was very unique where they nailed creating a beer with a coffee undertone.  agoodbeer, happy hour, and an entertaining atmosphere? enough said.  i will return.  the beer paired alongside the capitol city wings with golden barbeque sauce was just what

great lunch spot. my friends and i stopped in for a late lunch on a saturday and enjoyed the big, lively bar area. the pretzels and dip were terrific. i had an excellent salad with seared tuna--it was big, fresh and very tasty. service was verygoodas well. i also enjoyed a great seasonal beer.

during our recent trip to washington dc, i convinced my fiancee to have lunch with me at capitol city brewing's brewpub. captiol city brewpub is located in a prime location downtown just a few minutes away from the white house. after doing a lot of walking all morning, we were in need of agoodmeal and a few pints! food and service the main options on the menu are pizza, sandwiches/burgers, and a selection of entrees mostly centered around steaks and seafood. since it was lunchtime, we both decided to go with the hickory burger. before deciding on a burger, we asked our server few questions about other menu items. however, our server responses were not very helpful because her answers were mostly yes and no with no real information about the food. when my fiancee asked about the hickory burger our waitress said "it is one of our most popular items." we asked her to describe it, and she basically recited what the menu said. we both decided to order it based on the menu description whic

never a bad experience. my wife and i have eaten at this brewery about ten times in the last year. we've both been very happy with our food every time we go. the free warm, soft pretzels you are served with every meal (in place of the same old bread basket) are always something to look forward too as well. there's something about that horse radish dipping sauce that makes you crave more.

for being a brewery, the selection is prettygoodtoo. i prefer the capitol kolsch and the amber waves ale. they have season brews that are excellent to try if you enjoy sampling micro brews.

for the entree's, she enjoys sticking to some of her favorite choices like the ahi tuna steak sandwich but i try to sample different items every time. i have almost half the menu wiped out and i have always enjoyed everything. hitting up the brewery during the happy hour is an excellent way to try the appetizers for a great price. the turkey sliders are a personal favorite for us.

lastly, you can't go to the capitol city brewery and not get dessert. the monumental brownie is a must have on any serious dessert lover. you want to try this place!

from a former dc resident. i though this place was really good. i had never been here when i actually lived in dc (ok, montgomery county md) but was really impressed with my recent visit. the place was pretty empty, which probably accounted in part for the quick service. but our waiter was friendly and helpful. there are so many complaints about the service that i have to assume they have some real issues at times, but not what i saw.

i thought the atomic wings were excellent. no, they werent all that spicy. but they were meaty and crispy. if you like them hotter, i am sure they had extra tabasco.

the beers were very good. so were the salads and burgers. i wouldn't go too far off the burger type foods at any of these kids of places.

i am curious about those who referred to the place as a tourist trap. really? i could see a before/after a game joint and friday happy hour for sure. but tourists wouldn't naturally fall upon this place the way they would like the hard rock.

to sum - i liked it.goodburgers, wings and beer. i don't care what the rest of the menu was like.

the beer isgoodbut not great, and the food is average. the whole experience was undone by the terrible waitress who seemed to be inconvenienced by the fact that we were there to eat. i would make the trip to falls church to go to dogfish head. they have some of the best beer in the us, and the food is better.

this is a fine microbrewery, the beers where of a high quality and delightful. they lack variety in their beers, mostly american pale ales, which weregoodbut i would have liked more variety. highly recommend the kolsch.

its ok. it is what it is... the pear salad is canned pears served with blueberry vinigarette - decent. the crab cakes are ok, the tuna appetizer is also just ok. there was too much aoli for my liking (it felt as if they were trying to cover up the taste of the fish) the beers aregoodthough! the hefewiezen was great!
