cafe haven

nice little cafe. their food is healthy and wholesome and they have agoodselection of coffee drinks and teas. their parmesan edemame beans are to die for.

cozy, warm cafe withgoodfogs and decent food. nice place to sip on some warm drinks and relax. food and drinks were good. they make their own vanilla syrup for their drinks in-house which was nice. one thing i did not like (note: this is one of my pet peeves) is how the place is not vented efficiently and your clothes & hair have a strong food smell stuck on them once you leave the place. other than that, it's a cute cozy cafe you can visit in the sherwood park area

local coffee shop. stopped for coffee and breakfast. was hoping for a fruit and eggs option to go. no luck. so an almond rhubarb muffin will have to do. unfortunately all the almonds are on top and not one piece of rhubarb inside. staff are friendly and attentive while pre cooking eggs for eggs benedict ( not sure if that is agoodidea) seating area is worn with mismatched furniture with the old bank vault still in tacked with a table for eight inside.

i have never had a worse experience. 

the place was packed and we couldn't get a table, so the cashier told us we should order our food once we found a seat. after waiting half an hour, a table opened up and we took our seats as the table was being cleared by a staff member, and we finally then ordered our food. ten minutes into waiting for our food, the same staff member that had cleared our table earlier told us the table we had seated ourselves at was reserved and we had to vacate. at this point there were no more tables available so we were stranded once again. we decided to get our food to-go - we wasted agoodhour for nothing. the staff were as unhelpful as can be, and the service was just terrible. 

the food was okay, but the lack of customer service will deter us from ever coming back.

the onlygoodthing about it is the decor. cafe haven makes you hopeful when you walk through the door, a well equipped kitchen, well lit space and cool decor, especially the vault which you can enjoy a cuppa in (haven used to be a bank). but the coffee is sub par at best under the new ownership and the staff left something to be desired. the espresso was terrible, i didn't even finish it, it was just unpalatable, acrid and sour. my gf got a traditional cappuccino and she was in the same boat, leaving about half the drink unfinished. oh, and the staff wanted to charge me double for a half regular half decaffeinated espresso. i've never had a place charge me double for half and half. they said doing half and half would leave them with an extra espresso shot. i would understand a markup but double? show some accommodation. or they could have shown some problem solving and use the extra shot in my gf's drink.
on a side note i remember the drip coffee being quitegoodunder the old owners.
i would love to see this place go under new new ownership, its a great space and sherwood park desperately needs moregoodindependent and alternative shops and eateries. desperately.

it's changing. with new ownership a few of the things that made cafe haven great are slipping. we went for brunch on the weekend and our heuvos rancheros was vastly different than before. less food, no guacamole, three flimsy little store bought pita slices. a big disappointment.
i don't think we are the only ones to notice, the place was not even half full which was unheard of at brunch time in the past.
having stated that, it is still the best coffee place in sherwood park but the luster is fading. the quirky staff is stillgoodand the coffees taste great bit something is missing.

awesome cafe. this is an awesome spot. great product, prettygoodservice, and nice atmosphere.

the beverages are great. the sandwiches are prettygoodbut a little pricey for what you get. most of the deserts are fantastic and a great value. you have to try the butter tarts. the service is alright, better at times, worse at others - seems to depend on who you get. they do get busy and it can get a little cramped up by the ordering area so you'll likely get to akwardly wander about with others if you aren't grabbing a table.

if you're in the area it's totally worth checking out.

great coffee but really, way too pricy for the amount of food. i mean, we paid $12 for a stupid and dry bagel and ut was so small that i know we will be hungry again in 45 minutes. if you want agoodand big breakfast go somewhere else.

poor value and quality. i had lunch today for two people, for $31. we received two very, very small open faced sandwiches that were difficult to eat and did not presentgoodvalue. for the second time, the coffee i purchased was cold. even tim horton's can manage to serve a hot cup of coffee. never again..

a very positive experience! staff were very friendly, helpful, knowlegeable and a verygoodsense of humor the food was great and selection was the same. i was at a private function and the selection of beverages, both alcoholic and non- alcoholic was great. the organizer of the private function was able to request other beverages to be available as well. they had beers from australia, czechoslovakia,as well as some blueberry & cherry beer. overall a great night and experience made possible by the fantastic staff at cafe haven! thanks guys/girls!.
