excellent illy coffee. their standard coffee is illy brand and it is excellent. i had the house coffee and my husband had the cappucinno, both were delish. we also tried the spinach omlette with creme fraiche-yummy! my daughter had the uncle andrew's scottish porridge and she loved it. my other daughter had the buckwheat pancakes which were perfect. they also have scones and croissants, which i've heard are great! we had dinner here on another occassion and it was good. the midtown location is very close to the zoo. i had perfect, attentive service as well.

cool restaurant, good food, variable service. i live in midtown & love the more eccentric restaurants of the area, so of course cafe eclectic was high on my list of places to visit. overall, i love the location, the ambiance was delightful, the food was excellent, but our service was only so-so. maybe you get better service if you know someone that works there, but i was dining at the restaurant in order to treat my dad for his birthday, so i was kinda disappointed when our service was less than stellar. our server was snobbish bordering on rude, and he paid negligible attention to our dining needs throughout the course of the meal, even though our family is replete with former or current restaurant staff & pretty much guaranteed to leave a lavish tip, regardless. overall, i'd say if you get a different server than ours -- sorry, don't remember his name anymore -- that you'd be highly likely to have a great dining experience based on the overall atmosphere & the great food .. just don't count on it if you happen to get one of the more elitist servers.

amazing peach pie. my fiance and i had dinner at cafe eclectic a few weeks ago. i heard about this place from several people at work and decided to give it a try. the decor is paintings, old tables and chairs, it is a fun atmosphere. our server was cheerful and sweet. i ordered the jj's patty melt and my fiance the herbivore wrap. he found their vegetarian selections to be somewhat uninspired. i ordered my patty melt medium rare, and when it arrived and i cut into it, it was absolutely raw in the middle. i called our server over, he put in a new order. less than two minutes later the manager came over, apologized, and said he would compt my meal. this was u nnecessary but very kind. when my burger arrived it was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious, like the kind of delicious where you have to force yourself to slow down. they use neola farms beef which is flavorful and delicious. at checkout we decided to get some peach pie to go, little realizing that the best surprise was yet to come. the peach pie was nearly indescribly delicious. flavoral, flaky, real peaches, not gluey or gloppy at all. i can't wait to try this place again especially for breakfast or brunch.

love it. i love cafe eclectic, and i actually haven't had too many service problems here. i'd call the service "laid-back," so don't be in a hurry. the staff is friendly.

the food is reliably fresh and delicious, both when i've eaten at breakfast and lunch/dinner, and seems to be mostly from scratch. everything i've tried has been great.

please get a donut if you like donuts. they are wonderful, as is the bread. the mayan cappuccino is an interesting adventure in coffee.

great food, awesome bakery, mediocre service. i've been here twice and enjoyed both times.

the food has been really good both times, the coffee is good, and holy smokes, the deserts were really good!

the service lagged a bit last time, but it could've been that we were a large group, hidden in an add on room at lunch time. anyway, the food was still good any way you cut it.

nice, relaxing atmosphere too.

interesting menu.

wonderful lunch!. i stopped in cafe eclectic for lunch on a friday at noon. it wasn't crowded and we had great service - no complaints here!

i enjoyed the black bean burger wrap and loved that they have vegenaise to make this tasty meal vegan! the food was delicious and the portions were very large for the price. i am glad to see a cafe in memphis have so many vegetarian options including a portobello sandwich and veggie dog in addition to the black bean burger or wrap.

cafe eclectic. local cafe with great coffee drinks, a genuine soda fountain. real gelato and a fine kitchen. great breakfast/brunch dishes, excellent lunch/dinner options like neola farms hamburgers, blt&a - a blt with avocado and their own in-house bakery with real bread. their espresso drinks are made with illy coffee, which is perfectly roasted and the whole experience is intimate and neighborly. i especially like the breakfast sandwich on a fresh, in-house baked croissant, and the sunday brunch bagel with smoked salmon, again on an in-house, fresh-baked bagel. the scottish porridge at breakfast is sublime - actually irish oats, and when they have chicken pot pie, it is made from scratch. and so local, this place is a midtown treasure.

eclectic describes it well. sometimes the service is as well. think with the summer season the proprietor would do well to offer a more varied menu selection; perhaps some cooler items such as lighter salads or a cold soup (gazpacho). other than that it's a fun and enjoyable place to socialize with a cup of coffee.

great food and relaxed atmosphere. went for breakfast and i had the granola and yoghurt - both very good - and a viennese coffee and orange juice - both very small, but good quality, taste-wise. the bakery counter was full and all looked really good. not a huge selection on the menu, but they had most of the main breakfast options covered.

nice atmosphere in there, but quite busy!

good food...terrible service.. i went here with my friend the other day. we were seated fairly quickly, and the restaurant wasn't that busy. however, after we were seated, we waited...and waited...and waited. it took about fifteen minutes before we were given water, and then another ten before anyone came by to take our order. our server even went to another table that had come in after us before us. it seemed like there were plenty of people working there, but whenever we needed help it took ridiculously long. all in all we were there almost two hours.

the food was good. i had a blt&a sandwich and potatoes. i thought the sandwich was particularly tasty; i loved the toastiness of the bread it was on. i also loved the selection of cane sugar sodas they had. i will probably go back, but only when i have the time to spare.

poor service. my wife and i just moved to midtown and were told that we needed to go to cafe eclectic for brunch. i was disappointed.

we understood that they were busy so we gave them a "grace period", we were sat pretty quickly, but it literally took our waitress 15 minutes to come by and get our order. the coffee we ordered came to us fast, but the combined wait for coffee and the waitress taking that order totaled 20 minutes.

the food we ordered was good but the waitress coming by to see if we needed anything didn't happen until after we were finished. we had a friend come join us and i gave her my water, went to the front to get her silverware and us all extra napkins, and eventually had to get the manager to get another water for us.

overall the atmosphere is nice, the staff is friendly, the food is worth eating, but the service isn't great and our experience with the waitress made my wife turn sour on the place.

i'm sure there are great servers there; we still even tipped ours. but if you end up with ashley as your service be prepared for the worst.

wow!!!. i was overjoyed!!!! extremely vegetarian and vegan friendly. hummus wraps, black bean burgers, veggie hotdogs, buckwheat pancakes, fresh fruit, old fashioned soda's without corn syrup, organic coffee. i loved this place! also nice to sit outside with your dog on nice days and enjoy the great food and friendly service.

this was technically our second visit to cafe eclectic with the monkeys (satchel, 5, and jiro, 3), but on our first visit, not knowing they had a food menu, we got coffee, juice, and an ice cream float to go. strangely enough, we ended up sitting in the v
