affordable and upscale. i've been here several times. every item i've ordered has been well prepared and served and the prices have, imho, been surprisingly modest for the quality received.

many of their baked goods are of a quality one would expect from a left bank patisserie. buttery and flakey... in keeping with their eclectic theme; however, they also offer the traditional favorites such as cupcakes and doughnuts and even these are carried off with flair.

the coffee selections offer something for everyone, even those with the most discriminating palate. it seems the baristas take great pride in their productions and it shows.

add this to an attentive, "hip" wait staff and what more can you want?

p.s. try the eggs florentine...

all in all, a very pleasant dining experience.

mixed review. i've been to cafe eclectic quite a few times....enough to form the opinion i'm about to state....the food is always very good....good menu...but the service is always lacking. it really gets tiresome hearing the same excuses for mediocre service. food--8, service--3. i've found this to be consistent.

too small cappuccino. very small cappuccino! it was mostly foam with a sip of coffee. i should have gotten a latte like one of my dining partners. that was huge. i wanted coffee because of the horrible draft each time the door opened.

the burger was wonderful, but the potatoes were on the burned side. the donuts were just ok. the bread pudding was great! (yeah, i had two desserts, so there.)

everything you want!. this place has everything. super cute atmosphere, a patio that welcomes dogs, free wi-fi, fountain drinks, ridiculous housemade desserts, great lunch and breakfast, friendly service! cheddar bacon scones are amazing. i also got a piece of the espresso chocolate cake last time i was there, omg. so good. the parking situation is annoying when it's raining or something, but that's a minimal complaint, and does not keep me from going there!

interesting dining experience. now i'm not one to bash businesses just because one thing does not go my way and rarely do i ever complain for any reason but today, oh today was one of those days my friends at cafe eclectic. since it was so lovely outside we opted for patio seating where we waited and waited and then waited some more. finally as we stood up to either make our way inside or to the car to venture elsewhere an employee rushed outside to say "oh your server is on the way." being the kind patient humans we are, we chose to stay where we continued waiting some more. to cut to the chase we were ignored for the most part, the dishes that we finally ended up ordering that they weren't out of were all wrong. again i'm not a high maintenance diner at all , but if you're going to be too busy to give my sister and i a little service by all means let me know we'll try you again some other day. better luck next time cafe ecletctic .

wow, that talapia was great!. i'm not a fish kinda guy, and so i always order it with trepidation. wow was i surprised . . . i like fish?! yeah, i like fish! this was great and the green beans and taters were like icing on a cake, or like the ice cream on the hot apple pie i had for dessert.

next time i'm going to try the cornish game hen. i hear it's even better. i hope i get there before they run out. thanks, café eclectic.

the veggie dogs are vegan, a big plus. tons of eclectic sodas, peach nehi!! had a veggie eclectic dog (features sauteed onions) and some chips. the roasted potatoes were amazing and my girlfriend had a black bean burger that was fantastic.

not a cafe, and not eclectic. don't be fooled by the name of this midtown cofee shop / bakery...it is not a cafe. the miniscule brunch menu also makes this place more of a cofee shop, which happens to serve some food. the menu included only a half dozen brunch entrees + a very very limited lunch menu. i had the breakfast wrap, which was the basic eggs, bacon, etc...but with some avocado added. what was not added were any spices or sauces. it was bland, and at $7.50 without even a single side item, i was still hungry afterwards. my wife had the eggs benedict, which she liked. this is the basic version, with no options for steak, seafood, etc....added. they likewise have only one single omelet option. the asparagus side was wispy thin and overly cooked...so much so that my wife thought it was canned asparagus, but i didn't think so. now the service...it took 40 minutes to get our breakfast. when they brought it, we didn't have any silverware, which took an additional 5 minutes. they also didn't bring our son's breakfast and seemed confused when we asked them twice for it (just fruit cup and bacon). it took almost 10 minutes b/t laying our wallet with a debit card on the table, to the point that we were able to pay the bill. so 1:15 minutes. the coffee was fine though, and the bakery menu looked adequate. bottom line is that you should only come here if you want to read the paper or chat over a coffee. don't expect good food (other than bakery items), good service, or an expansive menu. the atmosphere was typical midtown laid back coolness however. they do not serve alcohol, but do have free wi-fi. this place is similar to republic coffee with a weaker menu, equally bad service, and an equivalent atmospher.

notimpressed!. i have been waiting to try this place out, so since it was bday this week we decided to try it out...i must say i was really dissappointed. i was really excited about the soda fountain and the desserts..but our drinks were canned dr peppers unlike what the menu stated...the few items we asked about we were told they were out of.....the lunch/dinner selection was not really anything special or much to choose from, the breakfast menu does look promising. they only have certain ice creams and such on certain days but there is no daily routine of what will be on which day. i ordered the dagwood turkey sandwich, it was too large to take in a bight it was a huge slice of turkey a pickle hard bread and tom...they were out of lettuce....my friend ordered the mac n cheese that was supposed to have a panko bread crumb crust but it was bland and there wasnt anything special about it. i got a doughnut for the road since i saw the freshly made bakery items, it was ok but i wouldnt eat there again...oh and the school across the street let out just as we were eating and about 10-20 kids came in and ordered water or a doughnut paid in exact change as they knocked us and bumped into us sitting at the bar area, we were so crowded and disturbed we asked for our check and left. i think they should have a sign or a rule that kids should not be allowed in there without an adult...it was rude and annoying.

"cafe eclectic and staff, you suck". we have been to ce a few times since it opened and have enjoyed great food with very bad service. the wait staff overlooks you every time you go in, not to mention how many times they overlook your empty water glass once you even get your water. i even tried the drive-thru one time..., what a joke!!!! seriously, just close the drive- and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait!!!! we will never go back! sorry ce, we gave you 2 years and several chances! you blew it!!!

solid breakfast spot, fresh pastries. i ate breakfast at cafe eclectic this summer after driving all night to get from the outer banks to memphis on a cross-country road trip. we arrived at the restaurant just as it opened, exhausted, hungry and in need of caffeine. cafe eclectic did the job, with an excellent selection of teas, fresh croissants for breakfast sandwiches, and great fresh fruit. although not the best breakfast we had on our 6-week trip, it was a good find (kind of off the beaten tourist path in memphis) and we'd go there again.
