probably the worst burger i've ever had. after hearing about thisplacewe decided to try it out. $23.00 for two burgers and one small fries, and i was looking forward to a nice juicy burger.

what a disappointment! the meat patty was thin, very over cooked, and dry, a perfect match for the stale, dry bun on which it was served. it had all the flavor and texture of a piece of styrofoam with dash of dijon mustard.

the french fries were a actually good, but the quality of the burgers doesn't come close to justifying the price.

even if thisplacesomehow managed to stay in business, i will never go back.

-----25 may, 2014-----

i have eaten many hamburgers over my 63 years, and this ranks among the worst.

$23.00 for two burgers and one small fries, and mine was awful. the meat patty was thin very over cooked and dry, which matched the stale dry bun on which it was served. i ordered cheddar cheese, expecting it to be melted on the meat, but instead found pre - shredded cheese on the bottom of the bun. unfortunately, the meat was not warm enough to melt the cheese.

the french fries were good, but the quality of the burgers doesn't come close to justifying the price.

a very disappointing experience, leaving me with the feeling that i had been'ripped off'.

even if thisplacemanages to somehow stay in business, i will not be back.

i arrived shortly after they opened for the day and theplacewas empty. i was greeted by blaring music and the yelling of the guy behind the counter stating the menus were on the wall.
after reading through the order sheet and making my selections i went and handed it over. i kept my order pretty basic. the true test of a burger joint is their ability to do the basics. i ordered a bacon cheddar burger on the gluten free bun with a side of fries and bottle of water. i thought $15.80 was reasonable for a "custom" burger.
i watched as the patty was tossed on the grill and noticed that it was some pretty anemic looking beef. pale, barely pink, bordering on grey. the fries were shaken out of a plastic bag into the fry basket next. i went and had a seat at this point. close to 15 minutes later my name was called and i picked up my burger. i asked for my bottle of water and he barked that it was in the fridge. that was the end of my staff interaction.
i settled in with hopes of a brighter future now that my burger was in hand and i discovered the fries were in fact fresh cut. sadly the future was dull and bland. the fry portion did not warrant the $3.75 charge. it was served in a small takeout container. i bit into the fries, and yes they were fresh and hot, but the had absolutely no seasoning. who serves unsalted fries by default? fries need to be salted immediately out of the fryer to get it to stick. so i went in hunt of salt. there were several different flavoured salts available but i wasn't about to mess with those things.
back to my wobbly table, i unwrapped my burger and lettuce spilled everywhere from it. not fresh, green, leafy lettuce; but pre shredded, pale, borderline rotting, iceberg lettuce... i lifted the the bun top off to examine the contents and the lettuce was all the same. for one of my 4 toppings i had chosen dill pickles. or dill pickle to be more precise. there was a single slice of pickle on there. next i noticed how firm the bun was. this can be a good thing in the burger world. form buns tend to stay together better.
well i dove into my burger. i could barely bite through the bun. after i did i was met with the resistance of a very overcooked patty. slowly my hopes of the bright future completely disappeared.... bite of burger, swig of water, and repeat. it was all i could do to get it down. after 4 or 5 bites, the bun began to crumble. it reminded me of cornbread, but without the good flavour.
at this point i gave up completely and just moved back to my fries.
this is theplaceto go to if you want a dry, overpriced burger, in a noisy space, while the staff yells at each other in an attempt to talk. the constantly changing music, thanks to an ipod and staff with nothing better to do, is just an added annoyance.
if i am going to pay for a premium burger, i expect to be served a premium burger. an obvious attempt to mimic vera's in vancouver, thisplacefails miserably and should be avoided

raw and over priced. i had the unfortunate experience of eating food from burger 55 today. the onion rings were amazing and the toppings on the burger were great. unfortunately its a burgerplacethat can't cook a hamburger patty. completely charcoaled and burnt on the outside and totally raw in the middle. this is not edible food people especially if you are going to charge an arm and a leg for it.

you don't gotta eat here. you would expect aplacethat was so highly reviewed on television to actually try and live up to the praise. 5 of us dined there yesterday and all i can say was it was a huge waste of time and money. the staff are juvenile and really don't seem to care about food. the beef on the burgers was so dry and overcooked, the bun for the kids slider was rock hard, and the fries...well, i can't even really equate them to anything other than chewy cardboard. one person in our party actually got, and was charged for, 2 burgers though his order form clearly only had one marked and the staff offered no explanation or correction for this error. the best part of the whole meal were the kids chicken fingers, a sad statement for a burger joint.

your burger, your way!. i love the concept. you build your own burger the way you like it. it's easy to get carried away and create a monster that has so many extras you can't taste a damn thing. i kept it fairly simple and created a burger i know i like. double patty, caramelized onions, bacon, cheese, mayo and a few veggies.

the burger was great and as a whole, i enjoyed it, but it wasn't as tasty as i'd have liked, considering how messy it was! i am however, eager to try thisplaceagain and build something a little different and out of the norm as my choice of extras might not have cut it.

some will say pricey but it is comparable to eating out in a restaurant except it does have more of a hole in the wall atmosphere. theplaceis clean with plenty of patio seating. washrooms were also clean.

wait times are ridiculous and when i was there they kept adjusting the volume of the music (waaay too loud) and skipping songs... not cool.

next time i'm in kelowna i will drive out of my way to visit burger 55 again!

we ate at burger 55 for the first time today, and will not return. the service was terrible. we asked for, and were given, cups for water, but then could not find any either from the pop dispenser or anywhere else. when we inquired as to where we could get water, we were told that we could either use the bathrooms or the staff could fill them -but that they had to cook as well. the hot dogs were burned, and the buns were old and stale. management rudely responded to feedback, and eventually offered to give us back our money, which, given the rude reception, we refused. give thisplacea miss - we certainly will from now on.

not for vegetarians. shocked that all food (beef, turkey, fish, mushroom, bacon) is handled with the same cooking utensils. staff was friendly when this error was point out and offered to recook my salmon but the fact remains that this is their standard practice. definitely not aplacei would go back to, not sure how burger55 meets any health standards nor has won awards. very disappointed. yuck.

service conundrum. the business model has the potential to be great but alas the staff needs to switch from their current staff first/customer second mentality. additionally, when theplacegets busy they completely fall apart in terms of efficiency. this leads to long waits and cold food. if you see a lineup it's best to bypass this place.

had heard a lot of great things about thisplaceand was very disappointed...burger was what i would expect at a crappy concession stand, was greasy and tasted like nothing, fries were undercooked and soggy. staff seemed more focused on playing around the cooking a good meal. also was expensive for the food we received. defiantly will not be returning or reccomending.

not that great... hopefully an off night?. we were really looking forward to eating here after seeing the reviews but were sadly disappointed. the idea is amazing, you pick all of your own toppings right down to the bun. it's a littleplacewith seating outside, we sat filling out our clip board with the burgers we wanted once done we took them inside toplaceour order and pay. right after us there was a rush of about 15 burger orders and only 2 people working. after a half hour we got our burgers (there were 3 of us) and they were cold. we ordered one side of "hand cut fries", beer battered onion rings and yam fries. the fries were flavourless and soggy not salted at all, the yam fries were burnt and the onion rings were super soggy and there were maybe 6 small onion rings in the box. all 3 of us had the beef burger and they were super dry and burnt. the 55 bun was very good though. it was very overpriced for how much food we received and the quality. it was really too bad because we love little burger places.

burgers are good, fries ok.. went here last weekend with the family and some friends. took burgers and fries to go and ate them at the lake. theplacelooks like a burger joint from the 70s or 80s. love it. the burgers are great, but the fries were just ok. not sure if they weren't fried enough, but they seemed bland. maybe i'll try the onion rings next time. will definitely eat there again. i have been back a few times and have noticed that sometimes after handling the raw patties, the cook's hands are not washed with soap and water. a quick wipe of the hands and then on to the lettuce and cheese is not cool.
