bull city burger and brewery

i really like this place. i've been few times. the beers are great and thefoodis always delicious and perfectly prepared.

that was until my last visit. we ordered two very different burgers, one over easy medium and a custom eggless burger done rare. rare burger was barely pink and the over easy was less well done, but still not rare. the lemonade tasted like watered-down sour mix. the puppy bites, supposesly hush puppies with minced hot dogs and a bit of spice simply weren't good. they weren't spicey, the, cornmeal was gritty, and the minced hot dogs infused them with that tell tale chemical aftertaste of low-quality hot dogs. the cayenne honey was good. the pickle chips were fantastic. however, we were told that the taragon mayo they come with tastes just like ranch. seriously? obviously, it didn't, but that's a good thing because it's wonderful.

not sure what's happened over the last few months, but it seems like somethings have been allowed to slide in recent months. in the hopes things improve, i'll be back. at the end of the day, them burgers are still delicious.

everything is local and fresh! foodwas fantastic, freshly cooked to order, and taste was spectacular. i will say i did not go or order beer (not my thing). the house mustard was excellent and i loved the pickles too! since everything is local there was no tomatoes due to the season. i look forward to many more visits here!

farm to table....yes!. my husband and i went to bull city for the first time this weekend and loved our experience. thefoodthe employees all were top notch. thefoodis farm to table and sourced from as local as possible. the price was right on par with other quick serve restaurants ($6 for a three bean veggie burger).
ok my favorite part, and it is hard to pick, is that they serve puck's soda which is sweetened with cane sugar and contains no coloring or artificial ingredients.

just ok....was expecting more. after some of my friends just raved about this place, i came in with very high expectations for my burger. i went there for a quick sunday lunch, so i cannot comment on their beers (just went in for the burger).

burger was moist but was definitely underseasoned. the burger was cooked to the proper temperature. bun was ok. a friend of mine who came with me was also dissapointed in the duck fries (they were not thick cut at all and very thin).

seating is family style on these long tables with either wooden chairs or long wooden benches and you have to go up and order at the counter (they bring thefoodto you). they also don't leave out napkins, but provide one with your burger when they bring it out to you (which i thought was very stingy). just leave the napkins out on the tables for the customers to use if they need an extra one or if they spill something on the table.

so, overall, the burger wasn't bad, it's just not the elevated burger i was expecting from all the hype.

food good, service absent. thefoodand beer are excellent. the problem is the semi-self serve format.
1. no silverware is provided unless requested, which can be difficult when crowded.
2. one napkin is provided, tucked under the serving tray. god help you if you need more, which is often since the burgers are very juicy (a good thing ruined).
3. no table service. you have to wait on line to order, you are given a number (hardee's style) and thefoodis brought to your table when ready. you are not asked if there's anything else since if you want to order something else, like desert, another appetizer, another beer, you have to wait on line again.
4. friday nights the place crowds up after 5:30pm. people who have ordered hover over tables staring at those eating, waiting to grab a table. very uncomfortable and creates a "get the hell out of here" attitude.

while the beer is decent thefoodis terrible. the veggie burger tasted and smelled like dirty gym socks. won't be going back.

went here with beer drinkers and young kids and everyone was disappointed. the girl at the counter service was just rude. she made us feel as if we were inconveniencing her by expecting her to take our order. she didn't attempt to smile and when asked a question she would point at the menu rather than gracing us with her voice. the burgers were okay - not great. 5 guys have much betterfoodand service. as for beer - no one comes around to see if you want another, and we were so frustrated by the counter service that it wasn't worth asking for another. and a note for parents: the hot dogs are not kid appropriate. they taste like they've been salt cured and my kid wouldn't touch it (which is saying something)

it'll do, sometimes. i have been here twice. first off, don't go to this place during the normal busy hours unless you are willing to risk sitting with boisterous, cursing 18-24 year olds. they come en masse and can wreck a relatively peaceful meal because of the communal seating. both times, the same person has taken my order, and both times they were as unhelpful as possible. the beer is ok, thefoodis ok, but not worth putting up with the absence of any kind of service, not being acknowledged at the bar, and generally being moved in and out as quickly and with as little interaction as possible. i can only see myself coming here in a pinch.

excellent staff,food& beer. i love bull city burger & brewery. this place is further proof that keeping it simple is the recipe for success. i've been there three times and each time i've been as impressed with the quality of bcbb's uber friendly staff as much as the burgers and beer. keep up the good work!

so-so. the service and cocktails were great, but i really didn't like the food. it was prepared beautifully, however it's just not my taste. but, i loved their "main street margarita." in all fairness, i didn't have any of their home brew, which i think is required for a decent review. so, all i can really comment on is that the service was excellent, and thefoodgood. i'm just bored of burger joints, so that's the only reason i didn't rate thefoodhigher.
