i can't stop myself! food is awesome. service is great! brought a client for lunch and the pulled pork sandwich with side we both order he got the guac and chips i the romaine and mozz salad. delish!!

small little rotisserie, small parking lot parking in that area can be challenging,so be prepared to walk. both ordered the roasted pork sandwich, it comes with fresh tortilla chips and a wonderful tomato based dip. we shared the 3 side special and were amazed at the portions, yellow rice and beans-yams and andouille- and the romaine mozzarella salad...probably should have shared the pork sandwich. waiter was attentive and had impeccable timing throughout the entire meal. will go back to try their dinner fare.

brasa serves comfort food inspired by the creole cooking traditions of the americas and caribbean.all menu items are gluten free except sandwich rolls, sliced bread, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, and most of the rotating desserts. they have eliminated the chance for cross contamination by eliminating all gluten products from the fryers, rotisserie, and smoker. the kitchen is thoroughly cleaned between the production of gluten free recipes and recipes containing gluten. the menu is designed for sharing. first you order your protein(s) and choose a size; small, medium, or large. next you order a variety of sides, also available in three sizes, to share with the table. it is a great way to try many different items and foods you might not typically be inclined to order.

love the food here! yucca can't be missed. only downside is that the space is small so we only go in the summer when the patio is open.

brasa even from a distance oozes the quintessence of an urban midwestern eatery in the summer. with outdoor seating, people raising amber and golden glasses to the clashing of forks and knives with bowls and plates. the air fills with the smell of pork and butter. the scene is similar in winter except that it moves in doors and involves a greater number of plaid shirts with checks on them.

this establishment offers a limited but well done menu of cooking with creole/southern flair. i've tried these:
cream & pepper chicken: pulled chicken in a heavy white sauce which has you reaching for hot sauce to occasionally break the tasty monotony.rotisserie chicken: large cut chicken chunks with a dry rubbed, well roasted skin. this can be a tad dry on occasion and should be ordered with the creamed spinach or the fresh salad.spicy masa corn cake: essentially  saucer like corn bread with a sweet mildly spicy sauce and pickled onions. more of an appetizer than a side but good.rice & peas with sofrito & ham: a nice rice side dish which goes well with the creamed chicken. rustic style grits: just plain old grits, nothing fancy, the cheddar could be sharper.
gumbo fried rice: perhaps the best rice bowl here with a tangy sauce, shrimp, sausage, a whole lot of butter and some confused okra & scrambled egg. its good but its little, fills you with the fat rather than substance.curried chicken bowl: chicken tossed in rather generic tasting curry powder with potatoes, carrots and rice. starchy as you'd expect but surprisingly small.
dulce de leche tart: a nice chocaltey caramel tart with the butter palpable on the palette.

the food goes down well with the sharp ipas on tap here and the beer helps with the waiting you are likely to encounter on a fall/winter evening. its the kind of place you'd want to bring a small to medium sized group to. the atmosphere's quite warm for a nice meal with lively conversation and friendly service.

ordered the chicken curry and loved it. the small bites are all very tasty as well, specifically the fried yuca, plantains, and collard greens. go with a large group of people and order multiple small plate items to share.

hands down favorite restaurant in minneapolis! great business ethics fueled by sustainable local ingredients. it is so hard to choose what to order, the chicken, brisket, and catfish (only avail at the st.paul location) are all coveted. to start, the salad has the incredible house dressing and incredibly fresh radishes mozzarella and romaine. the corn bread is also phenomenal, very sweet and savory with honey butter. i can't go here without also ordering a side of yucca fries, cooked and seasoned to perfection. the wait can sometimes be a bit since it is a quaint space, but they have a great beer and wine selection (sangria and rose are bomb) to tide you over! service is usually excellent as well (only one instance did the waitress refuse my request for all white meat and had a rude manor). can't wait to stop again

was very impressed with the food! it's honest, straight forward comfort food with a twist. portions are generous and the price point is super affordable. loved their collard greens!!! if you have gluten issues it's an easy place to dine. staff was great too.

why the change of menu and increase in price? i used to be a regular at this place. i decided to take my family here - since i thought the food taste and experience was reputable. i was dead wrong and in for a surprise. the waiter was completely oblivious to any of our questions - not attentive to the fact that we were out of water, and even mixed up our order. in conclusion, we definitely miss the old brasa ways, flavor, and style. i'm not sure i will be coming back again in a rush....

my first time here and unfortunately i was not impressed. i started out excited, and asked the waitress what kind of curry was in the curried chicken bowl. she told me a mild curry w/coconut. when asked for a little more detail she told me it was red curry. this surprised me given the description of the rest of the dish but i figured she must know aince she serves it daily. what i ended up getting is what i originally expected--yellow curry. most likely kaeng kar with how the spice level was so tamed down and the amount of coconut in it imo. fine whatever. i love yellow curry as well. my first spoonful i almost break a tooth when i bite down on what seemed to be a whole chunk of cardamom! now im picking thru my $9 bowl of food to see whats there. i find 6-7 1/2" cubes of chicken (maybe an ounce or so) lightly tosses in curry. exactly 2 half-slices of potato (think half moon shaped). a pile of tumeric rice and a few 1/4" chunks of pineapple w/slices of some kind of red pepper that didnt have any heat to give. i also tried the spicy masa corn cake w/ cheese. envision a triple thick corn tortilla with a few jalapeno spiced picked onions on top. blah. while my wifes pork was tasty (as were the few ninbles of chicken i had) the ratio of protien to rest of dish are ridiculously out of wack for a meal imo. not to mention 2 potatoes?? really?? i will not be back nor ever reccomend it. sorry
