small little rotisserie, small parking lot parking in that area can be challenging,so be prepared to walk. both ordered the roasted pork sandwich, it comes with fresh tortilla chips and a wonderful tomato based dip. we shared the 3 side special and were amazed at the portions, yellow rice and beans-yams and andouille- and the romaine mozzarella salad...probably should have shared the pork sandwich. waiter was attentive and had impeccable timing throughout the entire meal. will go back to try their dinner fare.

brasa even from a distance oozes the quintessence of an urban midwestern eatery in the summer. with outdoor seating, people raising amber and golden glasses to the clashing of forks and knives with bowls and plates. the air fills with the smell of pork and butter. the scene is similar in winter except that it moves in doors and involves a greater number of plaid shirts with checks on them.

this establishment offers a limited but well done menu of cooking with creole/southern flair. i've tried these:
cream & pepper chicken:pulledchicken in a heavy white sauce which has you reaching for hot sauce to occasionally break the tasty monotony.rotisserie chicken: large cut chicken chunks with a dry rubbed, well roasted skin. this can be a tad dry on occasion and should be ordered with the creamed spinach or the fresh salad.spicy masa corn cake: essentially  saucer like corn bread with a sweet mildly spicy sauce and pickled onions. more of an appetizer than a side but good.rice & peas with sofrito & ham: a nice rice side dish which goes well with the creamed chicken. rustic style grits: just plain old grits, nothing fancy, the cheddar could be sharper.
gumbo fried rice: perhaps the best rice bowl here with a tangy sauce, shrimp, sausage, a whole lot of butter and some confused okra & scrambled egg. its good but its little, fills you with the fat rather than substance.curried chicken bowl: chicken tossed in rather generic tasting curry powder with potatoes, carrots and rice. starchy as you'd expect but surprisingly small.
dulce de leche tart: a nice chocaltey caramel tart with the butter palpable on the palette.

the food goes down well with the sharp ipas on tap here and the beer helps with the waiting you are likely to encounter on a fall/winter evening. its the kind of place you'd want to bring a small to medium sized group to. the atmosphere's quite warm for a nice meal with lively conversation and friendly service.

i have been to their st. paul location before and have absolutely fallen in love with that place. this restaurant has its own uniqueness from outside and inside... inside the restaurant, the styling is very much “chipotle-ish” in a way   but much better at the same time... we ordered mostly from the lunch plates and got some rotisserie chicken, pulledpork, pulledbeef, pulledchicken dish, some yucca fries with garlic seasoning,  plantains  and whole bunch of other things... everyone loved the food. the best part of brasa is that everything is organic and locally grown. that makes the food taste so much better!

my new favorite restaurant in the cities!. this restaurant (both locations are fabulous) has simple food that is simply delicious! this is where we bring all of our out-of-town guests when we want to treat them to a memorable meal. i love thepulledchicken, the braised beef, the rotisserie chicken, yucca fries, chips with guac...um...pretty much everything!

i am so impressed with the kids menu, too. the portion sizes are great for my (very) good eaters. i love it that every waitress we've had asks right away when we order if they should ask before bringing out the kid's dessert. that is good training by management!

also, i feel that the price is very affordable for the quality of food that you receive.

love, love, love this restaurant!

finally!. after about a year on the wishlist, we finally crossed off brasa this past saturday. we arrived around 6pm and were told we'd have a 30 minute wait. considering that it was a saturday night, we had absolutely no problems with that. and considering oberon was on tap, i was a happy man. about halfway through our first drink, a table opened up and we were seated.

we had the 4 piece chicken, and small servings ofpulledpork, rice and beans, slaw and the yams-and-chorizo dish. everything was absolutely delish. service was super fast and friendly.

there's not much i can write about this place that hasn't been written but i will say that the slaw had quite a bit of vinegar zing, which i personally love.

we ended up having some leftovers which i cannot wait to delve into tonight. well done, brasa, we will be back!

go there for lunch. they have amazing lunch deal where you can get a half sandwich (which is pretty big) and a side order. my favourites are the chicken sandwich, thepulledpork sandwich and the creamed spinach. delish! oh try the pickles with the sandwich and the guac with chips. this is what i love about america – you’ll find this gem of a place that serves amazing food at really cheap prices.

great food!. i love this place. the bestpulledpork i've ever had this side of the mason dixon. i used to go to this place weekly. since i moved a little further away its now become a monthly 'cant miss dinner'. i always take my friends from the suburbs here, due to the fact that this food is really amazing. not just suburb amazing, but seriously good, especially for the price.

i will tell everyone on here this, if you haven't been... go now! if its six in the am while ur reading this, just go wait at the door until they open! lol

not bad at all. i spent almost an hour looking over the reviews on urbanspoon of places to eat in minneapolis and finally decided to go with brasa. first, the place is small but cool and i waited almost 10 min for a table for one around 6:30. by the time i was done eating, all standing room was filled with patrons. i would assume that brasa is more fun in the spring and summer with more room from all the big bay doors open. for dinner i had thepulledmojo pork as my meat selection with creamed spinach and red beans & rice for sides. the meal itself was just good, and that's about all i can say. i found myself adding some pepper infused vinegar and red hot hotsauce to everything on the plate for some additional punch of flavor. i read so many great reviews that really got me expecting big things, but my choices were just plain and ok. i will have to return to try another plate of different selections. i might have just ordered the wrong things.

yum. there's nothing like a good piece of tender, juicy slow cooked meat! this restaurants prepares them just right and serves them with multitude of delicious sides. we ate thepulledpork shoulders with cheese grits, black beans, cornbread and potato salad. the meat almost melts in your mouth. if i was stuck in an island with only one dish, it would be the cornbread with honey butter. i washed my meal down with a mexican coke. my wife ordered the sweet tea, and that was good. service is excellent at this location. it was formerly a valvoline oil change. they even kept the glass garage doors! if you like simple, unpretentious food, prepared well, then you'll love this restaurant. make reservations, seating is limited in this location or prepare to wait about 15-20 minutes.

an affordable standout. great organic and local ingredients. lovely meats. tasty sides.. i've gone to brasa many times. i used to live down the street. once you get used to the menu's ordering options, you will understand that your experience depends on either working with the group family style, someone ordering for everyone else, or everyone ordering on their own.

if you're going alone or want something light - the sandwiches are great with really thought out extras and...oh yes - brasa's meats!

there are four - the rotisserie chicken, the savory gravy coveredpulledchicken, the slow roasted pork shoulder, and the braised beef. personally my favorite is the pork shoulder. it is great in sandwich form with those pickled veggies and ginger mayo... just perfect.

these meats can be very tender. the meats aren't drowned in their flavoring like in many grills or restaurants. occasionally the chicken ends up a touch dry... not the whole plate but a few pieces within it. really though this is some of the best meat in town and you can read where it comes from on the menu - that is always a good sign.

if you go in a democratic group you will likely run into trouble regarding the sides. the crispy yuca with mojo is a must try. otherwise i'm a big fan of a brasa style cabbage salad to balance all the meat and heavier sides out.

the cheese grits may have been authentic but they aren't my favorite. my grandma liked them though. i'd prefer the masa corn and cheese cakes. the yams and andouille are a good pick. the creamed spinach and jalapeno was pretty good but i wanted more spinach. still i'd give it a good grade. and then of course there are plantains. they aren't los andes perfect - but they are pretty damn awesome. for chip eaters their homemade chips are out of this world. the guac is also superb.

overall there are many choices and no failures. everyone will have an opinion on the different sides. that's part of the experience of ordering in a group. there are also seasonal offerings so check with the waiter. (like black eyed peas)

surly is offered too, on tap. this local beer is just one of the locally-sourced ingredients that have made their way onto the menu. picky eaters that want organic and non-factory sourced meat and veggies should breath a sigh of relief upon reading the menu.

the atmosphere is humble. the restaurant takes on a new character when the weather improves. there is outdoor seating. overall i like the not-too-fancy interior with bright woods and an open kitchen.
