great food, bad service. absolutely adore this restaurant, the food is awesome, amazing. the service could use a tune up, the servers are more preoccupied with each other and gossiping than with their customers.

not bad at all. i spent almost an hour looking over the reviews on urbanspoon of places to eat in minneapolis and finally decided to go with brasa. first, the place is small but cool and i waited almost 10 min for a table for one around 6:30. by the time i was done eating, all standing room was filled with patrons. i would assume that brasa is more fun in the spring and summer with more room from all the big bay doors open. for dinner i had the pulled mojo pork as my meat selection with creamed spinach and red beans & rice for sides. the meal itself was just good, and that's about all i can say. i found myself adding some pepper infused vinegar and red hot hotsauce to everything on the plate for some additional punch of flavor. i read so many great reviews that really got me expecting big things, but my choices were just plain and ok. i will have to return to try another plate of different selections. i might have just ordered the wrong things.

oh friends, do try brasa. wow! being a rotisserie, i am happy to say that brasa was absolutely delightful for this vegetarian. i got the bean fritter sandwich, which blew my mind. along with a big hunk-o-corn bread covered in honey, and some cheddar grits on the side. was all of this food necessary? no. i would have been totally content with just the sandwich...but i felt the need to try more. i will go back as soon as possible.

vegetarian bean fritter. oh wow! sooo good. the bean fritter was almost like their own version of a veggie burger. nice and crispy on the edges and laid on top of some greens. fresh mozzarella, tomato, lettuce all on a delicious bun. i think it was a ciabatta roll. comes with thick chips.

great food. the menu is structured in such a way that you can try a lot of different things and everything is good. my favourite pick was the collard greens and turkey and my partner loved the yuca. the atmosphere is great and the wait staff friendly.

love the food, but have tried both locations a few times... and the st. paul location is better. i don't know if it's just superior chefs or what, but the food is better at the st. paul location. i am 100% mpls, and hate trekking over to st. paul if i can get the same thing here... but i will/do for brasa

yummy! the braised beef is melt in your mouth tender. the homemade chips and guacamole are simple and delicious. the blackeyed peas are better than any you'd get down south. can't wait to go back to try the pork!

very low key and delicious. easy to share and not terribly expensive. our service wasn't amazing but acceptable. love the beef, pulled chicken and guacamole. order a side of the cilantro mayo to put on the beef - my favorite part of the whole meal!

yum. there's nothing like a good piece of tender, juicy slow cooked meat! this restaurants prepares them just right and serves them with multitude of delicious sides. we ate the pulled pork shoulders with cheese grits, black beans, cornbread and potato salad. the meat almost melts in your mouth. if i was stuck in an island with only one dish, it would be the cornbread with honey butter. i washed my meal down with a mexican coke. my wife ordered the sweet tea, and that was good. service is excellent at this location. it was formerly a valvoline oil change. they even kept the glass garage doors! if you like simple, unpretentious food, prepared well, then you'll love this restaurant. make reservations, seating is limited in this location or prepare to wait about 15-20 minutes.

it wasn't just cheesy goodness we found when we were in minneapolis. after asking my friends on twitter where to go, a couple people suggested brasa , a great casual rotisserie restaurant. melt in your mouth braised beef that's also locally sourced? organ

go family style!. we had dinner for 5, with birthday deserts, for under $100. we were completely stuffed from a meal of beef, pork, yams, corn bread, cabbage, chips & guac, and more. sharing a large meal among friends is the best way to go.

as a side note: when we asked for ordering advice, the server suggested we add some greens, which i found to be wonderful advice (the cabbage was a great choice).

thanks brasa, i look forward to coming back!

an affordable standout. great organic and local ingredients. lovely meats. tasty sides.. i've gone to brasa many times. i used to live down the street. once you get used to the menu's ordering options, you will understand that your experience depends on either working with the group family style, someone ordering for everyone else, or everyone ordering on their own.

if you're going alone or want something light - the sandwiches are great with really thought out extras and...oh yes - brasa's meats!

there are four - the rotisserie chicken, the savory gravy covered pulled chicken, the slow roasted pork shoulder, and the braised beef. personally my favorite is the pork shoulder. it is great in sandwich form with those pickled veggies and ginger mayo... just perfect.

these meats can be very tender. the meats aren't drowned in their flavoring like in many grills or restaurants. occasionally the chicken ends up a touch dry... not the whole plate but a few pieces within it. really though this is some of the best meat in town and you can read where it comes from on the menu - that is always a good sign.

if you go in a democratic group you will likely run into trouble regarding the sides. the crispy yuca with mojo is a must try. otherwise i'm a big fan of a brasa style cabbage salad to balance all the meat and heavier sides out.

the cheese grits may have been authentic but they aren't my favorite. my grandma liked them though. i'd prefer the masa corn and cheese cakes. the yams and andouille are a good pick. the creamed spinach and jalapeno was pretty good but i wanted more spinach. still i'd give it a good grade. and then of course there are plantains. they aren't los andes perfect - but they are pretty damn awesome. for chip eaters their homemade chips are out of this world. the guac is also superb.

overall there are many choices and no failures. everyone will have an opinion on the different sides. that's part of the experience of ordering in a group. there are also seasonal offerings so check with the waiter. (like black eyed peas)

surly is offered too, on tap. this local beer is just one of the locally-sourced ingredients that have made their way onto the menu. picky eaters that want organic and non-factory sourced meat and veggies should breath a sigh of relief upon reading the menu.

the atmosphere is humble. the restaurant takes on a new character when the weather improves. there is outdoor seating. overall i like the not-too-fancy interior with bright woods and an open kitchen.
