ambience is great! the chicken was delicious! both the roast chicken and the chicken skin were great! good pita! and the sauces were amazingly good!

gave it a 4 because of the limited food choices and the pretty expensive menu.

balai, a hole in the wall cafe restaurant. quite pricey but it was all worth it. we checked in for dinner time and quite lucky enough to be able to parked our car (2nd visit). so i suggest do come at an earlier timing say 6pm because during our first visit (around 7pm onwards) we weren’t able to park due to limited parking slots. (-0.5)

but nonetheless, the food was lovely and filling. we ordered their charcoal grilled chicken and it was a bombed. my husband and i as well as my sisters loved it. it cost us p425 which comes all their dips and 2 sides (choose: curry rice & pita bread). both sides didn’t disappoint at all especially their pita breads. we also ordered their steaks meal and pulled pork meal set. for dessert we had their caramel flan which was also worth it at the price of p108. drinks was ok in terms of taste since i find my drinks to sweet and quite pricey as well. (-0.5)

enjoyed ourselves eating dinner at balai and we definitely will comeback for their chicken and pita bread.

review deck: balai by cafe +
brunch cafes thrive the metro to welcome an emerging trend of eating pattern among highly driven and on-the-go generation. brunch, a portmanteu of breakfast and lunch; is a dining concept made more popular by the west. it is said to have started on a sunday tradition when family wants to eat meals after attending mass. since then, a new generation of urban millenials take the idea of brunch to mean an opportunity to hangout with peers over coffee or cocktail while enjoying an egg benedict, bacon or ham at 11am.

balai by cafe plus was a perfect place to celebrate success with two of my dynamic team managers as part of my rest2reward program over brunch. it means rest, restaurant and reward. this is an initiave i coined to recognize team members of job well done. i chose to share a meal with my direct reports along with the smes because a meal is a communal activity that all humans enjoy.

balai is located at no.1 floremer subd. as fortuna st. banilad near oakridge and fronting fat dois. its homey indoor store and well maintained outdoor set-up literally gives meaning to the visayan term “balai” or home. it’s offerings of both hot and iced blended coffee are a must try. their frappes, smoothies, extracted fresh fruits and flavored drinks are worth sipping. but the highlight of my balai visit is the generous serving of brunch of ham, omelette, and sausages garnished with tomatoes and parsley. not to be outshadowed is the huge chicken parmesan serving that can serve for 2.

i enjoyed this place so much that my team celebrated our christmas party in the lounge room; one of its three working function rooms consummable for 3000. the area is an ideal location for exclusive dinner with friends and family or meeting sessions. kudos to their staffs for being so accomodating during our visit of our plan to decorate the place.

so next time you think of brunch, do not just bring your friends anywhere. bring them home. bring them to balai.

here's my verdict out of 5⭐️.
food - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
instagrammability - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
customer service - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
price - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
overall - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. 5

spent 700+ for 2 people. the richly spiced tender chicken was affordable at p300, which was in contrast to the p39 per cup rice and the p110 iced tea. so i had 1 cup only and had a frappe for p140 (the frappe was well-blended and flavorful, i love it). l place was nice and comfy. wait time was only 10 mins.

deduction:
-0.5pt for the price of rice (which wasn't even good) and iced tea (is that imported?)
-0.5pt wifi was not that strong, maybe because there were a lot of users at that time
-0.5pt for the limited food choices

would i come back? yep, to try their breakfast options. i heard it's good

good food and cozy place. those were the words that came into my mind when we visited balai. located across fat dois, this coffee shop/restaurant serves not just coffee but also yummy dishes. plus, the price is very affordable and the servings are very generous. i wanted to try their in-demand avocado toast but too bad, it was not available. so we tried different dishes. all were so good but i forgot the names. we are planning to go back and try their coffees.

quiet, great ambiance of spanish and filipino design, coffee has giant size which is great for coffee lovers such as me, and it has a semi-function hall for group meetings, desserts are delicious too, haven’t tried the food though 😁

when we got in the cafe, we just fell in love with the place. it was 10am so they just opened. we ordered mocha frappe and caramel macchiato while waiting for lunch time. i am unusually clumsy today, i spilled my frappe and the staff was very kind to assist. i just asked too many questions yet he was too patient with me. drinks tasted good. and let's not forget about the chicken. well, it wasn't good. it was goooddd. 👌 for p429 we filled them bellies full. (burp!) i just love the ambiance of this cafe. caffeine and protein in a place that feels exactly like home.

p.s. sauces were incredible!

i'm in love. this place had a very urban and aesthetically pleasing vibe to it at an affordable price. their packaging and interior were very much on point and the service was great. it's officially a hideout for me and bestfriend! hope to go there more often and officially become a regular😊

i ordered a caramel macchiato latte for just 138 pesos and it was huge and they sold avocado toast for only 98.

i like the place, it was cozy. i also like the service. it was fast and the waiters were very friendly and accommodating. we visited on a tuesday to avail their unli chicken. the chicken tasted good but it was dry and it wasn't that hot when it was served. i like that they gave us different kinds of sauces but it would be better if they weren't too thick. it would make up the dryness of the chicken if the sauces were thinner or had a more fluid consistency.

just the perfect place to relax. it's in the city, but away from it. homey and very comfortable. great to spend with family and/or friends to get a good laugh and good food!

a great place to do school work except study. they have good ambiance. the staff seemed too busy to entertain me so i had to stand in front of the register for a few minutes. not so accommodating but quick to act. aside from that they have affordable drinks compared to other cafes and reasonable prices for the meals. comfortable seats but not enough power outlets. what makes not good for studying is the fact that adults go there for meetings. but all in all my experience there was great.
