i fail to understand how this place has got such high rating. i feel it's just surviving on its past reputation.

first visit was a friend who ate veg burger and was highly disappointed but we let it pass as it was christmas time. second visit was after new year.
we took an eclair, they have 3 options, choco/mocha and vanilla.
the place is highly mismanaged. i stood in line to place an order but that counter said no orders here.
so kept hovering on the other counters to catch anyone's attention to understand where to place an order...to my surprise everybody on the other side seemed super busy with less than 50% occupancy.
but to my surprise, the same counter where it was written - no orders here was taking orders 🙄
i finally caught a lady's attention and asked her for one choco eclair, take away. after this it took us 10mins to make the payment and take one item as the man at the billing counter was busy with something that i never understood.
food was not even well displayed, seemed as if it was just thrown out there.
now coming to the taste, the eclair though chocolate had bit of mocha after taste and was quite sweet which i didn't expect from such highly rated bakery!!!
it also didn't seem fresh.
i don't know if it was just us both the times or this place is not worth it.

well baker street has some amazing breads and puffs to offer. i suggest you visit this place for breakfast as their wide range of food gets sold out later in the day. they have a lot of food options to select from.

this place has all my heart and love ❤️ though it is on the expensive side in comparison to auroville & other bakeries, the foood here is worth each penny. i tried 1) pizza 2) veg burger 3) chicken burger 4) pita bread sandwich 5) escargot 6) babka and everything was top notch! you may struggle finding yourself a seat as it’s completely packed during breakfast hours. but afterall, the food is worth the wait!

i don't know how this place has such high ratings. i was there for the pastries but they were so baad. tat shell was so bad that i just gave up. didn't try their food counter or bakes.

i would leave zero stars if i could. the food is mediocre for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to authentic. you should not call yourself a french restaurant.

the vibe, food , and the hospitality feels ridiculously whitewashed.

the white sauce pasta was nowhere fresh. and the pizza they served was already made and kept in display. the fresh juices we had places an order for came out to be tooo sweet and the glasses in which it was served, had some pungent smell.

baker street, the french delicacy concept store in pondicherry isn’t popular namesake. the place actually delivers some stellar baked goods that is world class, if not fabulously french.

the menu of this indoor cafe is a mix of french sweet and savoury goodies, ranging from baguette sandwiches, croissants, eclairs, macaroons, burgers, pizza, quiche, and much more.

i was overwhelmed with the items on display and could not decide what to have and what not to.

after much thought, i decided to pack a creamy chicken baguette sandwich, some decadent chocolate eclairs, a mixed bag of french macaroons, to go. we reached chennai that evening and reserved these for our dinner.

the chicken baguette sandwich was a deliciously made creamy chicken generously spread on the mini baguette slice, with some lettuce for crunch. it was absolutely delicious, with the hard baguette competing with the superbly well made creamy chicken chunks, a must try.

the chocolate eclair was a decadence in every bite, creamy, chocolatey, slightly eggy, but a marvellous dessert, another must try.

the macaroons were okay, a decent version, probably i expected a little more than what wifey makes at home.

we duck pick up some jabs with interesting combinations like apple cinnamon, again a must recommend to pick up a few.

what was not so pleasant was the non-french cafe ambience, the crowd and the staff, who were doing too many things than focusing on one customer at a time.

overall #apjprecommends baker street heavily as a must visit in pondicherry

definitely coming back to try their wide menu in both savoury and decadent desserts, and you must too

covid update - there were transparent sheets and acrylic barriers to keep the walk-in public and the food, all staff were masked and with gloves while handling food.

the place was crowded during the weekend. took a long time to order and the taste was not very much up for the wait.

hello fellow foodies!! welcome to another food heaven..this is one such place where i can keep coming with no questions asked .. i had the best plain eclair of my life so far!! i wish i could just pack the whole store in my bag to pune...here i can't put a finger of anything specific just go with your gut guys😍😋 and you just cannot be disappointed 😁

don't know how this place got 4.5 rating. the food quality is poor and the prices are way too high. the staff doesn't listen and doesn't care. i ordered a veg sandwich, chicken tandoori sandwich, veg pizza, coco banana pastry. everything is pre made and is just warmed when you order. the pizza was way too oily the bread was hard as rock and the pastry way too sweet. i would recommend this place if you like to have overly priced low quality food.

bakers street is not to be missed when visiting pondicherry. they serve eye catching and mouth watering eats, from sandwiches to burgers and sweets. we ordered the palmiers, macaroons, burgers, croissants! we also took home the box of cookies that were absolutely delicious! the staff though busy due to the constant rush, are very polite and pleasant. kudos to them for handling the crowds so patiently!

i dined in baker street as it is one of the popular stores for french cuisine in pondicherry. the store has quite a variety of dishes but i felt there were some hits and some misses. i tried their non-veg pizza which was good and fresh. their tandoori chicken croissant was average while their pesto chicken sandwich was hard and not good. their deserts are delicious and i would recommend to take home their cookies. however their coffee was not good and just icy cold.

overrated place. too much margarine in croissants and not so yumm too! they have all kinds of bakes from quiches, macarons, croissants, pastries. tried only croissants but.

this is the bakery in pondicherry. i really enjoyed the eclair and creme bruelee. their cream is very fresh. however, people are not friendly and nobody will give you any suggestions. they should improve their service.

to be honest very very disappointed, we came with so many expectations all the way from bangalore but to vain

the macarons were like sticky truffles, the lemon tart was like a block of butter soaked in lemon juice, the eclair cafe should be rather named as eclair yolk!!!!

coming to sandwich, it was like a hard casing holding some average chicken. we had to eat just the chicken to fill our hunger

the lady at counter was very rude and seemed uninterested. we had to wait 40 mins to get 1 cup of coffee while another table came after us, had their coffee and left. the only reason i have given 2 rating because the sandwiches were really nice. however i am not sure if i am going again.
