went here two times in a day. for breakfast we ordered a lot of stuff as we had heard good things about this place. if you want to try the best stuff definitely one has to reach early as things sell out quickly and won't find place to sit and grab a bite. i would recommend going in the morning as when we visited in the evening the food was not up to the mark.
recommendations
🔺lasagna(it's the best, you won't regret)
🔺chicken tikka sub sandwich
🔺chicken pesto sandwich.
🔺all of the macroons
🔺eclairs
🔺 cappuccino

from breads to coffee loved their collection and service.

got a chance to visit the extremely famous bakery/cafe amongst tourists and always hustling with crowd.
(if you go in the mornings or evenings you might not get a seat)

they have amazing bakery varieties to choose from even if you are a vegetarian. everything here is simply delicious.

do check it out.

a bit late to write this review but as a mumbai based, i visited this place way back in 2016. still remember tasting delicious french desserts. also they serve a pretty good burgers. only downside i felt was the price. it was bit on a higher side.

we came here for our midnight cravings .. it’s french style bakery where u get sandwiches, cakes and croissants . the food here is on the expensive side . we had a croissant and a creek brûlée and a pastry not sure what the other dish we was called . but would definitely go back to try other things .

location mg road

the only place which is popular and which isn’t in white town / french town. when we stopped outside we were a little doubtful as it seemed slightly smaller from the exterior. i had seen quite a few bloggers mention about this place so i was hellbent on visiting it. i convinced all to check it out with me.

once we entered, we were like little kids in the candy shop. baker’s street has a hugeeee variety of food.

we obviously ordered a lot of things from the menu. namely cinnamon roll, croissants ( both savoury and sweet ) éclair, quiche, egg omelette with toast, baguette, banana pastry, apple cinnamon cake,

we paid approx. 1900 rs. for the above.

pros –food, pricing, food quality and quantity

cons – none.

ttb rating – 5*

only one of the few places in pondicherry where you will get everything. you name the item they have it there.
we had so many items for dinner including quiche, sandwich, brotta and roll.
taste was very average.
ambience i perfect for relaxing and meetings etc.
location is just opposite the railway station and adjacent to the basilica church which makes it perfect. only 4 wheeler parking might be an issue here.

the first restaurant, i decided to visit in pondi is baker street. though i found it over hyped comparatively to the reviews and tags it has on the web.
but it's definatly a must go on the way to rock beach.

baker street serves you with great options,
chicken croissant is a must try.

p.s carry cash, as they dont accept card below 400 bucks.

we visited bakers street on 24.2.2020. very exited to visit since we have heard of this place via a tv foodie program. we ordered chicken tandoori baguette, veg focaccia and molleux au chocolate.

the food was ok, but what surprised me was the attitude of the staff and a lady who seemed like the owner. attitude makes a lot of difference.what i mean is they were only focusing on the french people. when i stood in line for ordering and pre-payment, the cashier actually took the order and payment from the frenchman who stood behind me in the queue, just ignoring me. i definitely told the cashier this is.not correct. then the lady dressed in white (who possibly is the owner), walked up to every table which had a french person sitting on it, spoke to them in french. not once did i notice her approach any other table where indians were seated. i am definitely shocked at this biased attitude, hence sharing. the restaurant is pondicherry, india.

gave the wrong order despite my repeating it thrice. didn't even replace it. not a place for people who don't eat eggs. overrated.

pretty much disappointed with the place. visited this place after hearing quite a lot about it everywhere but the place turned out to be just a touristy hype with priorities given to non indian customers. we had to wait almost 10 minutes to be even attended whereas the same was not the case when we saw another set of foreign customers entering who were treated immediately. the food was below average (tried 3 different pastries). not recommended.

this place hardly needs any introduction
almost everyone i know, whom i talked to about visiting puducherry, has recommended this place.

amazing stuff - nothing to complain about. something which others might count as a negative - the rule of accepting card payments only above orders of inr 400 - is a positive for me as well : it leads to me buying and sampling even more stuff from the bakery.

excellency is found in, but not limited to :-

chicken pesto sandwich, spinach sandwich, veg. croissant, choco caramel pastry, macarons, assorted cookies

ps. smelling the bread that you buy before consuming it is a sure shot way to get your palate very excited. 😄
