baker street is located at mg road, pondicherry. this place was very near to my hostel inpondicherryand i heard a lot of good things about this place. so one fine morning we went to this place for breakfast. we ordered escargot chocolate, butter croissant, chicken quiche, cafe latte, cappuccino and americano. everything was perfect but my favourite was escargot chocolate and butter croissant. if you want to taste fresh french delicacies then this is the place to be. this place is not that budget friendly. ambience of this place is decent.

baker street, the french delicacy concept store inpondicherryisn’t popular namesake. the place actually delivers some stellar baked goods that is world class, if not fabulously french.

the menu of this indoor cafe is a mix of french sweet and savoury goodies, ranging from baguette sandwiches, croissants, eclairs, macaroons, burgers, pizza, quiche, and much more.

i was overwhelmed with the items on display and could not decide what to have and what not to.

after much thought, i decided to pack a creamy chicken baguette sandwich, some decadent chocolate eclairs, a mixed bag of french macaroons, to go. we reached chennai that evening and reserved these for our dinner.

the chicken baguette sandwich was a deliciously made creamy chicken generously spread on the mini baguette slice, with some lettuce for crunch. it was absolutely delicious, with the hard baguette competing with the superbly well made creamy chicken chunks, a must try.

the chocolate eclair was a decadence in every bite, creamy, chocolatey, slightly eggy, but a marvellous dessert, another must try.

the macaroons were okay, a decent version, probably i expected a little more than what wifey makes at home.

we duck pick up some jabs with interesting combinations like apple cinnamon, again a must recommend to pick up a few.

what was not so pleasant was the non-french cafe ambience, the crowd and the staff, who were doing too many things than focusing on one customer at a time.

overall #apjprecommends baker street heavily as a must visit inpondicherry

definitely coming back to try their wide menu in both savoury and decadent desserts, and you must too

covid update - there were transparent sheets and acrylic barriers to keep the walk-in public and the food, all staff were masked and with gloves while handling food.

the place is nice and air conditioned. but that's it. lots of french food options. but stale. not fresh. we ordered a cheesecake, chocolate cookie, eclairs cafe. but all items were overpriced and not fresh. sadly this place features in best ofpondicherrycollection by zomato, for god knows what reason. the staff is horrible. the billing counter lady overcharged me, but when i pointed out her mistake, instead of apologizing, she gave me back a torn note. when i asked her to change, she made a frustrated face and made me wait for 15 minutes, only to say she doesn't have a new note. i'd say totally avoid this place, if something else is open.

if baked french goodies are your thing, baker’s street is the place to be!🥖🥐🍞

it’s an ideal spot for breakfast/brunch to get your day started with some freshly baked food in the midst of delicious aroma & a lot of conversations in french.

being a person who follows a plant based diet, the options were limited. nevertheless there are ample of options for vegetarians.👍🏼

p.s it was our last day inpondicherryso we ended up taking a lot of breads & bakes back home directly from here too!💃🏻

a must visit inpondicherryfor some scrumptious french style breakfast, baker's street will always stay in memory!

the cafe is small and well lit, and the seating is comfortable too. quite a few tables, but i recommend arriving early for breakfast. in the wake of the covid pandemic, the place has kept high on hygiene and cleanliness. the service is prompt, no problems there.

coming to the food i managed to try the following dishes out:
1. apple tart: lip-smacking and super flavourful.
2. croissants: the butter and almond croissants were delicious, left me wanting for more!
3. quiche: tried the cheese quiche, it was tasty but i've had better.
4. chocolate mille-feuille: the hero of the day, loved the chocolate and the flakiness of the dish. simply out of this world!

i ended this adventurous meal with a cup of hot coffee, which was great too.

only downside would be the prices, might seem high for what is served. but the dishes are sure to put a smile on your face!

we visited this place on 2nd february 2021. this place is very famous inpondicherryfor its french cuisine. the food on offer was mouth watering however the prices were steep. we ordered the ham and cheese quiche, the flan and chicken croissant. the quiche was very nice. we tried the strawberry milk shake but it was not that great. you can visit this place if you wish to try some french cuisine.

only one of the few places inpondicherrywhere you will get everything. you name the item they have it there.
we had so many items for dinner including quiche, sandwich, brotta and roll.
taste was very average.
ambience i perfect for relaxing and meetings etc.
location is just opposite the railway station and adjacent to the basilica church which makes it perfect. only 4 wheeler parking might be an issue here.

baker street is one of the best things that has ever happened to me .. i was mesmerised by the range of baked stuff kept on display right after you enter the place.
i have heard so much good about this place and the fact that it is equally popular among foreign tourists.. baker street justifies it all.
we tried the croissants, eclairs, quiche, sandwich & coffee.
we brought home cookies & chocolates.
only fault i could manage to find was in myself for failing to return here while still being inpondicherry& pack more stuff for home.
each & every item smelled & tasted the most perfect it could be.
managed to have a little chat with the person behind counter & learnt that all of the baked stuff are prepared strictly following authentic french recipes.. no doubt!!
please please do drop by this place if you are in pondicherry!
such awesome spread & such amazing taste.. the kind you relish all life long ❤️

happy eating 🤤

mypondicherrytrip has been going horrible thanks to the incessant rain and the bad weather. somehow set my bad mood aside and waddled through the puddles to this place.

was delighted just looking at the array of french delicacies available. it has been a dream to taste an eclair. and here i was oggling at 5 diff types of eclairs. here's what we ordered:

sausage croissant
paris brest (which i guess was a hazelnut flavoured one with macademia nuts in the frosting)
coffee macarons
hot chocolate
tiramisu
trocondra

the croissant was the best. the cheese wasn't processed, atleast it tasted nothing like any other packaged mozzarella i've tasted before. the crunchy butter croissant was definately the best of the whole deal. i absolutely loved the paris brest eclair. but i havent tasted any eclair before this so i dont really have anything to compare it with. the macarons were crunchy yet soft but too sweet for me. the hot chocolate and tiramisu were a bit dissapointing. the hot choc felt ordinary, like something i could make at home, the tiramisu kinda lacked the strong coffee punch.
