avelluto's italian delight

consistently super!. everytime i'm in kansas city, i try to swing by and catch a meal. thefoodis consistently good, especially my favs - pizza and generous salads.

my sister used to live in mission and the stromboli was her favorite. i wouldn't hesitate to try other menu items here but i always go to my favorites!

customer service!. i wish that if someone had a problem they would simply ask to speak to me, john avelluto or james avelluto, we are the owners. in response to erika, the way we do calzones has changed a little of a year ago, and as a result we sell twice as many more. we are also able to provide a fresher product.i would like to know who was rude to you,and what time and day this event happened.foodservice is not always an easy job,sometimes even the most level headed person can get their feathers ruffled.

best italianfoodin kc. i eat at this restaurant all the time. hands down this is the best italianfoodin kc and at reasonable prices. i travel all over the us and nobody has lasagna as good as theirs, nobody. if you're lucky, you'll happen to visit when they have one of their specialty dishes available. tonight was a yummy rice ball packed with very tender beef, cheeses, rice, and all sorts of yummy stuff. if that isn't enough, it's served on a bed of spicy zesty sauce and peas. this is the first time i've had that and i just couldn't believe how good it was. you won't be sorry if you try this restaurant.

i can't begin to tell you how much i love this place. i've been a loyal customer for 15 years. it's where i took my first date for crying out loud! but i have two complaints as of late. portion control is inconsistent at best. bottom line, i need morefoodfor the price. and second, the restaurant would be a lot better if the girl behind the register in the evenings wasn't such a disaster. you call in an order and you wait 20 minutes before your presence is even acknowledged. i love this place, always have and always will, but the need someone to bring order and consistency.

good, clean, stick-to-your-ribs italian. avelluto's may not win any fine dining awards, but they should win some kind of award, because i have never been disappointed in the food. this is a clean, diner type place that serves unpretentious italianfoodwell. everything i have had here, from the chicken spaghetti (which consists of their house red sauce over chicken tenders over perfectly executed spaghetti) to the calzones, to the pizza, everything is good, including the prices. my biggest problem is deciding what to order. service can be a bit spotty, so watch your ps and qs, but thefoodis consistently good.

fantastic. this place never fails! whenever i'm in the mood for great italianfoodat a great price, this is the place in kansas city.

always good food. best bowl of minestrone soup in town!!!

greatfood& family atmosphere. last friday i had a fantastic salmon plate. the salmon was perfect and topped with crust, with potato's and peas, carrots on the side. a very fantastic meal (once again), and very beautifully presented. i have eaten here for years, and had no problems. john, james, mikey, and bill (and melissa) are great people. nice quiet atmosphere, where one can actually hear each other, and the best pasta/brocc casserole in town. 10 stars from me!!!

just perfect!. first off, i've been a customer about as long as i've been old enough to be a consumer. i still love me some avelluto's. i usually get the calzone. and yes, the first time i didn't know that they weren't doing the standard cheeses/ham, i was a bit disappointed. so i gave them a call, they explained that you now could add any ingrediants to them that you wanted, and i've loved them even more ever since. i like the change. still, for the most part thefoodis pretty darned consistant, and that would be consistantly awesome. i go here often during the week, i call in orders when i know that they are busy and only have 15mins to get myfood& be back at work. well, they haven't let me down yet. this is not because i am some special customer, or family member, i am not. they have always seemed to value all of their customers. if the avelluto family has ever let a rude employee work there, it's news to me. i know it can get a little hectic, but i just have to say that in many decades of happy patronage, not one soul has ever treated me rudely. have they been a bit hurried before? heavens yes, but speaking for me at least, they are always hurrying so that their customers walk out with hot deliscious food, just the way they ordered it.

we love this place. this is our favorite family place to eat out, which is probably why we're there almost every week. the pizza is fantastic. it was recommended to us by a new york friend several years ago. john and james, the owners, are great guys and are always ready with a suggestion if you want to try something different. we love the cheeze pizza, and the stromboli's are excellent. the eggplant parm is amazing as are the grilled chicken salad, the health salad, and the meatballs. the meatball sub is also wonderful. the best italianfoodvalue in the city, in our opinion.

thefoodwas outstanding. the spaghetti was cooked just right and the meatballs and sausage were delicious. the prosciutto ball was like something je makes at home with ham, cream cheese and crescent rolls and it didn't disappoint either.

avelutto's italian delight. avelutto's has fantastic stromboli, rigatoni, and pizza (& many other great dishes). this is not a commercial pizza hut or chain place. the sauce and dough are made in house, home made in their shop! i grew up eating italianfoodon the hill in st. louis like others have mentioned. this is the best italianfoodthat i have found since moving to kc. the prices are very reasonable for taking the whole family out to eat or a date night for the adults when they dim the lights late in the evening.

i highly recommend you try it!

great food, great people, great service. after 15 years of working across the street (and still do) from avelluto's italian delight, i finally decided to look them up on the internet for the reviews and/or their website. all the reviews were great except from a few (joco snobs??). the food, atmosphere, employees and the owners have all been great. if you talk to the owners, they will talk/chat back as any owner/restaurateur would to make sure you are satisfied with their product and service.
my experience with avelluto's italian delight has been over the top in customer service and the one of the best for their pizza's. i've also had their calzone, strombli, sausage roll, combo hero, health salad, olive salad, and my wife the pasta salad and ultimate chocolate cake to boot, and she and my kids love the food.
avelluto's italian delight has the qualityfoodanyone is looking for and the personal service from the owners.
and it took me 15 years to finally try this delicatessen, and now i go almost weekly (budget).

the best italian!. we've been frequenting italian delight long before it was remodeled (this goes back to the 90's.) prior to finding this wonderful place, we had tried all the "recommended" italian restaurants. having grown up in st. louis and having access to the "hill," i knew what i was looking for in the way of italianfoodand none of the "trendy" restaurants in kc offered the "real thing." the dishes were either bland or too sweet or just plain mediocre - nothing to write home about.

and then we discovered avelluto's italian deight. i remember my first bite of their famous lasagna - i nearly wept. to compare this dish to music, i would have to say the lasagna is a mellifluous blend of wonderfully fresh ingredients - you can taste each one and put together, it's almost a religous experience. this dish and many others on the menu would easily rival anything on the st. louis "hill."

since our first pizza, we have no interest in ordering anywhere else. the pizza is truly the best we've ever had.

the chicken parmesan is nothing short of amazing! i wish i could make it half that well!

we now bring our grandchildren to avelluto's italian deight and i suspect they will bring their children as well.

love avelluto's!. have been coming to avelluto's for almost 20 years and have tried just about everything. have honestly loved every dish we've been served here. have so many favorites it's tough to decide, amazing calzones, eggplant parmigiana, incredible pizza (my son's favorite as my picture shows, and frequently begs to eat here!), my husband loves their meatball sandwiches and lasagna. i crave their chef salads all the time, it's a huge salad with the best, freshest ingredients, perfect dressing, spices and plenty of meat and cheese rolls on it. as we live 40 miles away now, it is always worth the drive to make lunch dates with friends (who i've gotten hooked on them) as often as i can!

as for the service mentioned before, we have never had a bad experience. but that might be because we walk in with a smile on our face knowing full well the greatfoodwe're going to enjoy or take home, and then met with a smile in return. i for one would not have a problem asking for the owner, at any restaurant, if i experienced less than acceptable service, and give that owner the opportunity to rectify the problem with said employees before taking to my computer and just writing a bad review. or at the very least, send them a feedback message on their website if you don't want to address the issue face to face or in front of the employee. that's what it's there for. john avelluto is not a personal friend, but i think i've gotten to know him over the years, (as he always makes a point to ask how i'm doing every time i go in), well enough to know that he takes pride in his restaurant, genuinely cares and strives to give you the best and always goes out of his way to take care of his customers. just ask any one of the many regulars, patiently standing in line waiting for an amazing dish!

a gem. avelluto's won't win any awards for ambiance but thefoodis absolutely great. it's traditional italian-american fare (red sauce, meatballs, spaghetti, etc.) but it's always amazing. my advice would be to avoid the pasta dishes-- not that they're bad-- but there other menu items are really where avelluto's shines. their eggplant parm, for instance, is awesome.
