great food, horriblecustomerservice. i have always and will continue to go here because i love the food. but they need some lessons in not being rude to customers. especially when they have made a calzone the same way since i was a kid (i'm now in my 30's), then all of a sudden change it suddenly and the way you are suppose to order it. they were soooooo rude to my husband, it was ridiculous but we didn't want to cause a huge scene.

i can't begin to tell you how much i love this place. i've been a loyalcustomerfor 15 years. it's where i took my first date for crying out loud! but i have two complaints as of late. portion control is inconsistent at best. bottom line, i need more food for the price. and second, the restaurant would be a lot better if the girl behind the register in the evenings wasn't such a disaster. you call in an order and you wait 20 minutes before your presence is even acknowledged. i love this place, always have and always will, but the need someone to bring order and consistency.

delish!!! and prompt!. i've been acustomerhere forever it seems. and of all of those times i had one disappointing experience. i ordered a calzone, not realizing they had changed the recipe. so i did what i thought was the reasonable thing, i called them. it was explained to me that i could now customized my calzone, and since then i have been even happier than ever. i love adding proscuitto, mushrooms, and sometimes onion. sometimes, i even get really wild and go with lasagna. i don't care much for pizza, but everyone else i know tends to love theirs. no one is ever rude to me here, but they are sometimes busy and not chatty. which is great, i'm usually in a hurry to pick up my call in and get back to the office. i pay for food, not friends. i'd rather have my order on time and i appreciate the fact that they have never made me late getting back to work. the prices are reasonable, smiles abundant and i'm a very happy camper. i highly recommend this place!

just perfect!. first off, i've been acustomerabout as long as i've been old enough to be a consumer. i still love me some avelluto's. i usually get the calzone. and yes, the first time i didn't know that they weren't doing the standard cheeses/ham, i was a bit disappointed. so i gave them a call, they explained that you now could add any ingrediants to them that you wanted, and i've loved them even more ever since. i like the change. still, for the most part the food is pretty darned consistant, and that would be consistantly awesome. i go here often during the week, i call in orders when i know that they are busy and only have 15mins to get my food & be back at work. well, they haven't let me down yet. this is not because i am some special customer, or family member, i am not. they have always seemed to value all of their customers. if the avelluto family has ever let a rude employee work there, it's news to me. i know it can get a little hectic, but i just have to say that in many decades of happy patronage, not one soul has ever treated me rudely. have they been a bit hurried before? heavens yes, but speaking for me at least, they are always hurrying so that their customers walk out with hot deliscious food, just the way they ordered it.

been eating at italian delight for over 25 years. the old location at indian springs shopping mall was my location growing up. i do like the mission location since they opened. first off,customerservice is it what it is. sort of rough and new york style. get past that if you have issues with this. focus on the food. as with anything, there will be off days at italian delight. but, it's usually spot on. pizza, pasta's, calzone's, stromboli's, desserts, ect are the best you'll find in kansas city. just give it a try and write a review.

great food, great people, great service. after 15 years of working across the street (and still do) from avelluto's italian delight, i finally decided to look them up on the internet for the reviews and/or their website. all the reviews were great except from a few (joco snobs??). the food, atmosphere, employees and the owners have all been great. if you talk to the owners, they will talk/chat back as any owner/restaurateur would to make sure you are satisfied with their product and service.
my experience with avelluto's italian delight has been over the top incustomerservice and the one of the best for their pizza's. i've also had their calzone, strombli, sausage roll, combo hero, health salad, olive salad, and my wife the pasta salad and ultimate chocolate cake to boot, and she and my kids love the food.
avelluto's italian delight has the quality food anyone is looking for and the personal service from the owners.
and it took me 15 years to finally try this delicatessen, and now i go almost weekly (budget).

great food and service :). i have been acustomerfor years and italian delight has great food and great service! like the sign says in the restaurant, be nice or get out! :)

i have witnessed several times when acustomeris rude or demanding to the workers and i sometimes understand when they are not friendly back. i have previously worked in the food service and have experienced customers who think they are better than you and are very demanding. but everytime i eat at italian delight i am friendly to them, so they are friendly to me. i don't get upset when things in the restaurant changes (such as the way they make calzones and strombolis). that is the owner's decision. i'm not going to take it out on the workers. if i did have a problem, i would speak to the owner.

i go to the restaurant very often so as a "regular"customeri would have to say that i have never had a bad experience. yes, it does get very hectic on fridays and saturdays, so they may not give you extra special attention. but if you need something, just ask. i suggest that if you do have a problem, speak to the owner because he will make sure something is done :)

if you have never been there, i sugget that you try it once. obviously people have had different experiences there, but the food really is very good. the price is also cheaper than most italian places. either way, people will always be going there even if you don't.

addendum to previous review.... regarding the parmesan, the lady did stop what she was doing and got us some more. i don't want to give the impression that she ignored us.

overall poor experience. went here for the first time last night. i had read reviews on another site that seemed to shine a light on this place. first of all, the dude behind the register wasn't the least bit friendly (if the owner sees this, it was a guy with a mowhawk). in fact, it felt like he was one second away from telling us to go away. acted like we were inconveniencing him. and i've worked in restaurants in the past, so i make it a point to be very friendly to restaurant employees. this guy was just miserable. we ordered garlic bread with cheese and a pizza. the food was okay. the parmesan on the table got us through two pieces of pizza and when we looked around to maybe grab one from another table, there wasn't any. i asked an employee for some more and again, no smile, no "i'll bring one right out", nothing. it's as if the employees are required to be unfriendly. the nicest guy in the place was the older black guy who brought us our garlic bread out. he actually smiled and treated us well.

i would give them the benefit of the doubt, but based on the reviews on this site, poorcustomerservice is a common problem. and it's not the customer's job to tell them when there's a problem. from what i can tell, there's a problem with the entire staff (aside from the employee i previously mentioned) from the pizza maker to the busboys/girls.

the only way i would recommend this place is if you were just going to call in your order, pick it up, and go home. sorry if this seems rude, i'm just being honest. it was not a good experience.

have enjoyed for years,customerservice sometimes an issue. the good: i highly recommend their veal parm sandwich. i think it is pretty much the best veal parm i've had. i also suggest you try their prosciutto balls, calzones, or the cold ham sandwich. i also really like their pizza, which is a new york/new jersey style. they offer a neapolitan crust option, which is nice for people who don't like a big doughy pizza.

the so-so: my husband and i have loved coming to avelluto's for years, but we do go less than we used to, because service tends to deteriorate on busy days, and can be spotty other times. part of it is their fault, part not. the physical layout of the restaurant makes it tough and stressful for the staff to accommodate heavycustomervolume on friday and saturday nights. and i think part of it is due to lack of organization or clear workflow for tasks like order taking and communicating where to stand. i haven't ever had a problem with staff members being unpleasant to me. they're just rushed the way that restaurant employees get rushed sometimes when everything piles up.

but this is an example of what i mean: a few weeks ago i called twice on a weeknight to place a carryout order and was asked to hold on, did so for 3-5 minutes while listening to the register employee taking counter orders (must have set the handset down on the counter), and then was hung up on for my trouble...both times. i was disappointed, but wasn't willing to try again at that point.

so in that respect, i think there is room for improvement in the area ofcustomerservice. however, they make good food that is reasonably priced, and this place is owner-operated and their love for this business is obvious. i really like this place and i'm willing to forgive a lot even when the service bums me out occasionally.
