toasted ravioli is pretty standard. caesar salad is super garlicky! pizza is awesome. thefoodisn't the one with issues though. waited about five minutes before anyone came out to seat us. the cook came out and, very rudely, told us to sit down if we weren't getting carry out. five more minutes went by, gave drink orders, including water. drinks were delivered but no water, had to ask for it. had to ask to order. had to ask for ranch dressing, twice. had to ask for more wine, the check, and a box. half way through the meal a short woman with tattoos walks in and condescendingly asks the swamped server (who is bussing tables, seating people, taking orders, running food) is the patio has been set up. the server says no. the lady throws her hands up in the air and storms out. if i were that server i'd tell that lady to set the patio herself. when you're in front of paying guests, that behavior is unacceptable. final verdict: mismanaged but great food, get carry out.

went here for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. the atmosphere is very relaxed and my calzone was delicious! the waitress was super nice and the chef/owner even came out to see how ourfoodwas. i'll definitely be returning to try more items on their menu. oh, and their chocolate cake is divine!

the art of pizza is among the top 3 most renowned deep dish restaurants in chicago (giordano's and lou malnati's are the other two). in my opinion, giordano's and lou malnati's have the better pizza. the art of pizza also has great pizza though. they serve deep dish by the slice so you don't need to always order a huge pizza. it's cheap and thefoodis great. i ordered a margarita and a pepperoni slice and both the slices were incredibly cheesy and satisfying.

i stopped here for some lunch before my flight and immediately found a seat at the bar. beverage service was quick, but it took a while to order food. the place was busy, but they had at least 3 people working behind the bar. thefoodcame quickly and was good (tilapia tacos). i ordered another drink and dessert right after i found out my flight was delayed. i began talking to the gentleman sitting next to me (who was also ordering food). we ended up ordering 2 more drinks each (after another flight delay notification). when the bartender asked if we needed anything else and we said 'no', we were immediately asked to leave because they had people waiting. we both had some of our drink left. i was appalled, as was my new friend. yes, we had been there a while. however, we were ordering food/drinks (aka spending money). it's not like we were sitting around just taking up real estate. it was a good experience up until then. i won't be back.

the pizza was fine but nothing extraordinary. the service, however, was absolutely horrible. they don't serve slices of pizza after a specific time and i did not see this advertised anywhere.

next, make sure you steer clear of their "black market" toppings... an extra $3.00 for jalapeños!

third, our poor waitress was clueless and very unhelpful. she got all of our orders confused with each other and could not answer any of our questions regarding the preparation of the food.

next, the cook felt the need to yell at our table from across the room and tell us that we were serving our pizza wrong (yes, we had to serve the slices ourselves).

lastly, for a pizza that's half veggie and half "meataholic," our total was over $40!

i couldn't believe how absolutely horrible my experience was at a locally owned and ran pizza joint. i will never be returning. the mediocrefoodis not worth how horrible you will be treated and how much they will overcharge you.

instead, try pizzabella across the street or just wait in the long line at grinders.

delicious by-the-slice or whole. i lived near art of pizza for awhile and took advantage, much to the chagrin of my waistline. simple decor that borders on cafeteria, but thefoodis amazing and i'd rather the owners concentrate on keeping the quality up and the costs low than upgrading the "dining" area.

great food, but shoddy management.. my friends and i were trying to get in somewhere to eat during first fridays. we knew we were in for a long wait no matter what, and were ready to be patient. i had walked by aop a million times, and never tried it. it was busy, but there were some tables on the patio open, so i figured this might be our best bet.
we walked inside and found a few people waiting. there was no host, but no signs to tell us to set ourselves, or anything. we waited for about 10 minutes before we realized that we were to snag a table if and when we could.
we finally grabbed one after another 8 minutes, and waited for a server.
and waited.
and waited.
and at one point a man who i am guessing is the manager asked another server "is that your table?" to which she replied "no. that's sam's." as if she was annoyed that he would suggest to take care of us, and walked away. right in front of us.
i'm a server, too. as far as i'm concerned, though a table might not be in your section, part of service is being able to provide that as a restaurant as a whole. to acknowledge, in front of guests, that you have no intentions of helping them, though they have been sitting there without being spoken to once for a substantial amount of time, is audacious. they might not be your guest, but they could be someday if you provided them with service that made them want to come back, not service that made them want to leave before they had even gotten a water.
about 5 more minutes passed, the manager grabbed another server (who we later found was our server, sam) and noted that a table had just been sat, but he wasn't talking about us. no, he was talking about the table next to us who had literally just sat down.
we were staring at them as he says this, praying they would notice, and sam says "well, what about that table?" talking about us.
"oh yeah. them too." i guess we were just a throw away table!
she came over, and honestly, she did a good job once she got to us, but since it was such a wait, it kind of was an unsalvageable experience by this point.
thefoodwas fine, we were starving by the point it came out.
we went to pay at the register, and as she closed our checks, the girl at the register leans over us and says to the people behind us. "are you guys paying or ordering?"
"ordering,"
to which she threw her hands up, shooed them, and walked away as she said, "well i can't take orders up here!"
i wanted to tell the poor guy not to waste his time, because i can promise you i won't, ever again.

food's great but.... i've never had a bad meal at art of pizza. thefoodis always great, it just takes for-ev-er to get. if you're on a tight lunch schedule, call ahead and get it to go.

today i had the lunch special, house salad, slice and a drink for $6.95. my husband ordered the meatball sub. we both really enjoyed the food. the meatball sub was so big he only ate half, the rest will hopefully be my lunch tomorrow!
