great food, but shoddy management.. my friends and i were trying to get in somewhere to eat during first fridays. we knew we were in for a long wait no matter what, and were ready to be patient. i had walked by aop a million times, and never tried it. it was busy, but there were some tables on the patio open, so i figured this might be our best bet.
we walked inside and found a few people waiting. there was no host, but no signs to tell us to set ourselves, or anything. we waited for about 10 minutes before we realized that we were to snag a table if and when we could.
we finally grabbed one after another 8 minutes, and waited for a server.
and waited.
and waited.
and at one point a man who i am guessing is the manager asked another server "is that your table?" to which she replied "no. that's sam's." as if she was annoyed that he would suggest to take care of us, and walked away. right in front of us.
i'm a server, too. as far as i'm concerned, though a table might not be in your section, part of service is being able to provide that as a restaurant as a whole. to acknowledge, in front of guests, that you have no intentions of helping them, though they have been sitting there without being spoken to once for a substantial amount of time, is audacious. they might not be your guest, but they could be someday if you provided them with service that made them want to come back, not service that made them want to leave before they had even gotten a water.
about 5 more minutes passed, the manager grabbed another server (who we later found was our server, sam) and noted that a table had just been sat, but he wasn't talking about us. no, he was talking about the table next to us who had literally just sat down.
we were staring at them as he says this, praying they would notice, and sam says "well, what about that table?" talking about us.
"oh yeah. them too." i guess we were just a throw away table!
she came over, and honestly, she did a good job once she got to us, but since it was such a wait, it kind of was an unsalvageable experience by this point.
thefoodwas fine, we were starving by the point it came out.
we went to pay at the register, and as she closed our checks, the girl at the register leans over us and says to the people behind us. "are you guys paying or ordering?"
"ordering,"
to which she threw her hands up, shooed them, and walked away as she said, "well i can't take orders up here!"
i wanted to tell the poor guy not to waste his time, because i can promise you i won't, ever again.
