dropped by for dinner at arippa a few nights ago and for a weekday, the place was super packed! we had to wait a bit to score a table and unsurprisingly, the food took a while as well. but our order was served all at once so we were able to dig right in. we ordered appam, porotta, alleppey chicken curry and beef kondattam. the appams were spectacular and by far some of the best we’ve had in a while. it was soft and tasted subtly of coconut milk, and we ended up ordering a couple more! the porotta was tasty as well, served hot and crispy. the beef kondattam though, was a hard pass. the beef was a tad bit too chewy and tasted just about average. the alleppey chicken curry on the other hand, was the clear highlight of the meal! we loved the rich and creamy gravy but were left disappointed by the fact that the dish didn’t have a single decent piece of chicken. we were left chewing on bones the whole time, which is probably why the gravy got an even better chance to shine through. they could’ve just priced the dish a bit higher and added boneless chicken instead. way to ruin a near-perfect dish guys! we’re definitely going back soon and trying it out again to see whether we were just short on luck that day. overall, i’d say the place has a lot to offer as the menu is quite interesting. the interiors are fun and colourful with portraits of iconic movie references with comfy seating and a decent crowd. definitely worth a visit!
