loved it!. so glad we now have afrenchrestaurant in jackson! opened in old aj's ridgeland location by restaurant group that owns amerigo, sombra, char, etc. lunch menu isfrenchbistro style. haven't made it to dinner there yet but i'm looking forward to it. thefrenchonion soup is yummy and so is the hot baguette with butter that is brought to the table!! menu has a nice selection of soups, salads and sandwiches with a few seafood and pasta dishes too.

i gave it a thumbs up but i'm not thrilled. it's not a bad restaurant, just not what i expected. i've only eaten at a few realfrenchrestaurants and anjou didn't offer a reasonably similar experience. while the food was good, it could have been better. thefrenchonion soup was a big on the thin side and didn't have a ton of onion. my quiche was actually pretty good but the top was burnt.

the gf had the beef and blue cheese crepe and it was surprisingly good as was the vege side.

i'll give it another try, but i'm not blown away. the atmosphere is a bit stuffy. i and my girlfriend were probably the only people there under the age of 50 and there were at least 15 other patrons.

why out of all the fabulous restaurants in jackson/madison would i eat at the same restaurant twice in five days?.... because we have anjou!frenchproprietor, anne and her father, the executive chef both knew just what the metro needed and now we can't get enough of this place!

located in the former aj's, the decor hasn't changed: dark walnut floors, wide dining chairs, although thefrenchmay laugh, a huge bar area with plenty of signature cocktails to boot. the anjou, is a must-try: grey goose, chambord, pineapple - mind you the cocktail comes out purple with shaved ice and a bit of froth. my parents loved the "new fashion", similar to an old fashion with the single large ice cube. the wine list is reasonably extensive and priced well.

for appetizers, i recommend the vegetable soup with pesto, in a chicken broth base with green beans, kidney beans, potatoes -delicious, yet light. my father loved thefrenchonion soup- just as the nativefrenchwould prepare- excellent. the seared tuna entree was just perfect- and a hearty fillet at that, served over cous cous with calmatta olives and tomatoes. our favorite entree was the scallop, shrimp & crab crepe which was light, i prefer the bechemel on the side.

the service was outstanding. all of the bartenders, dane, tameka, our waitress and anne made our experience all the better. very friendly and attentive, but not overly, which is good!

get a res!

i’m not sure why i haven’t been here since anjou came to this location a while back, but after today’s food & good service, i’ll be frequenting more often. a simple and classicfrenchdip with fresh cut frites couldn’t have been more tender, crisp delicious. a beautiful establishment with a great view.

we felt welcome from the first moment. staff and management was friendly. the food was really wonderful. we ordered a salad with feta dressing andfrenchonion soup to start. both good. i ordered the redfish and hubby ordered steak frites. the steak was amazing. the redfish was a large portion and cooked well. the mashed potatoes were a little bland, but overall both entrees were great. we also ordered desserts. cheesecake tart and peach diplomat. they were ok. not great but not bad. my bread pudding was a bit dry and burnt on the bottom. could've used more sauce. hubby said cheesecake tart was ok.
we will definitely be returning.

diner food for fine dining price. we ordered savory zucchini beignets, frenchonion soup, ribeye, redfish, chocolate profiteroles, strawberry crepes! beignets were good, soup was good, ribeye was ok! after that, redfish was dry & chewy, profiteroles were terrible, strawberry crepes were burnt! i've also had the tarte tatin & it was terrible! if you're going to charge such high prices, it better be good! i won't be back!

classy with good service. hubby and i had lunch there today and we were quite pleased with the food and the service. the price for a wonderful huge sandwich plus a big portion offrenchonion soup at about $10 was a great value. in fact, i think next time we will share that because more than half the sandwich was left when he had eaten as much as he wanted. i had a lovely salad with one or their several house-made dressings along with a spinach & goat cheese quiche which was amazingly light and fluffy which was on a delicious, flaky crust that i'm sure was home-made. at $10.50, again a great value. we also had two teas which were refilled regularly and shared a delicious strawberry crepe. this was all for about $35 plus tax. first class service all the way from anthony. the manager also dropped by from welcome us and we enjoyed a little chat. we will definitely go back.

great lunch!. had lunch with a client here and it was fabulous! i had the croix madamme, which is wonderfully soft bread, smothered in ham and cheese, then drenched with a sauce and a sunny side up egg. so good, i will be back soon. it came with a huge cup offrenchonion soup, covered in cheese. one of the best lunches i've had in the jackson area in a long time. so nice to try something other than nicks and char with a client. i think i will save room for the upside down apple pie next time. enjoy.

awesome... period!. a group of friends and i ventured out to ridgeland for a birthday dinner and to try some finefrenchcuisine. needless to say, anjou delivered. i had the linguini seafood entre with a couple of their own anjou cocktails which were absolutely amazing! the cheese and meats appetizers were also great (minus the funky stench of the blue cheese..barf).. we enjoyed birthday cake and their vanilla bean ice cream for dessert and it was simply divine. our waiter, matt, was great! we occupied one of the party rooms so it was plenty of us but he handled it well. :) i'd absolutely have to go back when i'm in ms to try some of the other dishes my friends had (that were also great). the setting, the service, and most importantly, the food was well worth the trip!

breath of fresh air!. have been 3 times now, all for dinner, and love this place! having spent time in france, it is not a parisian-style restaurant, but more like the true local restaurants you will find all over france.

from day one, the service has been excellent. they are always prompt but never rush you. in truefrenchfashion, you can feel free to enjoy meal, drinks, and company. you will see people dressed in formal wear at one table and others in dressy casual and jeans at the next table...and both look perfectly at home. it's a very comfortable environment!

- the escargot is superb and better than any i have ever had in france. the mussels are also delicious.
- thefrenchonion soup is very good.
- my favorite entrees so far are the crepe aux fruits de mer (seafood crepes) and the magret de canard (seared duck). the steak frites is also excellent.

the only thing missing from the menu that i would dearly love to see added is foie gras!

they have an excellent wine list. the desserts leave something to be desired, but the food is so delicious, i rarely have room for dessert anyway.

we are fortunate to have some very good restaurants in the jackson area, and anjou can now be added to that list. what really sets it apart is that it offers a completely different cuisine than everything in or even near jackson.

bon appetit!!!

this week, eat jackson’s quest to honor the tastiest ice cream dishes around town led us to anjou, the newfrenchrestaurant located at the township in ridgeland. you may remember our spotlight on anjou earlier this summer, where we mentioned that thefrenchlanguage dominates the restaurant menu. my knowledge offrenchdoesn’t go much farther than “oui” or “baguette,” but underneath the menu’s bold-faced words of les desserts (easy enough!) was something any southerner would instantly recognize: ice cream!
