loved it!. so glad we now have a french restaurant in jackson! opened in old aj's ridgeland location by restaurant group that owns amerigo, sombra, char, etc. lunch menu is french bistro style. haven't made it to dinner there yet but i'm looking forward to it. the french onion soup is yummy and so is the hot baguette with butter that is brought to the table!! menu has a nice selection of soups, salads and sandwiches with a few seafood and pasta dishes too.

my husband and i went for the first time last night for our anniversary. the restaurant itself it so pretty with lovely views of the lake. the food was phenomenal! from the escargot and beignets as our appetizer to the redfish and filet as our main course. and i cannot forget the apple tarte tatin. the service was excellent as well. very friendly staff that made us feel so welcome. will definitely be going back!

charming and delicious. we have dinned there twice, and have been pleased each time. for starters, we have tried the assiette de fromages (cheese plate) and the beignet de courgettes with feta. the beignets blew us away. this is a must try dish. for our entrees, we had the crepe (stuffed with seafood) and the linguini ( shrimp and andoullie sausage); we enjoyed both, but the linguini was the solid winner between the two. for dessert we had the apple tart and caramel custard.

our second visit was for lunch, and we enjoyed the proscuitto, brie, and fig sandwich, the ham and cheese and egg sandwich, and a quiche lorraine. sandwiches come with soup, salad, or fries. overall, we really enjoyed both the food and the unique experience. we can't wait to go back.

we had the zucchini beignets, and they were fantastic. not sweet like a new orleans beignet. the seafood crepe and redfish with hollandaise were both really, really good. service was great. we can't wait to go back!

i gave it a thumbs up but i'm not thrilled. it's not a bad restaurant, just not what i expected. i've only eaten at a few real french restaurants and anjou didn't offer a reasonably similar experience. while the food was good, it could have been better. the french onion soup was a big on the thin side and didn't have a ton of onion. my quiche was actually pretty good but the top was burnt.

the gf had the beef and blue cheese crepe and it was surprisingly good as was the vege side.

i'll give it another try, but i'm not blown away. the atmosphere is a bit stuffy. i and my girlfriend were probably the only people there under the age of 50 and there were at least 15 other patrons.

why out of all the fabulous restaurants in jackson/madison would i eat at the same restaurant twice in five days?.... because we have anjou! french proprietor, anne and her father, the executive chef both knew just what the metro needed and now we can't get enough of this place!

located in the former aj's, the decor hasn't changed: dark walnut floors, wide dining chairs, although the french may laugh, a huge bar area with plenty of signature cocktails to boot. the anjou, is a must-try: grey goose, chambord, pineapple - mind you the cocktail comes out purple with shaved ice and a bit of froth. my parents loved the "new fashion", similar to an old fashion with the single large ice cube. the wine list is reasonably extensive and priced well.

for appetizers, i recommend the vegetable soup with pesto, in a chicken broth base with green beans, kidney beans, potatoes -delicious, yet light. my father loved the french onion soup- just as the native french would prepare- excellent. the seared tuna entree was just perfect- and a hearty fillet at that, served over cous cous with calmatta olives and tomatoes. our favorite entree was the scallop, shrimp & crab crepe which was light, i prefer the bechemel on the side.

the service was outstanding. all of the bartenders, dane, tameka, our waitress and anne made our experience all the better. very friendly and attentive, but not overly, which is good!

get a res!

i’m not sure why i haven’t been here since anjou came to this location a while back, but after today’s food & good service, i’ll be frequenting more often. a simple and classic french dip with fresh cut frites couldn’t have been more tender, crisp delicious. a beautiful establishment with a great view.

we felt welcome from the first moment. staff and management was friendly. the food was really wonderful. we ordered a salad with feta dressing and french onion soup to start. both good. i ordered the redfish and hubby ordered steak frites. the steak was amazing. the redfish was a large portion and cooked well. the mashed potatoes were a little bland, but overall both entrees were great. we also ordered desserts. cheesecake tart and peach diplomat. they were ok. not great but not bad. my bread pudding was a bit dry and burnt on the bottom. could've used more sauce. hubby said cheesecake tart was ok.
we will definitely be returning.

worth the visit. my girlfriend and i celebrated our anniversary at anjou in late january. the atmosphere is refined, yet relaxed, and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. he sold me on their special, the mahi-mahi with lemon dill butter, while my girlfriend ordered their duck au poivre. the mahi-mahi came with green beans and home fries, neither of which were that special. the dill in the butter was slightly overwhelming, but the fish was cooked perfectly and fork tender. my girlfriend's duck came with a side of sweet potatoes that practically melt in your mouth and wonderfully seasoned spinach that was a happy medium between crispy and sautéed. the duck, however, was the true star of the night, cooked to a perfect medium rare with a light smoky flavor that left us wanting more. all in all, a good stop for a special night out.
