ale emporium

terrible service tonight. having a great night with coworkers and ordered absolute favorite 3floyd's gumballhead. ordered 2nd round and was told only warmbeerwas available. asked for a discount or if there was anything a mgr could do but was told nothing they could do. mgr brian perkins came to table and rolled eyes after we explained the issue. too bad since table already had a 100+ tab and was trying to spend more $. suggest owners or senior mgmt consider that your waitress lost out on 20-30 when we paid checks and walked and the business lost out on at least $50 in additional sales (prob more..) and pushed out regular customers(avg 3x per month) who always spend 100+ and then leave 20+% tips. i guess you have too many of those to offer a half price domestic draft while warmbeergets iced down or any discount on the apps ordered to incentivize a table to stay and spend more $. z

service was attentive, and the waitress was knowledgable about thebeerand food. it is an open air restaurant with outside seating too. it is in a strip mall so outside overlooks the parking lot. we enjoyed a plate of meaty wings with hermanaki sauce along with some tasty beers. we would return when in the mood for some good wings.

the ale is great!! awesome wings (hermaican and hermanaki), widebeerselection, and good pizza. the staff is also very friendly and attentive!

best bar food ever. seriously. the hermanaki wings are insane. the fries are ridiculous. thebeerselection is mind blowing. the pizza is irresistible. the fried pickles are inspired. 10/10. see you next week.

excellent menu, great food. this is my favorite bar in indianapolis. the first thing you should know is that there are two bars, and the easiest way for me to describe how to switch between them is to just go to the bathroom since you'll see the other side on your way.

i like the smaller, quieter tv-filled wooden atmosphere of the bar on the south end of the building. thebeerselection is huge and constantly changing; i've even had dark lord here, which is one of only 4000 bottles made per year. that is a testament to their constant excellence in maintaining a greatbeerlist.

other than the outstandingbeerselection and great atmosphere, the food is really great. the hermanaki wings are a must every time i come here with buddies, and the pizza is no slouch either. once its cooled on the drive home the pizza seems a little too dense with cheese, but thats not to say it isn't great while you're there.

all-in-all i compare every bar to this place since it has such a great package: sports, quiet pub-like atmosphere, a louder alternative if you prefer that, excellent selection and a surprisingly good menu. i give it a 9/10 cause its about as good as it gets.

good beer, okay food. excellentbeerselection, but what else would you expect from a place that calls itself the 'ale emporium.' drinks were a little more expensive than what i pay elsewhere. i also wasn't overly impressed with the food though. i ordered a garden burger and expected something freshly made in-house, as the menu states that it is made "from nature's finest ingredients." unfortunately it looks like they just threw a zapped boca burger on a bun. the toppings were decent, but definitely not worth the $9 that you pay for it.

best wings in indy. hermanaki wings and deep dish pizza are to die for! wish they had betterbeerspecials throughout the week, but still one of my favorite spots.

greatbeerselection. sit in the "back bar". non-smoking and much cleaner!

have passed by this place for years. a friend wanted to meet there. shocked. outstanding. as the name suggests, tons of awesomebeerselections. easily the best wings in town and the pizza is off the hook good....only complaint is too much cheese...but can that be a bad thing?

bar food or pub food???. i think if you try a vast majority of the items on the ale emporium's menu, you would very quickly determine that this is not "bar food". with almost all of the items on the menu being done from scratch, items ranging from the "hermanaki" wings to the margherita pizza to the spicy steak wrap are done with love. upon tasting the food, it is very obvious that the kitchen staff here cares about the food they serve.

with that said, it is quite a shame that places like scotty's and bw-3, etc. are still given awards based on the quality of their wings. i truly believe that the grilled wings from the ale emporium are the best in the city. hands down. their pizza is not necessarily "gourmet", but it holds its own against any pizza in the area.

service can seem spotty to any newcomer to the bar area. they do not have table service, but most bartenders will make a valiant effort to take your order from your table. i recommend ordering at the bar and letting the bartender know where you are seated. they will keep you taken care of. take care of them before you leave.

i don't think the ale emporium would qualify as a "gastropub", but i think it could be the best "pub food" in the area (they also have a pretty decentbeerand liquor selection).

pizza and beer. one of the best pizza places in the city. deep dish, chicago style pizzas with enough cheese to clog every artery and organ in your body. on the upside, though, the alcohol expands blood vessels and theirbeerselection is good, but not great with limited brands on draught.

awesome wings. great pizza and great service. thebeerselection is one of the best in town

good burgers. decentbeerlist. stay away from the pizza in this bar.
