first time, and it's delicious!. this is the first time i've triedeasterneuropean food (seriously!) and it was absolutely delicious!

my husband and i ordered the meat lovers platter, which is meant to feed 2 people. it came with mushroom-stuffed meatloaf topped with gravy, beef stroganoff (no noddles), beef goulash, and fried potatoes. talk about delicious! satisfying and very stick to your ribs. i imagine this to be the equivalent of comfort food ineasterneurope. my husband and i just kept saying it was "so good" and "delicious" because there were really no other words for it!

the staff was super friendly, and multiple times throughout our meal, the owner asked to see how we were and how our food was.

the restaurant is also part store as well, and there were a lot ofeasterneuropean decor and knick-knacks. we enjoyed looking around while we waited for our meal.

we finished the meal with nutella crepes which were also good, and my husband said they reminded him of the ones he's had while he lived in germany.

needless to say, we'll go back whenever we're down in the dallas area again.

real food. four diners, four great cups of cold borscht, four substantial entrees, and drinks...$80 with tax.easterneuropean food is, apparently, made for people who really enjoy "hearty". no wimpy spring mix or "sautéed in a light tarragon scented olive oil" here. this stuff had seasoning, mouth feel, and heft. try the hot tea with honey...really fragrant and satisfying. plus, the gift shop makes it a destination, not just great eats.

great russian cuisine. i love this place for its warm atmosphere, great food, and fairly priced shopping. i found a wide variety of impressiveeasterneuropean relics, such as icons, medals, army and navy uniforms, patriotic pins, and a bunch of other things, many of them decades old, yet in excellent condition. there are shelves of books by russian authors as well as current magazines. taste of europe also offers delicious food in the grocery and restaurant parts, all russian cuisine. the perogi, dumplings with potato filling, are to die for! i've been getting them every time i go there ever since i tried them. so good! even the service is great! the owner, mikhail, is always interesting and fun to talk with. the restaurant/shop is one of my favorite spots in arlington.
