had a bit of a cathartic experience over the matcha hotcakes. when it arrived i was shocked, i had never seen anything like this in my life. probably the closest thing would be one of those crazy matcha desserts you order with every possible topping because 'why not'. it was whimsical, ridiculous, colourful, like a kandinsky on a plate and i just sat there looking at it for a long while (please see picture).
it had fruit salad w/ coconut, matcha hotcake with azuki, fairy floss, matcha 'ganache' chocolates, nuts, flowers and a red wine poached pear. with each bite i tried to make a new combination of the flavours but still i just didn't understand the dish at all, it was utterly complex and so far removed from reality. i began to laugh. the dish was like abstract art both in visuals and in taste, perplexing but somehow...good??
so that was a new experience. i absolutely loved the setup of the cafe, it felt so comfortable and friendly with a vintage charm and super friendlyserviceto match. cappucino was decent, loved the s/o.
