9 spoons - the bayleaf hotel

the food is delicious and the serving is good for sharing. the view is overlooking manila. the service crews are very friendly and helpful, accommodating too! their ensaymada is my personal favorite. they do serve complimentary hot bread which is really good. you can avail the hotel’s valet parking for 50php (1usd) just don’t forget to ask one of the restaurant staff to validate your parking ticket.

9 spoons is a great spot for quick finding under the metro. high above the intramuros skyline, this reaturant offers quiet an dintimate dining + ac (so hot these days). we ordered chorizo and shrimp quesadillo and pasta. good quality food. servers are very attentive. we also received a complimentary home baked bread and butter! definitely worl coming back especially with zomato gold! another perfect 1+1 spot :) forgot to take pictures because we were so happy catching up and eating food.

upon entering we are greeted with a smile of the server, honestly speaking food taste average , we ordered the pasta and cheese steak with signature fries, carbonara noodles were firm and the taste is bland, for the cheese steak it is average. fries were okay though and the serving is generous also, the signature ice tea the one that stands out to me really superb, hehe , the ambiance is wonderful with pianist playing live, service is a bit slow but it is understandable since it is like a fine dining, we will try again next time for their other foods just to be fair, but for now here is my honest opinion.

had lunch here and their food is superb. the theme for today was tex-mex and while the selection is few, the food is really really good. i would choose this over big buffets which only have substandard selections.

same menu as sky deck bayleaf.... 2nd option if sky deck is fully booked..... service is good....

food here was always decent. visited like 3 times already and it never fails to hit the spot when craving for a quick fix of everything you want for breakfast (tip: eatigo has 50% off on their buffet bfast so check it out). selection is not that many but hey for the price who would complain? 👌

been here two times with my girlfriend, for both our 1st and 2nd anniversary. we just love the food and ambience here! compared to other fine dining restaurants, their menu is much cheaper and more plenty. what we ordered are:

poutine - very tasty and plenty of gravy served with beef toppings
chimichangas - deep fried beef burritos that are big in size. taste is just average and could and skin is a little tough when served to us.
teriyaki chicken - spicy korean chicken that is plenty in servings as well.
beef tapa bowl 👍 - our personal favorite and recommendation, this is our favorite dish due to their unique vinegar sauce and the rich taste of the beef strips.

ambiance - you get a good view of intramuros and the manila city hall due to the restaurant being located at the second most top floor, and a few people only dine here due to skyroof deck being more popular, this restaurant can be a good alternative for people who like to dine on quite places.

cost - since this is a fine dining restaurant, expect the price to be more expensive than your usual diners or fast food chain. but don't be disheartened by the prices, as their menu is cheaper as compared to other restaurants and they serve plenty of portions on their food.

service - staff are friendly on our first and second visits. they would always accompany us to the seats where the view is the most beautiful and romantic. kudos to the staff!

overall - 4 / 5
i cannot complain on their service and ambience of the place. only part that i think of that needs improvement is their menu. their menu lacks a little variety compared to other restaurants. overall, a must try for folks that are new in the fine dining scene!

the kinilaw na laman dagat was made with frozen fish.
instead of comping it, they used my promo for them to cut their cost. very unprofessional

we had a reservation which they acknowledged a day before. this was not our first time and i know reservations are necessary to be able to have seats in the small restaurant. we have guests who came from the us and an early dinner is suitable for catch-ups. when we got there with the fam, to our surprise there was a debutante party in 9spoons! we were asked to transfer in the skydeck! clouds were looming and started to rain, we were asked again to transfer to a meeting room at the third floor complete with a projector screen and round tables for which we were the only ones in there!
this is one of my worst experiences in a hotel restaurant, if not the worst.
they should've told us upon our reservation the previous day, that they couldn't accommodate us, which is what good businesses would do. i don't know why they took our reservation only to be transferred to another place.
we did bargain, because it is such a bother to look for another restaurant when all are hungry. but the hotel did not budge. they insisted on what they want.
we left full of disappointment and went to the manila hotel instead.

food was ok and affordable than expected. but i felt ripped off by their server. before ordering, i already asked if i can use my zomato gold even if there were seniors who will be using their discounts. he said that he'll make arrangements so that we could use both. come the settlement of our bill, he suddenly said that we can only use either the zomato gold, which i already unlocked that time, or the sc discounts.

we had our breakfast here today. it's located at their penthouse and it has a smoking area outside. will give you access to the roofdeck - good place to chill at night 😊

the breakfast buffet is superb. i loved their eggplant parmigiana, its super duper perfect!!

we ordered spicy gyoza & mexican fries. we loved the fries and the gyoza was okay. unfortunately, their whiskey sour was a disappointment. too expensive for how it tasted.

i wouldn't recommend their breakfast buffet because of lack of variety. there's the staple egg station but no bacon. they also ran out of their yummy ham and didn't refill anymore. they changed it with something less yummy. they were a bit slow in refilling the dishes.

would i eat here again? yes, if i have no choice and i'm checked in at the hotel. will i look forward to eating here again? no.

delicious familiar food in bigger than expected portions! our first visit won't be the last! we now have a new favorite! we love the mexican fries and the chicken tandoori salad. kudos to angie, their very friendly, efficient and accomodating staff.
