9 spoons is a great spot for quick finding under the metro. high above theintramurosskyline, this reaturant offers quiet an dintimate dining + ac (so hot these days). we ordered chorizo and shrimp quesadillo and pasta. good quality food. servers are very attentive. we also received a complimentary home baked bread and butter! definitely worl coming back especially with zomato gold! another perfect 1+1 spot :) forgot to take pictures because we were so happy catching up and eating food.

been here two times with my girlfriend, for both our 1st and 2nd anniversary. we just love the food and ambience here! compared to other fine dining restaurants, their menu is much cheaper and more plenty. what we ordered are:

poutine - very tasty and plenty of gravy served with beef toppings
chimichangas - deep fried beef burritos that are big in size. taste is just average and could and skin is a little tough when served to us.
teriyaki chicken - spicy korean chicken that is plenty in servings as well.
beef tapa bowl 👍 - our personal favorite and recommendation, this is our favorite dish due to their unique vinegar sauce and the rich taste of the beef strips.

ambiance - you get a good view ofintramurosand the manila city hall due to the restaurant being located at the second most top floor, and a few people only dine here due to skyroof deck being more popular, this restaurant can be a good alternative for people who like to dine on quite places.

cost - since this is a fine dining restaurant, expect the price to be more expensive than your usual diners or fast food chain. but don't be disheartened by the prices, as their menu is cheaper as compared to other restaurants and they serve plenty of portions on their food.

service - staff are friendly on our first and second visits. they would always accompany us to the seats where the view is the most beautiful and romantic. kudos to the staff!

overall - 4 / 5
i cannot complain on their service and ambience of the place. only part that i think of that needs improvement is their menu. their menu lacks a little variety compared to other restaurants. overall, a must try for folks that are new in the fine dining scene!

if you’re in the heart of manila, 9 spoons at the bayleaf is a great place for dining with friends and family. food is very good and reasonably priced and portions are great for sharing. we always get the tartufo funghi pasta because we’re very partial to anything with truffle oil. come in for lunch and you would almost have the whole place to yourself, but you might have to ask the staff to turn up the ac. the bar upstairs gets crowded at night but has a great view ofintramurosand the surrounding areas.

9 spoons is one of the restaurants in the bayleaf hotel. it is good to have lunch here, enjoying your food with the view of theintramuroswalls. we were seated near the windows. it was good since we had a nice view but we began feeling warm in a couple of minutes because of the sunlight reflected by the glass wall. their food is amazing. we had the pinakbet (p320), bayleaf signature bagnet (p460) and garlic milkfish belly (p380) which was way too much for two people. my favorite dish is the garlic milkfish belly, i really liked the guinataang kangkong with aligue sauce. the waiter recommended the ensaymada pudding (p240) and we were not disappointed. it was soft but not too soggy and was just the right amount of sweetness 🍃

the bayleafintramurosis a great place to enjoy and eat.. i was quite skeptical at first on how the food would taste here, and if it would taste like a simple hotel restaurant, but i was pleasantly surprised that the food here is great! they played with the taste of the food and provided such exquisite touch! i especially love their glazed chicken, a mix of both sweet and spicy with a dash of tomatoes and onions to balance the taste! a definite must go restaurant for families, friends, or even dates with the ones you love!

food 5.0- the bayleaf restaurant provide authentic spanish dishes which mesmerizes the spanish colonization. truly this restaurant is the best inintramurosarea. one problem that i saw was limited dishes, no fried rice and the okoy was oily.

must order dishes are :

crispy kare kare(5/5)- very appetizing specially the nutty broth and the bagoong :)

bagnet sinigang(5/5)- this sinigang is one of the kind. the taste of bagnet compliments to the very sour soup of sinigang. very delicious .

chili calamari(4/5)- this is also very delicious but one thing is their squid is small and i think the dip can improve more.

lengua sevillana (5/5)- this was my favorite dish , the super soft lengua, it's like im eating a potchi. very mouthwatering.

okoy and pork rolls(4/5)- too plain nothing spectacular and oily

carbonara pizza(4/5) -this menu is for rafaelle restaurant the restaurant under bayleaf also. i like the crispness of crust. but the hotness and freshness of the pizza cant contain because they only serve it on plates.

definitely will go back to review other items.

amibance/location 4.5- very atracting interiors, classy and elegant. breathtaking views, specially the rooftop where you can also dine and drink. one thing that i dont like is the aircon seems to be broken. too hot and there is foul smell at the entrance. hoping that will be fixed soon.

plating 4.5- very simple plating but sometimes being simple was enough. i like their presentation. nothing spectacular but class.

service 3.5- average grade for serving, they provide good service, but the waiters, servers are not approachable and they lack on some communicating or entertaining.

all in all this restaurant is rated 4.5! i enjoyed the 9 spoons dining experience. must recommended for formal dinner and special gatherings.

after taking a calesa ride withinintramurosto see historical sites and war ruins, we decided to kick back and relax at 9 spoons. it is actually the penthouse restaurant of bayleaf hotel that overlooks the golf course and the city of manila. the view from the top was magnificent (see pic). it gave me newfound appreciation for a city i rarely get to visit. it was sunset and the cool wind made our chillout session (haha) a pleasant one. 9spoons has a nacho bar and we decided to have an order. the serving was good for four and the toppings were generously portioned. the chips were deep fried in-house and  the beef was hearty. the cheese sauce provided creamy saltiness while the tomatoes, spices and chilies kept things interesting with timely zaps to my tastebuds. we also had some sandwiches and churros brought over from the ground floor coffee shop (ciocolatta con churros). the churros were freshly cooked and the chocolate dip was rich and dark just the way we like it. the blt sandwich was average. it was my first time inside the newly renovated manila cathedral, to walk by the famous walls and to see the  actual  war prisons, weapons and battle sites. the wholeintramurosexperience was a good day for us. and 9 spoons made it even better.

9 spoons.

the bayleaf hotel, name after the family who owns it, laurels. (yes that's a trivia. bayleaf means laurel in tagalog.) my school also, was own by them. practically, bayleaf is the second school of culinary and practicumers. it was built for school purposes and business also.

it was grown wide, beautifully famous because of its significant view. manila skyline, intramurosgolf club and historical walls of intramuros. what else would you wish to see?

bias thing is, i'm a fan of this hotel that whenever i want a coffee before my class, i'll go to cioccolata. sometimes at night, i go to bayleaf's skydeck with friends. i love how it's just few steps away from school.

then yesterday, we decided to chill at skydeck. then turn out, it has an event and we couldn't enter until 9 pm. and i realize i was hungry. accidentally, i saw two people dining down the skydeck in an open air with fantastic view. seriously, i never saw there was a dining place beside skydeck's stairs but i knew 9 spoons ever since. what i didn't think about is that skydeck is connected with 9 spoons.

all that view i wanted, is also what you can see at 9 spoons. surprise how i accident found a open wied rooftop restaurant... like i always wanted!!!

the design of 9 spoons is simply elegant and very captivating. most especially at night, you'll see dashing lights of manila. most of the customers are couples, you could smell love in the air.

let's go to the food. we ordered choritos fritos mixed with black pudding for appetizer. fantastically good and the black pudding combined well with the choritos. (rating 4.5)
bagnet classic. (9 spoons best seller) i didn't know what bagnet taste but my friend said it's the best bagnet she tasted. well cooked and pork skin is crunchy. (5.0)
beef pasta. nothing new, the souce goes well with the pasta. (3.0)
for dessert, i never figure out what chocolate wall is made out of. it's not moist, ice cream cake nor a melted chocolate bar. taste exactly like a whole chocolate with a bit crunch outside and soft inside. comes with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, caramel syrup and cinnamon on both side. i'll tell you this, it's irresistibly delish. i mean so good you'll forgot your name and i even licked my spoon in last bite. that's how good it is, i swear. if you will visit here, don't forget to order this one! you won't regret experiencing one of a kind dessert. 5.0!++ excellent!

this review is the longest i made. i never forget the chocolate wall and sunset viewing experience while dining. one of the best i had!

i've been looking for a rooftop restaurant for quite some time now, and the closest i found in manila before were the top-floor restaurants in vivere, alabang and diamond hotel along roxas blvd.

i got to know of this rooftop restaurant in intramuros, with a great view of manila's city hall and theintramurosgolf course. but just imagining the traffic from bonifacio global city tointramurosalmost deterred me from considering it.

nevertheless, i thought it would be the perfect setting to surprise my wife for our dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and so we went...

the bayleaf hotel lobby greets guests with its minimalist design and repeating patterns of the bayleaf icon
you have to take the elevator to go all the way up to the 9th floor
we lowered our expectations because, sometimes, eating in a culinary school-run restaurant can be a bit risky due to the inconsistency of the food and service.

on a clear day, most people prefer to eat on the sky deck (you have to go to the rooftop to get there).the rooftop has an alfresco bar
we love the comfortable couch chairs that overlook the golf course and manila city hall

the complimentary bread basket was served hot, with soft rolls that were just enough to prepare our stomach.

fresh soup of the day - cream of vegetables.
the cool breeze on the rooftop was quite pleasant and conducive to having soup. we do hope they offer noodle soup and ramen options in the menu in the future.

eating while sitting on the couch proved to be a bit of a challenge. the table is really low -- ideal for pica pica but not for a sit-down dinner. but we didn't mind; we just held the plates close to us as we ate.

the kanji beef salad (charred beef, asian vegetables, herbs) was delicious! the roasted sesame japanese-like dressing brought out the flavors of the 4 slices of beef and complemented the greens. it was like having steak on a bed of salad.

the food and drinks are priced like in any hotel, a bit expensive but with good quality.

9 spoons serves international cuisine as well as filipino dishes. we ordered the fried hainanese chicken rice best seller, and it met our expectations.
the boneless meat was juicy and served on a hot plate. it did taste a bit more roasted than fried, though, and the ginger and soy sauce were already mixed in with the chicken (instead of having the sauces on the side), but we still enjoyed it.

we also tried the best seller in the filipino ala carte menu - callos manileno (roasted bell peppers, olives, morcilla. served with white rice). their version of callos has big chunks of sausages, and meat with roasted peppers, olives and morcilla.
the tomato-based soup was rich and thick, perfect with the plain white rice. the serving size is good for 2-3 people.

the roofdeck view of manila is simply awesome!
