after a long day in immigration bureau, i headed to 9spoons for my lunch. this place treated me with a picturesque view of the old city and wood fired pizza.

try their bagnet, it's a bit oily but very good. the best bagnet in manila. comes with a cup of rice and quite big serving good for two to three, the asian chicken salad is surprisingly good. the ambience - well great view of intramuros and nice for dates. will definitely return and try their other dishes.

what they are serving were 5 start quality food with no gourmet twist.

as it is the food that they prepare are a must try even if you know the taste, but the one they have is so addicting

it was my first time to step foot at the bayleaf hotel, and my first time to try 9 spoons due to a corporate function. i have a high expectations since it won a lot of awards and highly mentioned. sadly, i was disappointed.

for the buffet spread, we had several dishes that included pasta, chicken, fish, pork, beef, vegetables, salads, and dessert. most of the dishes were dry, especially the fish. i think i appreciated the salads and pasta, but since it was a penne carbonara, i quickly became satiated. the pumpkin and carrot soup was ok, but it got saltier in the end. the bread and butter was the best dish for the night, it was flavorful and light. the chocolate cake with caramel is also good. unfortunately, no round two for me. and when asked, if i wanted to take any leftovers, i declined.

i hope they can do better. i hope to try their real breakfast and lunch spread soon.

spent 2 special events in my life here, a special date with my boyfriend and my graduation in med school. the kanji beef salad is a must order! my dad can't get enough of their kare-kare and ordered 2 servings 😂😂 they really know their filipino dishes well! after devouring food, go up the skydeck and enjoy the beautiful view 😊🌴🌿🌞🌘🌃🌆

this is the worst tasting buffet i have had in my entire life.

i had to ask the waiter to change my plate for five times. the plates were oily and seems like it was unwashed.

service was terrible. the food was not even hot. the pork loin was tough and too dry. the soup was very salty (misua with patola), seems like the whole container of salt fell inside the soup. squid ink rice noodle had no taste at all. the coffee was terrible. if they served nescafe 3-in-1 it would have been way better than what they gave me.

the only thing i liked were the beef caldareta and the halo halo.

breakfast buffet #3 (840am 22aug2015

highly recommended: proper pinoy breakfast is tapa and fried sunny side up egg which is done wonderfully by 9spoons

wifey liked the sausage with onions

get also the fish with tartar and omelette with everything

breakfast buffet #2 (840am 16aug2015)

highly recommended: cappuccino, pork adobo and roasted tomatoes

breakfast buffet (8am 15aug2015)

had "cold" omelette :) tastes nice but might have been better hot :) will try again tomorrow

fish with tartar "a bit salty" for my taste (and a like salty things) might be to offset the strong flavor of the tartar which i did not have

rice was cooked nicely

lomi was okay. noodles were in a separate bowl for you to add. a twist to the usual way it is presented/served. i placed a lot of spring onions

had bircher muesli :) always a favorite of mine and reminds me of geneva a lot :) prepared the sweet filipino way :)

had some greens, shredded carrots and onions

cheese and cold cuts were okay

nice start to a stressful weekend

happy to be staying at bayleaf hotel with buffet breakfast at 9spoons (around php 5000)

this place offers aside from its gastronomic menu is the night skyline view of manila city. the shrimp and pomelo salad is a circus in your mouth while their classic bagnet is to die for. highly recommended for couples who are looking for a romantic setup/view.

rated 4.5

food 5.0- the bayleaf restaurant provide authentic spanish dishes which mesmerizes the spanish colonization. truly this restaurant is the best in intramuros area. one problem that i saw was limited dishes, no fried rice and the okoy was oily.

must order dishes are :

crispy kare kare(5/5)- very appetizing specially the nutty broth and the bagoong :)

bagnet sinigang(5/5)- this sinigang is one of the kind. the taste of bagnet compliments to the very sour soup of sinigang. very delicious .

chili calamari(4/5)- this is also very delicious but one thing is their squid is small and i think the dip can improve more.

lengua sevillana (5/5)- this was my favorite dish , the super soft lengua, it's like im eating a potchi. very mouthwatering.

okoy and pork rolls(4/5)- too plain nothing spectacular and oily

carbonara pizza(4/5) -this menu is for rafaelle restaurant the restaurant under bayleaf also. i like the crispness of crust. but the hotness and freshness of the pizza cant contain because they only serve it on plates.

definitely will go back to review other items.

amibance/location 4.5- very atracting interiors, classy and elegant. breathtaking views, specially the rooftop where you can also dine and drink. one thing that i dont like is the aircon seems to be broken. too hot and there is foul smell at the entrance. hoping that will be fixed soon.

plating 4.5- very simple plating but sometimes being simple was enough. i like their presentation. nothing spectacular but class.

service 3.5- average grade for serving, they provide good service, but the waiters, servers are not approachable and they lack on some communicating or entertaining.

all in all this restaurant is rated 4.5! i enjoyed the 9 spoons dining experience. must recommended for formal dinner and special gatherings.

i was here with my wife and my son on sunday afternoon (we have been in manila for 2 weeks); i found it wonderful ! awesome food (philippine food). i had the signature dish recommended by the waiter and he was absolutely right. the view from the restaurant to the golf course and the national museum is relaxing. thanks to zomato i have found this place and i will continue exploring the food options in manila!

after taking a calesa ride within intramuros to see historical sites and war ruins, we decided to kick back and relax at 9 spoons. it is actually the penthouse restaurant of bayleaf hotel that overlooks the golf course and the city of manila. the view from the top was magnificent (see pic). it gave me newfound appreciation for a city i rarely get to visit. it was sunset and the cool wind made our chillout session (haha) a pleasant one. 9spoons has a nacho bar and we decided to have an order. the serving was good for four and the toppings were generously portioned. the chips were deep fried in-house and  the beef was hearty. the cheese sauce provided creamy saltiness while the tomatoes, spices and chilies kept things interesting with timely zaps to my tastebuds. we also had some sandwiches and churros brought over from the ground floor coffee shop (ciocolatta con churros). the churros were freshly cooked and the chocolate dip was rich and dark just the way we like it. the blt sandwich was average. it was my first time inside the newly renovated manila cathedral, to walk by the famous walls and to see the  actual  war prisons, weapons and battle sites. the whole intramuros experience was a good day for us. and 9 spoons made it even better.
