finally got back down to savannah and i was on a mission to try a new place. i decided on zunzi's and i was not disappointed. i ordered several dishes to share with la familia. the conquistador, the godfather, the vegetable curry with rice & chicken, & a side of the macaroni salad. everything was good. the chicken is all white meat moist breast chopped up fresh in front of you for the sandwhiches. the line is always stretched out the door because its a small take out place, no inside tables, but it moves very quickly so do not be discouraged. the godfather and conquistador are essentially the same sandwhich: chicken, lettuce, tomato & special sauce except the godfather also has cheese and choice ofsausageadded to the sandwhich. the sauce is just right, its like a zingy peppery tangy mayo sauce. the sandwhiches are not served with sides btw, must order separately. however they are freaking huge sandwhiches. 1/3 could easily fill the average person. i almost order the boerwurst south africansausageroll when the kind employee offered me a samples of thesausageas it was my first time there. as he predicted, it is a taste that not many like in asausageand i am one of them. its grinded texture, like chorizo but its actually very sour in taste not so much savory and spicy, actually not at all. its more herby and fruity tasting and very strong. you either love it or hate it kind of thing. they also have a grilled kielbasa sausage, which is what i choose for the godfather. thesausagecheese & chicken work really well together on the sandwhich. the macaroni salad was recommend as the most popular to get and i see. coming from a guy who never orders mac salad anywhere because its normally terrible, this is good mac salad! it was great and had that once you start can't stop eating quality. its spiced just right, zesty bite like a citrus note, very refreshing. its not too creamy, in fact you wonder if there's anything on it at all until you dig in. has diced tomato, corn, mushrooms and slices of black olive(the best part) mixed in. the curry is unlike any version i've had before. for one, the curry is not thick and makes you wonder if they forgot to laddle it on. its actually very subtle. at first bite i was disappointed, byt the second bite was better. it is actually balanced just right, and not heavy and overpowering, although that is what im used to and looking for in curry dishes. i had chicken v
breast added to the dish at an upcharge since it is intended to be a veggie dish. it made the dish very satisfying and was not out of place. i look forward to going back one day. they close at 5 & 6 around dinner time not at 2/3pm end of lunch time fyi.
