the best everything!. there is not one thing on the menu that will not totally knock your socks off. this is the best place to getlunchin savannah hands down. not only is the food incredible and unique, but the service and the staff are friendly and generous! johnny is a big supporter of the local savannah music scene as well and has put on local music events in the parking lot of zinzi's. we love zunzi's very much and strongly recommend you eat there.

favorite items....

conquistador sandwich
shepard's pie
falafel pita
oliver's lunch

shit yeah! (sorry for the profanity....you'll understand when you walk in the door.)

have come to zunzi's many times since i moved to savannah, always enjoy the food! the seating is only outside, so keep the weather in mind when coming, but their south african influenced meals are flavorful, interesting and delicious. staff is always friendly and readily available to assist with anything, they even offered to help me move! i usually order either the fishermans deck or the conquistador, and have never been disappointed. they also serve a rooibos tea which is a perfect compliment to their food. serving sizes are huge and perfect to split if you're not planning on taking an afterlunchnap. definitely recommend this joint if you're in town, it's a fun and tasty experience!

came an hour afterlunchtime and didn't have any problem with lines or seating. it was raining a bit so we appreciated the outdoor seating with patio umbrellas, much better than nothing for a take-out place. i had the godfather and my gf had the veggie salad. mine was excellent, although far more food than i needed, and her's looked and smelled great. they were very generous and accommodating, asking if she wanted plenty of extras in her salad. i ended up finishing mine regardless of the size as it was pretty tasty and difficult to stop. would definitely stop by again.

what a delightful little hole in the wall! zunzi’s is a prime example of how you cannot always judge a restaurant by its exterior. i was initially skeptical as to why everyone gave the place a good review…surely there had to be some bad reviews?! the answer to that came the moment we tasted the food.

i ordered the popular zunzi’s sandwich named ‘conquistador’ and my husband got the ‘oliver’s lunch’. we also took two sweet teas as the samples tasted fantastic. there is no indoor seating but there is an outdoor seating area available to those who do not want to take the food to go. the sandwich was amazing. the chicken was marinated perfectly and the meat flaked off beautifully. i added some extra curry sauce that they gave on the side, which added an extra zing to the sandwich. but oliver’slunchwas the winner for me. the portion size was enormous and the meat was seamlessly seasoned and accompanied with the house sauces.

although it is not the ideal place for a sit-down meal, zunzi is now among my favorite eateries in savannah. looking forward to my next visit!

we stopped here forlunchlast week based on the comment of our tour trolley operator.  the food was excellent, the portions much too large for us for lunch.  i had an oliver's lunch, which is a chicken and sausage lunch.  my wife had a chicken wrap.  a great value.  the dining area is a few tables in a parking lot, but somehow it suits.  their sweet tea has a coconut/pineapple flavour that my wife absolutely loved.  we went back to get more the next day.  it is the kind of place i would go back to regularly.

i hate long lines, but..... we split a godfather at the suggestion of a local we were in line behind. i asked him what his favorite item was and he said "usually the last thing i ate here...everything is that good". the line was down the block to the corner, but the wait was more than worth it. one of, if not the best sandwich i have ever eaten. if we find ourselves in savannah again, we will eat everylunchhere so we can try more of the interesting menu items. when in savannah, don't miss this stop...all the hype is true.

finally got back down to savannah and i was on a mission to try a new place. i decided on zunzi's and i was not disappointed. i ordered several dishes to share with la familia. the conquistador, the godfather, the vegetable curry with rice & chicken, & a side of the macaroni salad. everything was good. the chicken is all white meat moist breast chopped up fresh in front of you for the sandwhiches. the line is always stretched out the door because its a small take out place, no inside tables, but it moves very quickly so do not be discouraged. the godfather and conquistador are essentially the same sandwhich: chicken, lettuce, tomato & special sauce except the godfather also has cheese and choice of sausage added to the sandwhich. the sauce is just right, its like a zingy peppery tangy mayo sauce. the sandwhiches are not served with sides btw, must order separately. however they are freaking huge sandwhiches. 1/3 could easily fill the average person. i almost order the boerwurst south african sausage roll when the kind employee offered me a samples of the sausage as it was my first time there. as he predicted, it is a taste that not many like in a sausage and i am one of them. its grinded texture, like chorizo but its actually very sour in taste not so much savory and spicy, actually not at all. its more herby and fruity tasting and very strong. you either love it or hate it kind of thing. they also have a grilled kielbasa sausage, which is what i choose for the godfather. the sausage cheese & chicken work really well together on the sandwhich. the macaroni salad was recommend as the most popular to get and i see. coming from a guy who never orders mac salad anywhere because its normally terrible, this is good mac salad! it was great and had that once you start can't stop eating quality. its spiced just right, zesty bite like a citrus note, very refreshing. its not too creamy, in fact you wonder if there's anything on it at all until you dig in. has diced tomato, corn, mushrooms and slices of black olive(the best part) mixed in. the curry is unlike any version i've had before. for one, the curry is not thick and makes you wonder if they forgot to laddle it on. its actually very subtle. at first bite i was disappointed, byt the second bite was better. it is actually balanced just right, and not heavy and overpowering, although that is what im used to and looking for in curry dishes. i had chicken v
breast added to the dish at an upcharge since it is intended to be a veggie dish. it made the dish very satisfying and was not out of place. i look forward to going back one day. they close at 5 & 6 around dinner time not at 2/3pm end oflunchtime fyi.

conquistador v. godfather. the staff was super friendly and the chicken was super juicy and moist. i tried the massive conquistador which was great but my husband and i preferred the rivaled godfather which i thought had a bigger flavor profile with the same juicy chicken and awesome sausage and a tangy red sauce.

if i went back, i would get the oliver'slunchwhich lets you just get the chicken with side items. the chicken is so great, i feel like i don't need the sandwich bread. you can always get the conquistador sauce to pour over it on the side.

after seeing zunzi's featured on adam richman's best sandwich, we were going to be in the area. we knew we wanted to try it. there was a line out the door but definitely worth the wait. we had the conquitidor and the godfather. the food was amazing. be prepared for a line, outside dining or take out. if you are in the area, this is a greatlunchspot!

don't miss this ever!!!. eating my way through savannah with my best girl, we made this a priority stop for lunch. was not disappointed. it was simple but fresh. there was a sauce on my godfather that pulled it all together. moist chicken, sweet/smokey sausage, parmesan cheese, tomato, lettuce on a fresh baked roll. topped this with a side of homemade humus and pita. there was more than enough for the two of us to share these. we also had a half sweet/ unsweetened tea that was nice too top it all off.

a converted wonderer to where all the good tastes forlunchare now! s**t yea!!!!!!

the godfather!!!. a must try forlunchin the historic district. after reading so many great reviews, i made it a mission to have the godfather sandwich at zunzis during my trip. my sister and i split one and it was fully loaded with marinated chicken, grilled smoked sausage, and threee types of sauce (red, white, and pink.) this was the best individual item of our trip hands down. i even briefly considered dropping back by on my way home from hilton head to grab another sandwich to go.

it's nothing fancy. you walk up to a counter with a tiny standing area and order your sandwich. then you go around the side of the building and sit down under an umbrella to chow down. almost all of the people eating here were local scad students or business men in dress shirts and ties. if there's no room at a table, walk to one of the nearest squares and enjoy your meal there.

good and affordable. highly recommend. food was very good and affordable. i liked the oliver'slunchover rice and spinach side. meatloaf was tasty as well. african ice tea was not too sweet and had a peach and rooibos flavor. there was a line forming outside and just getting bigger at 3 pm in the afternoon. worth the wait.
