a lukewarm "like". i will certainly go back to this place, but only for the sidewalk seating, for to sit indoors there would be unthinkable. (without earplugs, that is.) the food is ordinary, except for the excellent fries. there is a wide selection of beers.

the outdoor seating along young avenue is agreatvenue for people-watching and beer-drinking--if (as you might have figured by reading the other reviews) you can ever manage to get someone to wait on you.

i went to young avenue deli about two weeks ago, took a table outside with my friend, and sat there for more than fifteen minutes as we were passed over by waiters without ever being handed a menu or even being greeted. we left.

i'm sure i'll find myself there again, but my expectations for five-star service there are very low.

last night was my last night in memphis. have had many people tell me to try the deli, because it was great. we tried getting take out, but when we called a lady answered the phone "domino's pizza". i responded asking "is this the deli?" she responded yes, i said i wanted to place a to go order. she then responded... if you want a take out order your going to have to come get it then hung up on me. so then i husband attempted to call back...once again answered the phone domino's pizza. and then she repeatedly kept asking him why he was calling...even after he asked, as i did, is this the deli. then he was hung up on as well. not only was it rude but it was completely bad business. we were disappointed and not only that angry. no one should run a business like this or more so have someone like that working for them. after we got treated the way we did we will not be going back and will let everyone know that we can. it's to bad because we have nothing but good stuff about the food. just wish there employees were asgreatas it. bad business.

young avenue deli is agreatspot down in cooper young to eat. they have very healthy options and it's in cooper young...what's not to like about this cool midtown area. if you are an appetizer person try the pimento cheese fries. they are really good. this was our first time here but i am already planning for another time to make it over here!

food is consistently average. service is consistently bad. if your going to hang out with the crowd then it is agreatplace. but if you want an above average deli then go elsewhere. there are better options a quarter mile north.

formerly a memphis gem. if you haven't been yet, you've sadly missed your chance.. it has been well known across town that the service is slow at young ave, but it is a fact i've long overlooked due to the kind waitstaff, greatfood, and fun environment. those days have seemingly come to an abrupt end as new, younger waitstaff have begun to zap all of the charm from this cooper-young hangout. it is certainly a case of a few rotten apples spoiling the entire bunch because i have nothing but kind things to say about most all of the employees. however, it had gotten to the point where my patronage depended on who was working. it has reached my breaking point and i will sadly no longer be returning.

that being said, if you like being talked down to by waitresses with a chip on their shoulder, waiting an hour for your food, and malfunctioning pool tables, please try young avenue deli. if you're lucky, you get what you pay for.

great food. everyone who's been to young avenue knows that this isn't a place you go to for five star service. it's good food and a really awesome atmosphere in a reallygreatpart of town. i went on a monday night and actually got really decent service and was pleasantly surprised. i love the sonoma sandwich and the plethora of veg options makes this vegetarian very happy! i always get the fries no matter what i get for my sandwich, they're delicious. i love their cups and our sweet waitress monday actually brought us to-go sweet teas instead of refilling the ones we already had, so i ended up with two cups from one trip. as a college student, i make good use out of plastic restaurant cups. overall, if you go to young avenue deli not expecting stellar service but expecting reallygreatfood, then you'll enjoy it!

vegetarian friendly 'dive' bar grub ... what more could a girl want!. i am a huge fan of young avenue. i have no excuse as to why it is just now i am writing a review for them.

there is really nothing not to love about this slightly more upscale dive bar. they have laughing skull on tap, yummy onion rings, greatsweet potato fries, lots of make-your-own vegetarian options, greatbartenders, pretty tasty vegetarian chili, and one of the best pimiento and cheese sandwiches i've ever had.

i've attended some pretty cool events hosted at young ave.

i almost live close enough for delivery ... but not quite close enough ... much to my chagrin.

it's a chill spot to down a few with friends and have a decent bite or two.

maybe ill see ya around next time. i definitely recommend.

over all, the food wasn’t spectacular. if a friend wanted to meet there for a meal, i’d still go. it wasn’t terrible. i just think memphis has many better things to offer. we did love the midtown vibe. we ate on the patio and a guy we knew happened to be jogging by so he stopped and chatted with us for a bit. we enjoyed watching the hipster scene and seeing all the college students milling about. there was a bar crawl happening while we were there, but it didn’t affect our service. i’ve heard lots of complaints about the service at young ave, but we actually hadgreatservice so that’s a big bonus. :)

great food, mediocre service. my first experience at young avenue deli comes with mixed reviews. the food was awesome...the service: not so much.

i ordered the bren, a delicious combination of turkey, cream cheese, mushrooms, and onions all rolled into a warm pita. yummy. my husband ordered the special that day, a, a1 cheesburger pita, which was tangy and equally as good.

but after waiting at our table for 10 minutes before a waiter even noticed us, i was a little annoyed. then we had to move inside due to rain, and apparently pissed off a different waitress who thought she had new customers to wait on. little advice: loudly whispering explicit complaints about your customers will not get you agreattip...
