this restaurant opened about a year ago right in the middle of a quaint building in durbanville.. it also happens to be a heritage site. they have outdoor seating, with a very cosy indoor area, with old school wooden floors, thick walls and high ceilings. the owners are very focused on detail. on a fresh winters morning you will be given knee blankets, just to keep the cold away. inside there is also a small fireplace.
in my opinion, they arguably have the friendliest service of any coffee shop in the area. for the americano lovers out there.. be sure to always get a solid layer of crema with each cup served. one of the most consistent coffee shops i have been to in a long time. they have a highly trained and friendly barista who i can see, takes pride in his work.
they offer a small, but effective food menu. everything made from scratch and pasta will be hand made on the premises. the chef is highly skilled and his food are always outstanding. he has astonishing plating skills and an eye for detail. every time they put a plate in front of you, one cant help to take a picture of it. simply amazing. order something basic like a cheese and tomato toastie, and you will get blown away by a work of art and a taste explosion. they also serve basic breakfasts and wraps, with a goodlunchmenu as well as a black board which changes often. this very same black board always have some sort of special running as well.. combos with cake and coffee, or a toasted sandwich with a juice. perfect for a quicklunchwhile using their free wifi. on wednesdays they have pensioners specials and yoco eatery also caters for kitchen teas, birthdays and other events. they handle large groups with ease, which to me is a clear sign of an organized kitchen and a chef who can handle pressure.
yoco eatery also obtained their liquor license recently and offers a range of craft beers, top wines from the surrounding wine farms and much more. be sure to try them out, you will be surprised.. the sell small food related gifts like relishes, dips, sauces and cookies.
i have given them a rating of 4.5.. the only improvement i can suggest for now, is their visibility from the street in terms of signage, flags etc. if you drive past the area you will not see them at all .. i am under the impression that it might be due to the rules of the landlords or the heritage site rules. they deserve a chance to advertise and display their name like any other business in the area. cheers herman

needed a bit of time with my teenager daughter to have a chat and took the opportunity to havelunchat yoco. as soon as we were greeted by stas, i knew we were in for a treat. in my experience whenever a restaurant is owner managed everything is that little bit better because he cares about his business and therefore his customers. yoco was no exception and i watched stas make every effort to chat to all his patrons. he made recommendations and showed a genuine interest in what we had to say. the coffee was good and the food excellent. my daughter is very, very fussy and usually a nightmare at restaurants but stas and his daughter modified the burger ingredients to satisfy her. it is a treat for all of us living in durbanville to have such a restauranteer as stas in our town. top quality ingredients and a relaxed atmosphere make this a perfect venue for any breakfast orlunchoccasion. i just wish he was open on sunday's and in the evenings.

as you know by now i love quaint restaurants often tucked away from the maddening crowd, so it was a great adventure when i had to find this little gem in durbanville.

this little eatery although located in the heart of durbanville is tucked away in a quaint garden oasis known as the rust-en-vrede gardens. i have actually been here once before for a lovely little market that happens every so often but completely forgot the name of the gardens.

due to my memory lapse when looking for the restaurant i managed to drive straight past it not once but twice, the garden obscures the venue and honestly ... if you don't know about it ... you may never find it!

the restaurant itself is nestled in an old cape dutch building which houses an art gallery, so you can happily browse before and after your meal, it also features the most unusual sculptures perched in the trees and foliage all around the courtyard ... truly intriguing.

on this particular day, we were saying a farewell to my sister as she set off overseas, we were actually havinglunchen route to the airport hence the urgency to find the restaurant.

we decided to indulge in burgers on this particular day with a cappuccino to start .. strange but true!

mumsy and i decided on the don't go bacon my heart burgers (because well ... bacon ... enough said right!). my sister and my nephew opted for the chicken burgers.

the servings were generous, the food was delicious and fresh. it was one of the nicest burgers and shoestring fries i have had in a very long time.

the service although a little slow was spot on and again i have to say all in all i had a really pleasant dining experience at yoco eatery and i would definitely recommend it. i would, however, recommend you book in advance in summer as the venue was busy.

for more info, you can find them here: yoco eatery

i was recently invited to join zamato as one of the top 25 users in the province for a meetup. we met forlunchat this hidden little gem in durbanville.

on arrival i was welcomed by very polite staff and escorted to our table where i met an amazing group of foodies.

we were served with a refreshing caprese salad as a starter followed by 3 different sandwiches for mains. hmmmm yummy, the first being chicken which was great scoring a solid 6/10 , next up came the meatball (my favourite) scoring a delicious 9/10 and the last one was a salami and cheese which was like eating a tasty pizza sandwich and scored a great 8/10.

then was time for dessert... well i don't even know where to start when describing this... let's just say that i will let the pictures speak for themselves and give it an flawless 10/10 rating! omw!!

definitely worth the trip, next time i will try the burgers! if the beef patties are half as good as the meatballs, it will be worth it!

enjoy!!

yoco eatery eatery hosted a bunch of us for a delightful zomato meetup. hidden in the heart of durbanville, the restaurant is warm and welcoming with friendly staff. we were served protea wines and juice box which everyone enjoyed.

to start we had a caprese salad. the presentation of the salad was modern and chic, but most memorable was the pesto served with it! for mains we were treated to three gourmet sandwhices (three vegetarian ones for me). the standout was definitely the jalapeño and cheese sandwich, which was spicy deliciousness. the other two were a salad sandwich and cheese and tomato - fairly average. from the non veg sandwiches the meatball sandwich was a favourite on the table.

for me the highlight was dessert. chef jaco put together a dessert which tasted like a slice of heaven. it was a milk stout chocolate cake served with buttermilk jelly, coffee crumble, white rum pearls and yuzu gel. i'm not sure if this dish features on their menu but it truly shows the high standard of the desserts you should expect to enjoy here. the flavours complimented each other and every element added value to the dish.

overall, a greatlunchexperience at yoco eatery. i would definitely recommend eating at this hidden gem, where you will find amazing food and friendly staff.

i had the bestlunchhere and one of the most fun zomato meetups. along with a few of the top 25 foodies in cape town we were treated to a divine three course meal here. our drinks consisted of champagne, protea wines and a selection of juice box. first on the menu was their stunning caprese salad. it was light and fresh.
our main meal consisted three different gourmet sandwiches. a chicken and plum, salami and cheese and then a meatball sandwich...scrumptious!!
dessert was a chefs surprise which was a milk stout chocolate cake with buttermilk jelly, white rum pearls, coffee crumble and yuzu gel. it was so delicious and pure perfection.

i now know why yoco eatery is a top rated café in cape town and i will most be coming back here. thank you yoco and thank you zomato for the most stunning afternoon!

it took a while for this little joint to gain momentum again after the old rust en vrede café closed. i'm very pleased to see that it is thriving like it used to--the new ownership seems to be doing wonders. in fact, i'd say it's probably doing even better now. the menu has been revamped, and the meals are fresh and well presented. the menu items are ideal for a quicklunchor teatime snack. of course, the adjoining art gallery is also still running, and remains a unique feature that adds to yoco's charm. best of all, they manage to retain a quiet and tranquil atmosphere, so it is always a pleasure to visit .

tucked away in the center of durbanville, yoco truly is a hidden gem! unless you know of the restaurant or happen to stumble upon it, it's almost impossible to find. but with great food, a lovely setting and friendly staff, it's definitely worth a visit!

having heard that burgers are their speciality, i could not resist ordering one of these mouthwatering delights. i love the puny names on their menu - "don't go bacon my heart" and "the thyme to france" are really creative and add a fun, relaxed vibe to the whole yoco experience. we had the cajun chicken burger, which came with shoestring fries. the chicken was perfectly cooked and not overly spicy. i loved all the fillings - feta, pepperdew and pineapple is simply a winning combination in my opinion! the fries were also an interesting experience - bite sized and crispy, definitely something different and surprisingly quite tasty!

overall, an ideal spot for a quick lunch. it's tasty comfort food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. plus it's a beautiful setting with the gardens in the background - perfect forlunchunder the trees on a hot summers day. and the staff are really friendly, taking very good care of us and bringing our food out in record time.

i'd love to try some of their other burgers too! perhaps it would be nice if they offered a selection of small sliders (2 or 3 mini burgers) so that you could get to taste them all? i also think their vegetarian options are a bit limited, compared to other similar restaurants.

if you haven't been, i highly recommend giving yoco a go!
