this restaurant opened about a year ago right in the middle of a quaint building in durbanville.. it also happens to be a heritage site. they have outdoor seating, with a very cosy indoor area, with old school wooden floors, thick walls and high ceilings. the owners are very focused on detail. on a fresh winters morning you will be given knee blankets, just to keep the cold away. inside there is also a small fireplace.
in my opinion, they arguably have the friendliest service of any coffee shop in the area. for the americano lovers out there.. be sure to always get a solid layer of crema with each cup served. one of the most consistent coffee shops i have been to in a long time. they have a highly trained and friendly barista who i can see, takes pride in his work.
they offer a small, but effective food menu. everything made from scratch and pasta will be hand made on the premises. the chef is highly skilled and his food are always outstanding. he has astonishing plating skills and an eye for detail. every time they put a plate in front of you, one cant help to take a picture of it. simply amazing. order something basic like a cheese and tomato toastie, and you will get blown away by a work of art and a taste explosion. they also serve basic breakfasts and wraps, with agoodlunch menu as well as a black board which changes often. this very same black board always have some sort of special running as well.. combos with cake and coffee, or a toasted sandwich with a juice. perfect for a quick lunch while using their free wifi. on wednesdays they have pensioners specials and yoco eatery also caters for kitchen teas, birthdays and other events. they handle large groups with ease, which to me is a clear sign of an organized kitchen and a chef who can handle pressure.
yoco eatery also obtained their liquor license recently and offers a range of craft beers, top wines from the surrounding wine farms and much more. be sure to try them out, you will be surprised.. the sell small food related gifts like relishes, dips, sauces and cookies.
i have given them a rating of 4.5.. the only improvement i can suggest for now, is their visibility from the street in terms of signage, flags etc. if you drive past the area you will not see them at all .. i am under the impression that it might be due to the rules of the landlords or the heritage site rules. they deserve a chance to advertise and display their name like any other business in the area. cheers herman

a hidden treasure in the heart of durbanville, yoco hits the spot on every level. the food is outstanding. everything is deliciously tasty and fresh. the service is alwaysgoodand the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food that is served. and the coffee is the best i've ever had! well worth a visit for breakfast or lunch. a tip - if you are coming for breakfast, have the poached eggs and salmon with the citrus sauce. quite honestly the most delicious breakfast you will ever have.

sitting on the stoep, i had a lovely catch up breakie with my friends here. the manager/owner came to our table and recommended the shakshuka - morrocan curried eggs. fried with peppers, onion and tomatoes it was a nice change from the usual and was not spicy as expected, but flavourful and tasty. one of my friends had the croque madame and commented that it was a tad bland. if you're looking for a more quiet spot with agoodcoffee and friendly staff then i would suggest yoco and after your meal take a stroll around the garden or gallery.

needed a bit of time with my teenager daughter to have a chat and took the opportunity to have lunch at yoco. as soon as we were greeted by stas, i knew we were in for a treat. in my experience whenever a restaurant is owner managed everything is that little bit better because he cares about his business and therefore his customers. yoco was no exception and i watched stas make every effort to chat to all his patrons. he made recommendations and showed a genuine interest in what we had to say. the coffee wasgoodand the food excellent. my daughter is very, very fussy and usually a nightmare at restaurants but stas and his daughter modified the burger ingredients to satisfy her. it is a treat for all of us living in durbanville to have such a restauranteer as stas in our town. top quality ingredients and a relaxed atmosphere make this a perfect venue for any breakfast or lunch occasion. i just wish he was open on sunday's and in the evenings.

finally made it to the hidden gem. i mean literally it is truly hidden inside a beautiful garden. the maps again kind of messed up when we tried to reach this place. it took us to the spurs back entrance and from there it is just a minute's walk.
ambience - a big five for this peaceful coffee place. and wow they have some great taste in music. some smooth jazz on the background.
coffee - i took an americano while my fellow foodies settled for cappuccinos. the coffee was served fast. since i take a strong filter coffee every time i took little of milk into the americano and sipped it off slowly. amazing! my fellow foodies loved it too.
breakfast - the guys don't take beef or pork. while i was guided by the owner in picking shakshuka a moroccan spicy dish with half boiled omelettes, tomatoes and capsicums with onions. one of the guys hesitated for a while and took the same dish while the other guy again was guided by the owner in trying some smoked salmon.
the chefs took their time, nearly 25 minutes to serve the dishes. i liked the shakshuka instantly as it was mildly spicy with nice flavours of turmeric and chillies. the salmon was just like sushi and my friend liked it very much. too bad we didn't have time to try any other dish. we need to bring some more of our friends very soon.
lovely hospitality and a peaceful place with hot food andgoodcoffee!

i've been wanting to try yoco eatery ever since missing the zomato meetup there. i finally got to have brunch there and was not disappointed. the setting is quaint and romantic, the service isgoodand - most importantly - the coffee is strong. still, nothing above average until the food arrived. the croque madame was excellent! the portions are not very big, but fairly priced. overall a solid spot, the best breakfast spot that i've been to in the northern suburbs thus far.

i was recently invited to join zamato as one of the top 25 users in the province for a meetup. we met for lunch at this hidden little gem in durbanville.

on arrival i was welcomed by very polite staff and escorted to our table where i met an amazing group of foodies.

we were served with a refreshing caprese salad as a starter followed by 3 different sandwiches for mains. hmmmm yummy, the first being chicken which was great scoring a solid 6/10 , next up came the meatball (my favourite) scoring a delicious 9/10 and the last one was a salami and cheese which was like eating a tasty pizza sandwich and scored a great 8/10.

then was time for dessert... well i don't even know where to start when describing this... let's just say that i will let the pictures speak for themselves and give it an flawless 10/10 rating! omw!!

definitely worth the trip, next time i will try the burgers! if the beef patties are half asgoodas the meatballs, it will be worth it!

enjoy!!

yoco for the win! we were treated to a delicious gourmet sandwich feast. i also got to meet some cool new people which is always a win. i have heard manygoodthings about this place, so i am very stoked i got to finally go. already planning my next visit because i hear their burgers are one of the best in cape town. to start we had a caprese salad, uniquely presented, followed by some delicious sandwiches and a gastronomic style dessert. washed it all down with juice box juice and a glass of red wine or 3 ;). it's a really interesting, comfortable restaurant which is situated in the middle of a gallery. go and try the new hearty menu, it's a winner...
