this resto is within our neighborhood and had frequently patronised it when it opened a few years ago. back then, the friendly owners were very hands on. i recall the owner’s son had been the resident chef at the time.
over the years however, the food quality and service had steadily deteriorated. on more than one occasion, waiting time was unbearably long (20 minutes for hot tea and a slice of cake), and some food items were outright fails (overly sour daing na bangus). but i was too lazy to give feedback and just stopped dining there, save for the occasional ( purple oven) cake craving ordered to-go.
due to the worsening town traffic though, we found ourselves at the resto again this weekend. hey, everyone deserves another chance right? so we had coffee and cake on friday night, and an early dinner tonight. the coffee was great, but sadly the service was again wanting. i had to follow up for the creamer, while my husband’s coffee wasn’t served with sugar. tonight, everything took awhile: menu, order taking, food serving and finally asking for the bill. at one point, there were 4 or 5 of them at the counter, all of them with their heads bowed seemingly busy with something. busy with everything except checking if their customers needed anything, that is. given the cozy size of this cafe, that shouldn’t be difficult. yet i had to march up to the counter to ask for the billing. the food was just okay; the beef bulgogi rice could have used some bean sprouts and a tad less soy sauce. but the service totally sucked. if the owners are reading this, please do something about it. you used to have good servers.
