wow chicken

the food here is always good, like a healthier/ less greasy kfc. the problem withwowis that the customer service is often poor and the servers are typically rude.

triedwowchicken last night. ordered a simple whole classic fried chicken, and i wasn't disappointed. crispy, good sized pieces, unfortunately a little under-seasoned. i considered sprinkling kosher salt on before eating another piece. the breading held up excellently during the 30' ride home, where almost the entire (with the exception of my wing and drummy) chicken was gorged on by my father's wife in 2 hours without my knowledge. i'm still hot under the collar about that lol. a touch pricy at $25/bird. 4/5

service wasn't great, and there is no signage posted or at the takeout window stating prices, which is annoying. 2/5

we lovewowchicken. it's probably the best fried chicken in the city. their chicken stays juicy and crispy for hours!!!! we've tried a few different flavours so far but the og is the best!!!

after a day of work and then an evening of volunteering, i was in need of a beer and fried delights. i called l on my way home and suggested we go meet for a late dinner. he suggested i get off at the kensington lrt station and meet him at his favourite chicken joint –wowchicken.

we were still hungry after our breakfast of pastries so we were on the hunt for something more substantial. i spottedwowchicken and their sign advertising kfc lunch specials sounded perfect. we walked in and ordered a box to go. interesting that they have a takeout window (no one was manning it). interior is modern and they actually have cute, comfy seating.

after a long day of moving, we visited the takeout window atwowchicken located on 10th st in kensington. perfect for picnics/last minute group takeout, you can order by the half or whole chicken, with a range of sauces to choose from. this is not your traditional kfc (kentucky fried chicken) but korean fried chicken – known for it’s signature big and crunchy batter. needless to say it was a crowd pleaser.

worst customer service ever.

i had ordered for pick up half original and half sweet sauce chicken and pickled radish on dec 09 2016 around 9pm. i came back home and found a piece of original chicken undercooked as seen in the pictures and the pickled radish gone bad. however, it was already passed their closing time and it happened only one time out of many of experiences in wow, so i didn't care much.

i ordered today, on jan 11, 2016 around 8:30pm, the same food by phone and mentioned to the server about my experience for them to be more cautious when cooking. the sever said just 'ok' with no single word of apology.

i went to pick up food and she was busy on the phone. there was another server but the lady with the phone served us kept talking on the phone. moreover, she was too busy on the phone, so she recalled the price very impolitely in korean, '26, 26달러' (yes i am korean).

furthermore, she didnt give me the food because she's now too busy talking on the phone and talking to the another server. i had to wait as i didnt want to be rude just piking up my food on the counter.

i felt like i was being ignored the whole time while i was in the restaurant. i have never experienced this kind of service before. i don't know if i can call this 'service'.

i just lost my appetite and definitely will never ever go back to wow.

good chicken...but not worth dealing with the lack of training in their servers. this used to be a favourite kfc (korean fried chicken) place of ours, but now that there are so many other options in calgary,wowchicken will have to work harder to attract and keep their customers. running out of chicken and turning away customers an hour before closing is unacceptable. it made me wonder if they just closed the kitchen early and couldn't be bothered to start it up again for us. not good either way.

triedwowat kensington for the first time for a take-out. the chicken was well made/fried and finger-licking good. thought the soy garlic sauce went well with the chicken, although the spicy sauce wasn't bad either. definitely different from kfc (i like kfc too) and worth checking out.

my friend and i went towowat 2:00 on 8/30. food was ok. but server was soooooo rude!!!! really unfriendly! when i ordered the food, his attitude was so rude and looks like that he did not want to answer our questions. he went outside to smoke very often. and there's no other servers that we could not get the bill. ( i saw that other customers looked for server as well) finally, he came back and gave us the bill, but he asked us" how much tips you wanna give me?"............ i couldn't believe that he asked us like that!! why he thought that he deserved to get tips? it seems he did not get enough training. i will not go back.

i love fried chicken.wowchicken was good but not great missing the mark for me. the breading was crispy and excellent fried but, (and this could be my own fault) it was very plain. we decided to have the classic which had almost no seasoning in the breading. we tried some of the sweet sauce to dip our chicken in and it was way better but still had something missing. the restaurant was clean and spacious for eating in and the staff were friendly. i would feel comfortable bringing my toddler in to eat as well!

it is best chicken restaurant in my life ever!!!!!! if you like korean food or international food just go there and try!!!  look at the name..... it iswow... that is true. i cant believe it is in calgary... so good amazing awesome restaurant! !

this place only serves chicken! so don't expect anything out of that kitchen. if you are a chicken lover then this is the place for you. the chicken is good here. well if the chicken wasn't then it wouldn't be calledwowchicken. the servers are helpful, great and friendly. the decor looks very modern and spacious.

after passing the take out window time after time, we finally made our way towowchicken for w week!  the kfc (korean fried chicken) scene has taken over calgary in the past few years with new stores opening in every quadrant of the city.  we don't usually indulge in deep fried goodness, so we were both ecstatic.

i gotta say korean fried chicken is wayy better than kentucky fried chicken lol
i have tried yum yum chicken and wow. i recently went towowchicken and the place is alot different than yum yum. i went the yum yum in airdrie which is more simple and fast food style.wowchicken was very modern inside with tv playing korean music. both times we had to wait for a spot but it wasn't long.
we ordered 3 different flavours of chicken and tried the wing, breast and thigh.
really tasty. i enjoyed the chicken alot, but got full pretty fast.
will come back here when i crave fried chicken.
