woodchuck's cafe

can't rate thefoodbecause we were forced to leave by the whackass service.  came in, moderately busy but not a line.  sign says "wait to be seated", a waitress yells "sit wherever you want".  sat at the counter near the register.  3 waitresses walked past us, served coffee to tables, rang up checks and ignored us for over 15 minutes.  finally someone told someone else to serve us coffee, which was just shy of 2/3 cup.  then they ignored us some more.  we asked for the check and 'to go' coffees and the girl put 2 stacked styrofoam cups in front of us of the bar.  incredulous, my wife explained how to serve customers then they said not to pay and we left coffee on the bar.  tally is in desperate need of a breakfast place!  my kingdom for breakfast!  it ain't here.

woodchuck's cafe is generally a great place to go for lunch or breakfast. it is fine for dinner if all you want is a sandwich or burger, but i tend to prefer something a bit more substantial and "dinner-like" for dinner.

service is usually pretty good and thefoodis usually great. the only reason i'm not giving them 5 stars is that consistency can be a big of a problem. for instance, if you order ham on a regular basis, you never know what you will get - thick sliced, shaved, bits and pieces - who knows? and if you're into presentation at all, forget it. grits dripping down the side of the bowl and home fries hanging  over the side of the plate are the norm. does it affect the taste? not at all, but just be advised - neatness in presentation is not their thing.

one thing they do get an "a" for is the their bathroom - at least the men's. it is always clean and well maintained. i mention this because small, locally owned restaurants often have less than acceptable bathrooms.

while i have my nits to pick, i still recommend woodchuck's as one of the best restaurants of its kind in tally.

it was late but the place was so dirty, booth so dilapidated, sitting brought you down 2 inches.foodwas ok, cold but coffee was good. had white toast so cold and dry, i asked if i could get warm ones and the server said sure, she put them in the microwave 3 seconds. wow!
couldn't touch the table or your fingers stuck there. i don't understand the rating but if you enjoyed it, good for you.

this place is amazing. my boyfriend and i decided to go somewhere different and this place really surprised us. it seems like a hole in the wall but once you're inside it's so cute! they even have an outside seating area. thefoodwas fantastic and the menu has options for all taste buds. best part is that it's super affordable.

if you are looking to get some yummyfoodin a sit down restaurant without spending a lot, this is the place. so much bang for your buck. my only complaints is there's never enough parking and the ac didn't seem to be working very well both times i've been there so it was a little uncomfortable.

the quintessential hole-in-the-wall. woodchuck's cafe is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall. nothing fancy will be found here. what will be found is great food. once a week we travel to woodchuck's to get a great breakfast. once in a while we show up for lunch as well. whether you come for breakfast or lunch, you won't be disappointed. my favorite breakfast is the biscuits and gravy - two big fluffy biscuits with a generous portion of gravy along with two eggs and a side of meat. yummy stuff. i'm still working my way through all the burgers and haven't found a bad one yet, but the best is the stuffed woodchuck with blue cheese. you'll need a couple napkins, but don't worry, they've got you covered with big thick napkins, not the little tissue-thin single-ply rectangles you get at most other places.if you like potato salad, you'll love woodchuck's potato salad and they aren't skimpy with the portion. the fries are good also, but i generally order the potato salad.

service is always top notch and is another reason why we love woodchuck's. greatfoodand great service. what more could you ask for?

problems with a simple order.foodis great, but apparently they can't get orders correct. i ordered a chicken sandwich and i received a burger #moo #eatmorchikin

amazing food.. i've been searching for a snack place with amazingfoodfor a fair price in tallahassee and i've found it. hands down best burger and fries in town.

yum! why didn't i know about this place earlier?! it's easy to pass unless you happen to need gas at that exact moment (because it's connected to a gas station), buuuut thefoodand service is amazing. i had the cheddar stuffed woodchuck burger with fried okra instead of fries since fried okra is the best thing in the world. my mom had the breakfast special, chicken on a biscuit with honey butter and home fries. everything was homemade and fresh and delicious. i totally recommend this place and i will be back!

when we arrived, thefoodeveryone else had looked good. when ourfoodcame our pancakes were undercooked. my girlfriend never got the bacon that was supposed to come with her plate. our server comped a coffee to make up for the bacon oversight. may give it another chance.

breakfast. i can't speak to the burgers, as that's what most are raving about here.

the omelet i received was just okay. it's nothing fantastic that i would come back for again. have i had better omelets in my life for about the same price? yes. the only noteworthy standout about my meal was the home fries which are sliced very thin and crisp with a smoky garlic flavor. other than the home fries, everything else was just okay.

i would describe thefoodhere, based off breakfast alone, as the "jenny's lunchbox" of west tallahassee. so if you like jenny's lunchbox, you'll probably like this place too. it wasn't for me though.

what can i say, this place is great! nice people, excellentfoodand good prices. i had the rueben and it was wonderful. i'll be back!

i am so glad that we found this wonderful cafe. thefoodis delicious and they serve you huge portions. i had the cartelized apple & pecan french toast and they were awesome! we took home a few helpings of their homemade peach cobbler for later. it was also very good.
the cafe itself is not fancy but it is comfortable, reasonably priced, and everyone of the staff are as friendly as they can be.
