can't rate the food because we were forced to leave by the whackass service.  came in, moderately busy but not a line.  sign says "wait to be seated", a waitress yells "sit wherever you want".  sat at the counter near the register.  3 waitresses walked past us, served coffee to tables, rang up checks and ignored us for over 15 minutes.  finally someone told someone else to serve us coffee, which was just shy of 2/3 cup.  then they ignored us some more.  we asked for the check and 'to go' coffees and the girl put 2 stacked styrofoam cups in front of us of the bar.  incredulous, my wife explained how to serve customers then they said not to pay and we left coffee on the bar.  tally is in desperate need of a breakfast place!  my kingdom for breakfast!  it ain't here.

woodchuck's cafe is generally a great place to go for lunch or breakfast. it is fine for dinner if all you want is a sandwich or burger, but i tend to prefer something a bit more substantial and "dinner-like" for dinner.

service is usually pretty good and the food is usually great. the only reason i'm not giving them 5 stars is that consistency can be a big of a problem. for instance, if you order ham on a regular basis, you never know what you will get - thick sliced, shaved, bits and pieces - who knows? and if you're into presentation at all, forget it. grits dripping down the side of the bowl and home fries hanging  over the side of the plate are the norm. does it affect the taste? not at all, but just be advised - neatness in presentation is not their thing.

one thing they do get an "a" for is the their bathroom - at least the men's. it is always clean and well maintained. i mention this because small, locally owned restaurants often have less than acceptable bathrooms.

while i have my nits to pick, i still recommend woodchuck's as one of the best restaurants of its kind in tally.

it was late but the place was so dirty, booth so dilapidated, sitting brought you down 2 inches. food was ok, cold but coffee was good. had white toast so cold and dry, i asked if i could get warm ones and the server said sure, she put them in the microwave 3 seconds. wow!
couldn't touch the table or your fingers stuck there. i don't understand the rating but if you enjoyed it, good for you.

the burgers here are good and they also offer breakfast. i would have given them a 4, except they only cook their burgers well done, and i prefer them medium rare. still worth eating !

it seems like a hole in the wall, but it is actually very tasty. very filling and satisfying meals that will want you to come back and try something new on the menu 👌🏾

this place is amazing. my boyfriend and i decided to go somewhere different and this place really surprised us. it seems like a hole in the wall but once you're inside it's so cute! they even have an outside seating area. the food was fantastic and the menu has options for all taste buds. best part is that it's super affordable.

pretty good but could be a bit better. i prefer local hole-in-the-wall restaurants so on a trip to tallahassee this weekend i tried out woodchuck's café based on its urbanspoon ratings. my wife had a western omelet that she loved - lots of filling. my sweet potato pancakes were wonderful - flavorful, fluffy, and huge! unfortunately the country ham was only average. my son had the biscuits and gravy. the biscuits were beautiful and fluffy and the gravy was tasty. his only complaint was that he needed more gravy for the size of the biscuits. my only real complaints - they serve margarine instead of butter and coffeemate creamer for coffee instead of half-n-half or cream. these may sound nitpicky - but i feel a wonderful pancake is ruined by margarine and i have no place in my life for artificial creamer.

if you are looking to get some yummy food in a sit down restaurant without spending a lot, this is the place. so much bang for your buck. my only complaints is there's never enough parking and the ac didn't seem to be working very well both times i've been there so it was a little uncomfortable.

the quintessential hole-in-the-wall. woodchuck's cafe is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall. nothing fancy will be found here. what will be found is great food. once a week we travel to woodchuck's to get a great breakfast. once in a while we show up for lunch as well. whether you come for breakfast or lunch, you won't be disappointed. my favorite breakfast is the biscuits and gravy - two big fluffy biscuits with a generous portion of gravy along with two eggs and a side of meat. yummy stuff. i'm still working my way through all the burgers and haven't found a bad one yet, but the best is the stuffed woodchuck with blue cheese. you'll need a couple napkins, but don't worry, they've got you covered with big thick napkins, not the little tissue-thin single-ply rectangles you get at most other places.if you like potato salad, you'll love woodchuck's potato salad and they aren't skimpy with the portion. the fries are good also, but i generally order the potato salad.

service is always top notch and is another reason why we love woodchuck's. great food and great service. what more could you ask for?

i'm about to explode with all this pork goodness inside me.. wait. am i in the right place? this is a gas station, right? well, yes i am. unassuming hole in the wall places are usually my favorite, and woodchuck's certainly did not disappoint. after checking a few yelp reviews, we decided to give this a try.
we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff, and sat at the bar. i was wanting breakfast, but a sandwich called the three little pigs caught my eye. bacon, freshly sliced virginia ham and pulled pork on a potato bun. it was as amazing as it sounds. everything was cooked perfectly. i handed it off to my girlfriend for a bite, and i thought she was going to stab me in the throat with a butter knife when i asked for it back.
we decided on the potato salad, which was delicious with nice pops of garlic. we also added fried okra and corn nuggets, well, because we're destined for fatness. they were fried perfectly golden brown, and tasted like rainbows and dreams.
my girlfriend had the club, which honestly, was pretty boring. could've used more meat, a middle piece of toast, and perhaps something to set it apart from the myriad of other options in tallahassee.
so, in summary, this place is a small, low key dinner that serves up some seriously great food, and i'm looking forward to returning. a homemade cupcake might be in my future, as long as i don't stuff myself with half a pig next time.

yum! why didn't i know about this place earlier?! it's easy to pass unless you happen to need gas at that exact moment (because it's connected to a gas station), buuuut the food and service is amazing. i had the cheddar stuffed woodchuck burger with fried okra instead of fries since fried okra is the best thing in the world. my mom had the breakfast special, chicken on a biscuit with honey butter and home fries. everything was homemade and fresh and delicious. i totally recommend this place and i will be back!
