winewood grill

we have been to winewood about 6 times, all for brunch. the brunch is incredible. the food is inspired and elevated, the drinks are well-made and not overpriced.

the times we've been theservicehas been hit or miss, most of the time it's been good and attentive, but there's been a couple times that waiting forservicehas been 3/5 stars. still better than many other places.

there is rarely any wait at brunch and we always recommend this as a meeting spot for friends and family. we will continue to make this a go to restaurant for brunch. we also really need to try it for dinner, it almost feels like we typecast it.

we came here when this place first opened 4years ago and we hadn't been back since because we were so disappointed but we believe in second chances and we were not disappointed in the least! the food was amazing, the menu has gone through a serious change. theservicewas amazing also. the portions are generous for the price and the quality was outstanding! we will be back.

unlike the last guy i have nothing but good things to say about this fine little establishment.

winewood has become 'my' place since moving to grapevine 6 months ago. in that time i have come to be a regular at winewood and that is rooted *solely* in the quality of the experience.
the staff is phenomenal - and i mean like, actually phenomenal. john leads a very competent and capable wait staff and himself has become a big draw to coming back. he consistently remembers our preferences and suggests wines and specials that we actually really like. he has an attention to detail that can get lost in theserviceindustry - so much so that i am now comfortable letting him select wines for my wife and i... he just knows what we like.
carlos the manager is also awesome. i only know carlos as the manager because he made it a point to introduce himself and continues to recognize both my wife and i by name since our first visit.

finally... the food.
tonight i had sea bass and scallops and would bet you dollars to donuts it was better than what you ate.
i know it was.
because it was f**king awesome.

tl;dr that last guy was a chump - this place is amazing.

order the mac and cheese and then run away quickly. ruined our anniversay dinner with some of the worstserviceand food i've ever had. my new york strip (normally a clean cut) was half fat and the rest connective tissue. the peppercorn sauce on top was tasteless (how do you do that to peppercorn?) and the mashed potatoes were sub par. all of this for only $32! she didn't like her chicken. it was chewy. our waiter took forever, chatted with other tables, drank from a wine glass he had cleared and offered me a to go box for my pile of chewed fat and tendon. there are much better restaurants in this price range. even the very good mac and cheese couldn't get me back in here. stay away!

the best!!!. a great place for a glass of wine and any one of their gourmet dishes. the chicken strawberry salad is fantastic, as are their seafood and steak dishes. i could go to this restaurant everyday. great food, greatserviceand very affordable. and, it's located within feet of several other fantastic restaurants... bob's chop house, fireside pies, and the hand made mexican restaurant with the great patio! a must try.

gem of a place!. what a nice little gem i am pleased to write about after our recent experience. laura b. rocked it by recommending so many wonderful dishes! the wine list is awesome and nicely priced. the bruschetta appetizer was packed with flavor, the perfectly grilled salmon with orzo was creamy-divine, scallops prepared to perfection with grilled asparagus. they offer salad size options which is a very nice surprise because my husband wanted to split one and i was not that hungry, however, it was big enough to share if i were hungry! the atmosphere is great, food outstanding,serviceamazing, friendly and very knowledgeable! the desserts...order one to share or have several, your tummy will thank you! we are in town working for a few weeks and will make this a must visit before we leave.

great service. food was good for the most part; pork ribs were outstanding; chop had a good flavor, but a little dry; asparagus perfectly cooked!servicewas outstanding!! i think his name was brett. . .atmosphere also comfortable and classy.

ms.. went to winewood for my birthday dinner. we were greeted by the owner/manager and seated promptly. brent was our server, and he was excellent.

i had oysters for an appetizer and pan- seared snapper for my entree. the food was excellent, theservicewas excellent, and i was presented a birthday cakelet made of decadent chocolate with drops of white "pearls" on top.

my son and my daughter-in-law also had good things to say about their food and service. i will go back.

barservice- room for improvement. wine selection - outstanding, food - outstanding, atmosphere - outstanding,serviceat the bar - very bad, not worth going back.
came in about 5:15 pm, about 7 or 8 customers at the bar. lady bartender was not busy but very difficult getting her attention to order a drink. about 5:40 wanted to order food again very difficult getting bartender's attention. when food came they set it down on the bar (nowhere near where i was). no silverware, no napkins, no follow up to see if we needed anything else. about 6:15 ordered second drink, very difficult for me and many others to get attention of bartender. about 7:30 wanted to pay bill. bill was brought promptly. waited 15 minutes bartender did not come back to take my money. bartender was drinking a soda, chatting with co-workers, looking around and straightening things up, but not waiting on customers. took check to hostess stand and asked to speak to a manager. waited 10 minutes, hostess came back and said the manager was busy and could not speak to me. finally a wait person came to the hostess stand, took my money and brought me my change. upon getting home i found i was overcharged on the bill and the wait person gave me back too much change.

this was our first time to winewood, first off everything looks nice but the resturant was very cold and empty. the waiter waited at least 15 minutes to take our order and it took over an hour to get our food, we had to ask a manager to find where our food was because our waiter kept wondering off. when our food got to the table it was cold and the sides were wrong and missing. the chicken was salty and flavorless and the mashed potatoes were like bland babyfood. 30 minutes later our waiter gives us a desset menu then dissapers again, we had to get the owner involved this time to find the waiter and get desserts. after finally ordering dessert it took another 20 minutes to get it! even though our meal was comped we will not be going back. overall very disappointed in theserviceand food.
