winewood grill

we have been to winewood about 6 times, all for brunch. the brunch is incredible. the food is inspired and elevated, the drinks are well-made and not overpriced.

the times we've been the service has been hit or miss, most of the time it's been good and attentive, but there's been a couple times that waiting for service has been 3/5 stars. still better than many other places.

there is rarely any wait at brunch and we always recommend this as a meeting spot for friends and family. we will continue to make this a go to restaurant for brunch. we also really need to try it for dinner, it almost feels like we typecast it.

we came here when this place first opened 4years ago and we hadn't been back since because we were so disappointed but we believe in second chances and we were not disappointed in the least! the food was amazing, the menu has gone through a serious change. the service was amazing also. the portions are generous for the price and the quality was outstanding! we will be back.

very disappointing experience. advertised live jazz music for easter brunch; but there was none. table needed to be cleaned when we sat down. food was delivered lukewarm on two of our four plates. except for the chicken fried ribeye steak, food was very mediocre. absolutely not a $100 meal, but that's what we paid.
we have had a very good meal at winewood, but today felt like their were going through the motions. poor meal.

just because a restaurant doesn't have a kids' menu doesn't mean you can't go.  i may only be 8, but my parents know i can eat an entire grownup meal.  that is why every once in a while we get to go somewhere really nice with our parents.  this place was awesome!  we got to drink out of actual glasses and not plastic cups (even my 5 year old brother jacob!).  my salmon was very good and i really liked my brother's shrimp (he let me have a couple).  typically my parents would just give my little brother some of all of our food instead of ordering him a meal, but this time winewood made a special shrimp order (kid size) just for him.  we will definitely be back!

sea trout. flavorful, tender fish filet in perfect creamy sauce.

food was mediocre. i ordered a tenderloin filet - $35 which is comparable to top notch steak houses like del friscos, bobs, ruth's chris etc. however - the steak was not top notch - it was bland and not a quality cut meat. my daughters hamburger was better than my steak. kids items are $10 a plate. save your money and eat elsewhere. if you're craving steak to to bobs or ruth's chris.

nice but pricy. our server was attentive to begin but forgot about us after topping up our drinks the first time. his tip was docked for that. the food was satisfactory but not outstanding; i've had better at many less expensive restaurants. worth a try if you've never been there before but don't be disappointed if you are disappointed.

unlike the last guy i have nothing but good things to say about this fine little establishment.

winewood has become 'my' place since moving to grapevine 6 months ago. in that time i have come to be a regular at winewood and that is rooted *solely* in the quality of the experience.
the staff is phenomenal - and i mean like, actually phenomenal. john leads a very competent and capable wait staff and himself has become a big draw to coming back. he consistently remembers our preferences and suggests wines and specials that we actually really like. he has an attention to detail that can get lost in the service industry - so much so that i am now comfortable letting him select wines for my wife and i... he just knows what we like.
carlos the manager is also awesome. i only know carlos as the manager because he made it a point to introduce himself and continues to recognize both my wife and i by name since our first visit.

finally... the food.
tonight i had sea bass and scallops and would bet you dollars to donuts it was better than what you ate.
i know it was.
because it was f**king awesome.

tl;dr that last guy was a chump - this place is amazing.

order the mac and cheese and then run away quickly. ruined our anniversay dinner with some of the worst service and food i've ever had. my new york strip (normally a clean cut) was half fat and the rest connective tissue. the peppercorn sauce on top was tasteless (how do you do that to peppercorn?) and the mashed potatoes were sub par. all of this for only $32! she didn't like her chicken. it was chewy. our waiter took forever, chatted with other tables, drank from a wine glass he had cleared and offered me a to go box for my pile of chewed fat and tendon. there are much better restaurants in this price range. even the very good mac and cheese couldn't get me back in here. stay away!

the best!!!. a great place for a glass of wine and any one of their gourmet dishes. the chicken strawberry salad is fantastic, as are their seafood and steak dishes. i could go to this restaurant everyday. great food, great service and very affordable. and, it's located within feet of several other fantastic restaurants... bob's chop house, fireside pies, and the hand made mexican restaurant with the great patio! a must try.

food is always excellent!!! i've been multiple times and have never been disappointed. love the staff!

more like wine wouldn't. server was inexperienced but polite and did an acceptable job.
the blt salad was very weak and appeared to have been made with bacon bits and bagged salad. the strip steak is listed as being peppercorn and bleu cheese crusted and was presented to me with a ball of compound cheese/butter on top. the cut of meat was awful for the one bite i took before i sent it back. my wife had the tuna and it was even more abysmal. gray in color and it looked like a veggie burger patty. another friend had a spinach and mixed green salad with chicken and there was no chicken or spinach. this was the first time i've seen someone send back a salad.

overall i would have been upset with the offerings of this restaurant at a quarter of the prices they were asking.

no thanks! cold impersonal setting, food was marginal and wine selection was limited. there are much better places, with a personality, just down the street.

gem of a place!. what a nice little gem i am pleased to write about after our recent experience. laura b. rocked it by recommending so many wonderful dishes! the wine list is awesome and nicely priced. the bruschetta appetizer was packed with flavor, the perfectly grilled salmon with orzo was creamy-divine, scallops prepared to perfection with grilled asparagus. they offer salad size options which is a very nice surprise because my husband wanted to split one and i was not that hungry, however, it was big enough to share if i were hungry! the atmosphere is great, food outstanding, service amazing, friendly and very knowledgeable! the desserts...order one to share or have several, your tummy will thank you! we are in town working for a few weeks and will make this a must visit before we leave.

great service. food was good for the most part; pork ribs were outstanding; chop had a good flavor, but a little dry; asparagus perfectly cooked! service was outstanding!! i think his name was brett. . .atmosphere also comfortable and classy.
