wine dive

i have never been to wichita and thisplacelooked right up my alley. not so much. the spinach salad came with this mayo tectured green dressing that overpowered all its awesome ingredients. the salad became doable after finally ordering red wine vinegar straight. i ordered the wild boar pasta. now the boar was tender, pasta cooked to perfection but nothing else stood out. no great marinara. no great fresh veggies. i was just disappointed. i also sat at the bar so i could see the kitchen. 2 "chefs" in the kitchen sat there and giggled at nothing for all of 10 minutes. i couldnt understand them at all. there was however a gentleman in the corner with headphones working his tail off. he was quick, quiet, and efficient. one of the servers did seem annoyed by the two laughing guys in the kitchen. overall it could have been better. would not go back.

i was unimpressed, i meani guess if you can't cook yourself thisplacemight be okay. everything is beige and disappointing. entrees are boring, and it's rare they add a fresh herb even as garnish.

i think thisplaceis great. the scallops are always fresh, the oysters are delish. even got my mother to try 1, then she continued to finish them. should have ordered the full plate. lol. the risotto is always cooked to perfection. the only complaint is that it is very hot in there during the summer makes it a little uncomfortable to stay and enjoy more wine!!!

great atmosphere. we arrived at 12pm on a sunday for brunch. we ordered the lobster hash, seafood omelette and cuban sandwich. everything we ordered was great and priced well. the bloody mary, irish coffee, blackberry mojito and pain killer were great as well. service was good and there was no wait to be seated. i am surprised thisplaceis not raited higher than 75%. three entrees and 4 alcoholic beverages plus a coffee and a soda and our bill was only 68.00.

overall thisplaceis ok. i've enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, and i live just down the street so these things keep mecoming back. i've never been very impressed with the service though. the staff just doesn't seem to care all that much, isn't very engaging, and i feel like i'm just another table they need to deal with. i hope the food and atmosphere stay worthwhile, otherwise i will probably stop coming here.

great wine...hit or miss food. first...i love the wine list and the general vibe / atmosphere of mikes wine dive.

i've had some great food here--sandwiches, cheese plates, anchiote pork chops.

i've also recently had some poor food here--both in quality and preparation. they have a $22 filet and a $30 ribeye on the menu. the server made an effort to describe that the steaks were from creekstone farms--the "sameplacechester's chophouse gets their steaks from." asking about which steak came with mushrooms, i chose the ribeye over the filet for that specific reason.

my steak came out, without mushrooms, and cooked medium well. i'd asked for medium. the sides of mashed potatoes were cold, and the sauce on the steak--while i think they were aiming for an au poivre--was more reminicent of teriaki. i asked the server about mushrooms, and she brought out a bowl of mushrooms swimming in the sauce. the steak was very fatty--not marbled like a normal ribeye, but huge chucks of fat both around the edges and within the steak itself. the vegetables were pretty good--squash, zuc, and green beans.

overall, it just wasn't that tasty, and it wasn't worth $30.

and ps--don't hype your steak by dropping the name of the most respected steakhouse in town unless you're going to prepare it half-way decently.

expensive and boring ..... i usually come to enjoy wine at thisplacebut friday the 19 after i paid my 30 $ bill i left thinking i'll be back next week for my usual glass of wine... wednesday i checked my bank account and they helped them selves to a 30 $ tip ... i called them for help and they refused to be helpful .... so people pay cash for a better experience

awful service, host was rude and did not want to seat us because they were so busy even though they had open tables for us and the girl bartending that night practically ignored us for a good 15-20 minutes. where are the managers here?? it was like the wholeplacewas run by children

looked really small from outside. wasnt sure i wanted to eat here. but, we gave it a shot. they sat us quickly! our waiter was awesome; he knew which wines paired nicely with the menu (his job, technically) but his advice was still very good. the seafood mac-n-cheese was great! best junk food i've ever had. my hubby had the fajitas, which were fantastic! the server checked on us frequently, the ambiance was lovely and the wine selection was superb! i am so impressed with thisplacethat i'm writing the review (rudely) at the table. please give thisplacea double look and enjoy the place!

went on a date here and had a great time. staff was knowledgable and attentive. food was definitely better than most places in town. even on a thursday night thisplacehad a crowd! definitely going here again.

boring food. i read about thisplacein splurge....sorry to say but our food was bland and tasteless...

it's ok. seems a little pricey for what you get but appears to be a gatheringplaceafter 5 p.m. for cocktails and appetizers.

i enjoyed the ambience of theplaceand my waiter pushed me on trying an expensive glass of wine which i actually liked a lot. food was great! nice to see a local business making aplacei enjoy going to.

ambiance is nice, and the food could be wonderful if the flavors were bolder and spicier. the wine by glass selection is limited, but what we tasted of their selections were all quite good. with a bolder menu and more selections by the glass, thisplacecould make it past the initial success of it's newness.

talk of the town. this is theplaceto be seen in wichita. not only does it have an exceptional wine menu but the food is absolutely delicious!! a must go!
