good food, not the best, but good. i ate lunch at wheatfields last wednesday with my mom. i really don't have anything bad to say about it. service was actually good, but it has been slow in my past experiences.

my biggest complaint about wheatfields is their menu system. it sends me into overload! i suppose this could be considered a good thing, but i think they could condense things, or at least use less overwhelming (obnoxious) font in their menus. they have breakfast, fondues, "butterbuns", salads, wraps, more sandwiches, hot dinner-like entrees, a chicken section, an atkins section, a burger section, a crepe section, casseroles, desserts...you get the picture. (no, i didn't memorize their menu, but looked on their website...just wanted to give you an idea about their ginormous selections/sections.) it's almost humorous once you get to looking at everything.

okay, enough with that. menu business aside, their food is good. nothing fancy, but just comforting, home-cooked style food. they have tons of vegetarian options, which i enjoy. this day i had the eggplant/veggie wrap and liked it. tons of veggies and it had a herbed cream cheese spread; the wrap itself was good too. the menu said it was served with chips, which i was fine with...but when i got my plate, i noticed they were clearly sun chips. i like sun chips, but a restaurant like this serving them? kinda odd. if they had served it with homemade chips, it would've been a perfect lunch.

my mom had an asparagus/tomato/cheese sandwich (i've had this before, and it's amazing) and she loved it. hers came with waffle fries, which are also really good here.

overall, i would recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. their bakery/pastry section looks amazing, though i've never tried any of them.

good luck reading through the menus, though. :-)

fields of deliciousness!. i've been coming here for several years. i've always received friendly service and outstanding food. the only problem i've run into is ordering from the menu. there are so many great choices that i have a hard time deciding what to get.
this morning i ordered the baked apricot creme brulee` waffle. yes, it was basically dessert for breakfast. the dish was so yummy on its own; no need for the sides of syrup and whip cream.
make sure you check out the bakery. this place is heaven for those of us who have a sweet tooth!

$4 iced tea? are you kidding?. i refuse to return to wheatfields. the food is ok. the baked goods are ok. but i will not pay $4 for a drink, especially when it is rarely refilled. who is arrogant enough to charge $4 for a glass of iced tea? not even starbucks charges that! i called the manager and he said the owner refuses to reduce the price, but that he agreed. sad. i enjoyed going to wheatfields, but will find a new favorite place because this is just a crime. ron popp should get a clue!

bleh. somehow i keep getting sucked in after vowing not to return, thinking this time it will be better. while their baked goods are delicious, the rest of their food is just okay if that. far too overpriced for the quality. granted they do have several delicious soups - tomato cheese being one of them and several others. but today, yet again, a disappointment. i pulled a half wrap out of the cooling case to take to-go, along with my tomato soup, and i swear, it had to have been sitting in there for three days. the tortilla was soggy and slimey and the whole thing was gross. plus, the chicken had grissle in it. suggestion to wheatfields, you may want to consider a fresh batch of to-go items each day. this has happened to me one too many times.

wait-fields. i don't get the big deal with this place. i suppose it is a decent dessert place. though, it all seems a bit over-priced in my opinion.

i've been there a handful of times. not usually by my choice. (...for work ...meet friends) i keep trying different items in hopes of finding something good that i would get again. i've yet to find anything.

besides the wait to be seated, the service seems bothered to even have to have to take your order. for the food you get, there are better places. for the price you pay, there are less expensive places.

wheatfields. the menu is massive and the place is usually bustling at meal times. everything i've tried has been good, not great, but the dessert selections can be wonderful. i have had spotty service on several occasions with the restaurant both busy and slow.

good food, and lots of it!. good home cookin', though it can get expensive. i've had some hits and misses, recently, so quality is a bit inconsistent. overall, however, it's still on my list of "likes."

not only was the food of horrible quality, so was the service. i have been to wheatfields a couple times before and i have never had a good experience. the food is way overpriced and is not even that good. you could have a better breakfast at perkins and for $20 less! no joke! the servers there always seem pissed off and have no personality and if there is a problem don't expect it to be fixed or to even receive an apology! oh, and watch out for the omelets, they have no problem charging you $25 for an omelet that would have cost me $5 at home. i have also heard that the proprietor treats his employees very unfairly! if you're craving breakfast or american food, look somewhere else!

food not good...bakery de-lish!. i have had their strawberry wedding cake before and it was delicious - but today i ate at the one pacific place location and the food was not good and the service was even worse. this was the first time i had eaten lunch there and the last. i had a $10 salad that was medium in size, and had an extremely dry piece of chicken on it. the waitress was very slow at everything from taking our order all the way through giving us our check. and had very little personality. the whole experience was a huge let down and this is one place where the price does not determine the quality or service. omaha has tons of choices to eat at - i would recommend choosing a different one!

dessert heaven. i have been to wheatfields a few times now and have decided that the dessert is wonderful. although they have a huge food menu with a wide selection of items, the food tends to be bland. all of the food is well-made, but as characteristic of most mid-america restaurants, the food is lacking in flavor. they serve breakfast all day, which i would say is there best offering. all of their baked goods (breads and muffins) have been fantastic and the desserts are to awesome. so, my recommendation is: get a light meal and save up your appetite for one of their desserts.

eh, not-so-much. i've dined out at wheatie's many times; however, since our last visit; i will not be back. we went in on a snowy evening a few months ago and were greeted by the host; he then told us they may be closing early due to how slow business was that evening... we asked if we could still dine and he said, "sure. i guess". after waiting for about 5 minutes: no server, the host came over and asked if anyone had been with us... he said, "sorry" went and got us some waters and said he'd try and find our server..... 10 more minutes pass... no server. wow, having worked in the service industry i know this is completely unexceptable. we then looked at each other and decided to head over to ruby tuesdays across the plaza at one pacific place. -please note; this was my boyfriends birthday and we had been snowed in for about 3 days during the big snowstorm at the beginning of dec. the management team needs to get it together.

great bakery and okay restaurant. be prepared to wait here for a table if you decide to go at a time most people eat. sundays are a real zoo for brunch. if you don't have the time to wait you can order take out.
they have one of omaha's best restaurant bakeries, and feature a "pie of the month" at a duscount. the menu features hearty american and european inspired items dished up in huge portions and moderate prices. service is always friendly, but expect sluggish attention when they get slammed. the food isn't gourmet, but is of good quality. the menu is huge and confusing...you may spend 15 minutes just trying to get through it all.

yes!!! - variety. regency pkwy and pacific - dinner - 4.5 people
shopping center

appetizer - none ordered but many of the hot entrees come with a dinner salad. i really like their ranch dressing, it tastes like it has a little pesto in it. salad was a good size for a pre-meal tease and was cold and fresh.

meal - i had to get liver and onions because you just don't see that much. the meat was prepared well, not over cooked but was a little bland. came with a side of corn which was aweful i thought, very bitter and otherwise tasteless and unseasoned, and creme brulee potato which stole the show. they are incredible.
others at the table had beef stroganoff, soup and sandwich, and a dinner salad of some sort that i can't recall. all the meals looked delicious, but we were there fairly early in the evening (7pm or so) and the kitchen had already run out of the type of soup that was requested by our party.

dessert - we took home a serving of cheesecake from the bakery and it was very good. the other pastries also looked delicious and the smell of the pastries and breads was nice from the moment we walked in.

service - waiter was good, but slow. price was fair for the quality of the meal. the atmosphere was friendly, family style and the decoration of the dinning room reminded me of a hunting lodge decorated by grandma.

we enjoyed wheatfields and will go back again, the menu has something for everyone and it seems they put a little twist on some very good classic meals.
