the bakery is really good. the restaurant is just okay. service was pretty slow and we had to ask for everything- napkins, silverware, drink refills, etc. the food isn't good enough to make up for the poor service.

one like, one dislike. this was our first time going to wheatfields and we went specifically for dessert. my husband had a piece of the strawberry wedding cake and it was fantastic! i had a piece of the mom's chocolate sour cream cake and it was not worth the calories. the cake was dry and the frosting tasted like it came from a can.

wonderful place to gather. tomorrow is my daughter's third wedding anniversary. we had her wedding brunch at wheatfields'. the food and service were amazing. most importantly, the strawberry wedding cake was delectable! this will be the first year she won't have it on her anniversary because she has moved from omaha. she is very sad!!
thanks for the great memories, wheatfield's!!!

i find myself surprised by all of the negative reviews. every time i have eaten here the food has been nothing but delicious and the service has been pleasant. the fried chicken and the crepes stand out to me as especially good, but i've been happy with everything i have ordered. save room for dessert, because there are baked goods as far as the eye can see. if you love chocolate, do yourself a favor and try the katherine hepburn brownies. i don't think i can say enough about them.

rude owner, needs to learn some manners in the restaurant biz!. this past week i ordered a double layer, 1/4 sheet cake! the cake was clearly too big for the box as it was shoved in. the piping and and icing were smeared across almost three sides. there were indentation marks from the box on two sides. this cake looked like it had rode in the back of car! after complaining to the owner, ron popp via phone. he said there was nothing they can do about it. i stated to him, clearly it was still edible, but i wasn't about to pay $70.00 for this cake looking like this. he told me if i didn't like it, i could purchase two round cakes instead or go buy a cake at hyvee. i literally stood there in shock as i, the customer, was treated so rudely, when even the employees were agreeing with me that cake had taken a beating. i ended my conversation as clearly we were getting no where and he began to raise his voice to me over the phone! the two employees at the counter took the cake to back counter and tried to fix it for me. at that time, the owner called them back and told them, "they were not allowed to even sell me the cake and to take it away from me". he is clearly one of the rudest restaurant owners i think i've ever dealt with. i've been going there for years, but i suggest to everyone, think about where you're spending your money. we have 1000 restaurants in omaha and bakeries all over town, spend your money where it's appreciated. i then attended a birthday party - with no cake, thanks to wheatfields bad attitude!

when it is cold outside there is nothing like good comfort food to warm you up. this month population-we™ (pop-we) dinner club foodie conrad chose wheatfields eatery & bakery. wheatfields has three locations scattered throughout the omaha metropolitan area: the old market (downtown), one pacific place and shadow lake in papillion. with a slight european flare, they serve simple food that customers love. serving breakfast all-day, wheatfields has a large menu to satisfy any craving. our dinner club went to the one pacific place location near regency (1224 s. 103rd st.). read our full dinner club review at...

2.5 hour breakfast. i invited 6 of my friends (mostly with kids) to a 9:00 breakfast. the hostess was nice. we were one of two parties there.our table was dirty. our order was taken forty min later. we were never offered refills. our food was ok. it took an hour for our waiter to bring a check. most of us had very restless little ones. when the waiter brought the check he made a very passive aggressive comment and never apologized for the delay.

wake up, wheatfields!. i've thought for a long time that wheatfields is not a good value. my visit on aug 31 confirmed this and more.

i ordered bacon and eggs. the eggs looked awful, but were edible. hashbrowns and toast were stone cold. the server was helpful, but i ended up eating bacon and eggs, followed when done by reheated hashbrowns and fresh toast that was warm, but not piping. i stuck to ice water because their coffee and tea beverages are pricey.

the cashier was busy and distracted when i tried to tell her about the problems with the meal.

judging from other posts, i am not the only one coming out of wheatfields disappointed. there are far too many good restaurants in omaha to waste my time on a place like this. they began to alienate me when they forced delice out of the old market. they continue. i won't be back.

disappointed. i recently treated a friend to breakfast. wheatfield's has always been one of my favorites and i was looking forward to the experience. my friend had to leave a bit early for a business meeting. imagine my embarrassment when we were told that there would be a fifty cent charge for a "to go" cup for her. as i was treating i said no problem - my friend was embarrassed that she asked for a cup and declined. we will not be returning and i am sharing this information with anyone i can.

and by the way "first watch" restaurants are coming to omaha - they give free coffee while you wait. i believe they will put quite a dent in wheatfield's business. to be fair i did attempt to call management to discuss my concerns and after being on hold for 12 minutes plus the connection was severed by the restaurant. i decided to write this instead.

men's bathroom was a port-a-potty?. wondering how they were managing to be open for business today. (july 29, 2013)

there was a sign on the door saying "good news. our bathrooms are undergoing a remodel... bad news! the men's bathroom is currently a port-a-potty around back".

how do you run a restaurant without a working indoor bathroom?? sure, the women had a place to pee, but the men had to use an outhouse? somehow that doesn't sound like something the board of health would approve of.

we ended up not staying and eating. i'll be emailing the board of health tomorrow.

horrible!. food was sub par. so many things were disastrous! extremely slow almost non-existant service. 50 minutes from time of arrival to time that the food arrived. hash-browns were a rectangle of inedible gunk. my husband asked for well done toast but it was only "tan" on one edge. the waiter said, "it wasn't toasted at all and i had them put it back it again." i'm wondering why he couldn't "put it in again" until it's toasted! when the food was delivered part of the order was missing. after waiting a few minutes i had to go summon someone to bring the missing item. i filled out a detailed comment card listing all of the things that went wrong. it has been over a week and no response. owner must not care! there are so many wonderful restaurants in omaha that none of us need to waste time and money on wheatfield's at one pacific place.

a must to avoid for groups. we brought our son's wedding party here for a rehearsal dinner. two months in advance, we reserved the patio, informing them that we would have 12-15 people. we paid a $100.deposit against a $250 guaranteed minimum. when we arrived, we quickly learned that a group of 50 had come in at the same time. we had one server, who pushed drinks. i asked for a martini and was told the bar had no vodka. he was slow to take our orders from 12 people and it took over an hour to get our food. it was so late by the time we finished that we cancelled the fondues we'd planned. told we'd have to pay for them anyway, i asked to see the manager. i argued that because they had ignored us for a much larger group we were even. she ended up charging us another $171, plus an 18 percent tip. after i signed the debit chit, i asked for a copy. promising one, she disappeared. after finally getting one from staff, i saw her sitting outside talking to another staff. the verdict? decent food, reasonable prices, poor to average service, best avoided with smaller groups, especially o friday night. because of their tardiness, my son and his brother were late for the bachelor party, and we were handed the fondues anyway. at least we got a free breakfast out of it.
