we went there today to have yum cha for lunch. the queue was somewhat 15 m long when we arrived. we waited patiently until our turn to get the table. one third of the restaurant was not used, tables were set, but lights were off. after we got the table, it took some times for us to be served, and while we were waiting, we thought that it would be nice that we helped ourselves with some forks and spoons as some of us don't do chopsticks. my manager went to pick up some forks and suddenly this rude woman in glasses and ponytails yelled on top of her voice from the other side of the room while she was setting up a table for my manager to just sit down and wait to be served. all eyes were on us as the restaurant was full of guests. we were so embarrassed as if we were criminals getting caught stealing something. then, after a while she came and asked what we needed.
towards the end of the 45 minute limit, the same rude woman came to our desk again, telling us rudely that our time is off. then, my manager who was finishing her last pieces of vegies and told her that we will be finishing soon. did not care about my manager's remark, she grabbed the dish and her chopsticks, plates and bowls. we were all aghast! why would a restaurant staff be so rude and has no manners at all??? is this the way vinh phat train their staff???
we know that this restaurant is famous, has nice food, but does that compensate the service? there are lots of people out there who has better manners and wants to work. if this woman has attitude issues, vinh phat management better act fast. we will come again next time, but we will not want this woman to serve us!
and just for your information, by 1.40 we were finishing, there was no one queueing for the table!

ruined my first experience due to biting a stapler in the dumpling!!!. my first time at vinh phat was a bad experience with the siu mai dumplings. i bit into a stapler! yes, a stapler. and i thank god that my teeth were not affected nor i swallowed the stapler. i took the stapler out in front of the staff, and expected them to ask me if i was okay, but they were glaring at me for the whole time. i was going to make a complaint, but cannot believe i let it go this time. this incident affected my appetite afterwards. perhaps, they should be cautious next time with the food handling, because they were lucky that i didn't swallow the stapler.

this was my go to place for yum cha with my family, i don't know what happened but the quality of food and service was shocking on mothers day. after waiting 45 minutes you would think it would be worth it, but definitely not on this occasion! not many variety of foods came out and some foods which really stood out from the rest which wasn't fresh were the dimsims, prawn siomai and also the chicken spring rolls (had some foul smell to it which i haven't experience in the past when ordering this). even shocking is the fact they didn't have fried rice available that day as their excuse was that it was apparently too busy and one of their chefs didn't come in.. what yum cha place doesn't have fried rice!?! that is my first to ever hear that over my years of eating at yum cha's (20 yrs +). i'm definitely not taking my family here again..

there's no place like home: this phrase is truer than true growing up in cabramatta. the main streets to the narrowest of alleyways are full of life with hustle and bustle at each turn. a predominately vietnamese and chinese community, this small south-western suburb put itself on the map for its diverse asian culture, bargain fabrics and affordable eats. where else are you going to find some of sydney's best pork rolls, supermarkets selling exotic fruit like durian and thai grocery stores - and all within a couple of metres from one another? the growing little asia metropolis that was once overshadowed by its dark past, these days you'll count yourself lucky to get a parking spot within 30 minutes and don't have to wait more than that for a seat at the restaurant. we were not so lucky for this sunday morning unfortunately taking more than 40+mins to find parking... after vigorously fighting old ladies for parking spots, we finally made it to queue for vinh phat yum cha. vinh phat has been around for as long as i can remember, a small institution that planted their roots at the space across the road (now the vietnamese street food place). the previous space housed no more than twenty tables i think, with apprehensive red curtains and worn down fittings. still, they did well. really well and enough for them to move to into a much bigger space opposite. after a 30-40minute wait, we got to the top of the stairs to see the whole space filled with happy diners. hot tea, chilli sauce and menus were given to us as soon as we sat down - not as if we needed them though, we're regular yum cha eaters ;-)

heard so many great reviews, yet disappointing to see chiefs with such poor hygene. the service is not too bad yet left hanging most of the time waiting for the good food as they pass the regulars most likely with the best picks. this is only bad review, although if you go, be sure you look out for what i have mentioned.

was super keen to try this place out after hearing very positive things about it. however, i was highly disappointed by the appalling service and the lack of interest the staff had to create a positive experience. overall, the food was mediocre but i will not be returning, as the staff had accused us of leaving without paying.

i came on thursday evening. 1:40pm table 45 two people. heard good things about this place. waited 10 minutes to finally receive a dim sum and har gow. waited another 10minutes for no food trolleys to come past. asked several staff to order and they just said wait for the trolleys. i ask the man dress in white with a walkie talkie thinking he had some sought of higher ranking. completely ignored us. staff finally pushed a trolley to us we said hi and she pushed passed us to serve the bigger tables before she came back to us. no service and no regard for any customers sitting down. just care about cleaning tables and money. stood up and left. still made me try to pay when i didn’t even the food on the table 🤣

super cheap yumcha we ordered 7 dishes plus 2 cokes only cost $50 something. taste a bit hit & miss, my fav were the fried taro with chicken ragout inside, shomay, fried prawn rolls. mango pancake too sweet for my liking. and the 4th picture dimsum dont know what its name, taste horrible. it filled with quail eggs but the sauce taste weird. lucky us get table very quick probably because we only 2 person so not hard to find vacant table. it’s the place for come, eat & go home everything was in rush considering long queue outside.

i couldn’t think of a worse place to spend my money. the whole experience was horrible. my night started with a rude host who asked us to check in with the service nsw and then proceeded to not believe that my family and i had. upon ordering we had asked for a jug of ice water as the only beverage provided was tea at night time. we had to asked 3 different waiters and after 30 mins we finally had received the iced water. when trying to order certain dishes we were told that certain dishes were unavailable despite other tables being able to order those dishes after us. when finishing up our subpar meal we tried to ask a waiter for takeaway containers. we were so rudely brushed off. the waiter so bluntly put this hand up towards my face as if it was so rude of me to ask for his assistance. 10 minutes later of trying to speak to another waiter the rude waiter circled around and had the hyde to say ‘did you want something?’
how disgusting!
no one deserves to be treated with such disrespect.
i will never return to this restaurant and will do my best to encourage others to steer clear as well. if i could give a rating lower than 1 star i absolutely would.
