there are some great dishes in their latest setmenu- specially loved their chicken and duck croquettes. the cocktail and the fish dishes were a let down.

veeraswamy is said to be the first ever indian restaurant in the uk. it is a great place for fine dining. food was delicious and well presented. they have a business lunchmenuwhich is a great option with many choices. dessert was a bit of a letdown. definitely worth trying if you haven't been here!

finally after multiple failed attempts we got the chance to go to veeraswamy. heard so much about this indian restaurant. the food and experience was simply awesome. however, i have to say that you should be ready to pay more to experience the ambiance, service and of course the michelin star. service was very welcoming. we were bit surprised that veg dum biryani was not on themenufor which we were told it was some sort of a compromise they had to make. cant say much on that comment. we ordered drinks and i enjoyed the cocktail. we ordered veg platter for starter - soya samosa, chandni paneer tikka, and dahi papdi. i wanted to taste raj kachori which was divine. the spice levels were simply perfect e.g., not too much of chaat masala or too much of dahi. chandni paneer tikka was so tender and fresh. soya samosa was good. for mains we ordered veg selection platter consisting of hara paneer, daal (sindhi style slowly cooked three lentils), chettinad aloo and subz kofta. hara paneer's gravy was very good. the moment i tasted the aloo i was reminded of chettinad dishes i used to have in chennai. it was not very hot but at the same time retained the flavour of chettinad. kofta was good. enjoyed the daal which was again cooked well. overall all the dishes appeared fresh with authentic flavours and taste. one good thing was that the food didnt have too much of oil.

i would make couple of suggestions. the mirchi naan could have been be bit more hot e.g., couldnt taste the chilli that much. they have to improve the online booking system. i tried to book online through my phone and it didnt show availability and when my wife tried it showed availability. she booked online but she didnt get any email confirmation. later, she called the restaurant and they said that as there was no slot available the system wouldnt have sent an booking confirmation email. but later they told that one slot is available around 5.30 and this slot was not visible to me on the online booking system. didn't understand why some of the alcoholic drinks were bit pricey.

decided to break my lent fast with a dinner at veeraswamy.menuwas quite interesting with all selective stuffs in it and not overcrowded with other usual stuff. started with quail and it was my first try. it was nice and crunchy. the curry leaves were an add on surprise. the lamb pasand a just took our hearts with its soft perfectly cooked lamb with the spices flown through them. the creamy balanced flavour just melted in our mouth. the chicken biryani was subtle and flavoured with not so spicy and sweet. it was exactly how the biryani shud b. but strangely it wasn't served with raita. the poppadums and its chutney were not so impressive though.. quantity was good. so overall it was a nice interesting experience. will recommend it to others.

way overpriced. had the tastermenuwith drinks, and although the starters were good, the main course was distinctly average. there are many better indian restaurants in london.

as i've said before i'm not a big fan of expensive and snooty restaurants and they simply bring out the worst critic in me. veeraswamy boasts about being the oldest indian restaurant in the uk, well then turn it into a museum! ok i'm being too harsh. the starters were good but the main course was all sorts of confusing. too much spice too little flavour. just random masalas dumped into the biryani in the hope that at least one will work. themenuis meagre so you expect even more from each dish. no desserts!!! india has a wide variety of sweet meats and you've got sorbet!

i visited this restaurant with my family. it was a really good place for the vegetarian specifically. being a vegetarian, one often find 2 or 3 items on any menu, but to have such an extensivemenufull of vegetarian & vegan varieties was quite a treat. i had a hard time choosing. and the food when it arrived, it was sizzling. the taste was good. i really loved this place and wish to go back soon.

it was delightful to visit veeraswamy today for lunch. all my previous visits to this place have been over dinner and we were worried about lunch time rush, service or quality. food and service was great and business lunchmenuis best if you are short on time. will visit again for business lunch.

i had a disappointing evening at this place. after having visited an amazing restaurant and another mediocre one, i was keen to close the loop and visit this much talked about restaurant. the positive points include a nice central location, romantic ambience complete with rose petals on the table, and an attentive and friendly staff. i enjoyed my starter, which was raj kachori, their signature dish.
i also ordered hyderabadi lamb biryani which was very basic given the £25 price tag. i've definitely had better biryani than that one. the items on themenuseem to be highly overpriced for the standard provided. other negatives include the tacky decor. i wouldn't recommend this to anyone in a hurry and i am unlikely to go there for another visit.

themenuis quite an extensive one. we recently went there and tried several dishes. out of all those that we tried, the chicken tikka was the best. the rest of the meal was also good but chicken tikka definitely was the star for us. i would recommend you all to try this place some time.

i have had no complaints at the restaurant except for the fact that themenuis overpriced. the food is delicious but not exceptionally so. the service is decent too. there are similar substitutes at cheaper prices and that is the only downside to this place. the interiors are simple.

our lunch at veerasamy was one of the best meals i've ever had in my life. everything from the beginning was top class, the ambience, the reception, the food, the hospitality. never seen anything better.
the story behind our trip to this restaurant is actually quite a funny one. after about a week of living on sandwiches and salads, the average indian person craves something hot and spicy. hence i began my google search for indian restaurants in the area. veerswamy, i believe was third on the list, but we decided to go here because the name is popularly a chettinad name, which is known for its authentic spicy food. but, we were taken by surprise when we walked into the restaurant. themenuread dishes from all over india. and we decided to order because our stomaches were growling after having to take 3 trains. for drinks, i ordered a lychee lemonade, my mum asked for the rhubarb and rose lassi and my dad opted for a beer. seriously the taste of lychee lemonade is heaven after a hot day in london. and for our starters, we ordered green herb paneer tikka and chicken lollipops, which were served to us in no time. for our mains we asked for the crescent platter, which is a genius idea because you get to taste four different sides and a kerala prawn curry and some bread and rice. we were served almost immediately after we were done with the starters. the food was hot, tasted amazing, our waiter was great. no complains. best £108 spent!
