the advantage of being a surry hills local is we never run out of dining options.  in fact there are so many new places to visit that sometimes we take the long standing establishments for granted.  vacanza has been around for quite a while but we never got around to try it until now.

even during the mid-week there's still queue outside and they don't take reservation, we were lucky to get a table straightaway. after some effort to get staff's attention and finally got our wine glasses, we ordered mozzarella, prosciutto, focaccia bread, and a tiger prawn pizza. every thing tasted fresh and tasty, especially the mozzerella  the pizza had thin crust and cooked in the wood oven on site. byo is $8 per bottle, they also have wine by carafe at reasonable price.

the only down side is there is no air-conditioning and the only ventilation comes from the natural air flow through ceiling to floor sliding doors.  with the heat from pizza oven right inside the restaurant, the place can get quite stuffy.  but it is a small price to pay for good fresh italian treat.

great pizzas on excellent thin chewy bases. althoughvacanzasays "less is more" and i could have handled more toppings, there were still more than average toppings for this kind of pizza and the topping quality and flavour was incredible. the prices are similar to the elite pizza places based in the cheaper suburbs so must be a bargain for surry hills or bronte, except that the pizzas - but nothing else on the menu - bizarrely use x.90 pricing with the .90 in tiny letters on the menu. the lasagne was boring, light on meat and flavour, so stick to the pizzas.

the first time we went tovacanzawe were very impressed: great pizza, buzzing place, fast service. on our second visit we realised how much the place has changed. we were given 2 seats by the window. never were we told that we had to rush as there was a booking within 45 minutes. we had the pizza which was nice. the wine was warm and atrocious. the kick in the guts was when we were asked to vacate half way through drinking the terrible wine. we were asked to go sit on top of a gelato bar to make way for people who had made a booking. they were clearly very annoyed when we refused and the manager was called to try and convince us to finish our drink in the corner. obviously no consideration for the current customers, only interested in getting us moving to make way for other customers. greedy and rude. never going there again.

easily the best pizza in sydney, and our favourite for more reasons than one. interesting story - we discovered on our first date that we both love pizza, and ended up atvacanzafor dinner! obviouslyvacanzaholds a special place in our hearts.

our recommendations here are for you if you have a big appetite - we almost over-binge every single time we go to vacanza.
start your meal with your favourite glass of red, and a portion of mortadella and pasta fritta. there's nothing like dough with delicious meat, and there is no other way to describe it!

your second course could then very well include more bread, and we'd definitely pitch for the diavola over everything else. if you haven't figured from our other reviews already, we love spice, so goes without saying that diavola (with chilli oil no less) is our go-to.

last and our favourite part - no visit to a pizzeria is complete without a tiramisu, so be nice to your tummy and share one with your loved one. just like we do every single time.

rely on the service here, no matter how busy or chaotic the evening may seem! the friendly staff atvacanzaare always so happy to look after each one of their customers.

been here twice and the pizza's here are definitely worth trying. pizzas are packed with flavour and just a party for the tastebuds. however, the only let down is that despite booking for the 2nd time, we were made to wait 30-40minutes and in the end placed to sit outside in the cold (had elderlies with us, external heaters were broken). staff didn't really seem apologetic and mindful. would have thought that booking would have meant a warm seat inside in a timely matter. would still come back but definitely hopevacanzalearns to improve on booking management.

i am italian and i went with other two italian friends two weeks ago. nice place, friendly staff (some, not all of them) and i love fela kuti in the background both times i have been, but unfortunately i am not a fun of their pizza. don't take me wrong, the ingredients are premium quality and it's wood-fire cooked, but it's not the kind of pizza i like. i love the neapolitan style - very thin and almost soggy in the middle, and the crust is lots of soft dough, with black of burnt spots here and there. the pizza atvacanzais thicker in the middle and too crispy/crunchy for our liking. again, it is not bad pizza, it's just not the pizza napoletana i'm used to and that i love so much. i think they changed their pizza (it was not like that the first time i went last year) to cater for the non-italian clientele, who i realised always complain about the pizza being too soggy for them...

vacanza is an exuberant pizzeria at the corner of bourke and fitzroy street. the casual and unassuming pizza bar features a mozzarella bar and an outdoor area for people-watching. the interior is fitted with brick walls decorated with stencils and pictures of bare-breasted women.

i ordered avacanzapizza, which came with san marzano tomatoes, olives and mozzarella. the pizza has a thicker crust which makes it more tedious and longer chewing. while the pizzas are distinctly more flavourful and richer in tastes, the crust was flimsy and unable to support the ingredients. hence, the cheese and tomatoes simply fell off the crust and it was a messy affair.

without a shadow of a doubt, this is the best pizza in sydney. there are other good pizza places but the pizzas atvacanzaare flawless.

the bruschetta is also amazing, best i’ve ever had. i can’t get back soon enough. i would move to surry hills just so i could eat here more often.

i have been told several timesvacanzais one of the best pizzerias in surry hills. rumor definitely has it. really enjoyed our dinner that we started with fresh burrata & continued sharing da franco, il capitano  & il saraceno pizzas. staff is really nice and efficient. probably better to book early to get a spot outside as it tends to be too noisy inside (it was a saturday night) so better if you are with friends than on a romantic date. great experience!

now this is the place to come for authentic italian pizza! the toppings are kept to a minimum and the dough is absolutely delicious.vacanzapizzeria has both indoor and outdoor seating options. sitting outside allows you to take in the streets and watch the people stroll on by. for starters we had the bolognese and pea arancini, garlic and herb bread and the green olives. mains were all about the pizza - the diavlo with hot sopressa, tomato and olives was my favorite but do not order this one unless you are a chilli lover. the capricciosa came in a close second with ham, artichokes, mushrooms and olives. pairing with wine is a must and overall you will be pleasantly surprised by how cheap the meals are. be sure to ask the staff for some chilli oil to add to your pizza. bellissimo!

the best pizza in sydney. not to mention the best service and the best location. we have been fans of this place for over 4 years now and it has never failed our expectations. the food is always fresh and takes you to another place. perhaps, to italy! the friendly staff with sexy italian accent make you feel welcome and warm.
alex always greets his customers with a smile and makes sure you enjoyed your food, no matter whether you just had a dinner or friday's lunch.
and last but not least, you must try tiramisu! it is to die for!
my family and friends we have tried many pizza places in sydney but trust mevacanzais officially the best!!!

there is no pizza place quite like vacanza. whether it be post a game at allianz stadium or just a night of casual dining, alessio and his team do an awesome job of producing wave after wave of wood-fired italian pizza.

set in funky surry hills, vacanzamanages to capture a little piece of modern italy in a welcoming upbeat environment.

the 'vacanza' is a must try as is the nutella calzone.

potentially the best pizza in all of sydney.

a pizza night out paves the way to the traditional and excitingvacanzapizzeria (414 bourke street, surry hills). this corner block hub has been on our 'to go' list for quite a while and so when we finally had the chance to check it out, i was all smiles =). their older brother and original pizzeria is located in bronte.vacanza261 - campari & sparkling blood orange on ice (left) negroni - gin, campari rosso, vermouth & soda on ice (right) ahhhhh these drinks or aka. the drinks of death . don't get me wrong, i can take my alcohol. sometimes i casually stroll into the petrol station and swig a few litres of e10 to get that ethanol hit, but boy were these drinks strong. i would love to describe the flavours of these drinks for you but honestly the campari is lethal. tip of the day - guys, if you want your girlfriend drunk then feed her a few of these. parma prosciutto is freshly sliced onto each pizza ball of beauty 125 grams of campania garofalo buffalo mozzarella first of all, let us
