vacanza pizzeria

this place is always a winner with a good choice that is relatively inexpensive. nice to sit outside in a group with a few drinks. great location in surry hills next to some good bars.

good pizzas, average entrees. we ordered the truffle, goats cheese and italian sausage pizza which was delicious and has so much flavour. the pizza had a thin base and puffy crust which is what i love. for entree, we ordered the bruschetta and burrata. the bruschetta did not have great tomatoes, they were the generic ones from the supermarket so were very hard and did not have much flavour. it was also served on a pizza base, so it was a very large serving which i did not expect. i prefer bruschetta on nice bread, and just one piece before the main meal not a whole pizza. the burrata cheese was nice but kind of lacking, it was just served on a bed of undressed rocket leaves. moral of the story, just order pizza! it's what they do best.

was in the mood for some good pizza after a wedding reception and came across this place, and decided to give it a shot; having heard good things about the place. safe to say it did not disappoint - it hit the spot to a tee. great service. would recommend to anyone after good italian in sydney.

horrible and embarrassing! nothing like it used to be. extremely disappointing. regret taking friends here. we brought friends for dinner after being regular customers for years, but had a really crap experience. avoid

easily the best pizza in sydney, and our favourite for more reasons than one. interesting story - we discovered on our first date that we both love pizza, and ended up at vacanza for dinner! obviously vacanza holds a special place in our hearts. 

our recommendations here are for you if you have a big appetite - we almost over-binge every single time we go to vacanza. 
start your meal with your favourite glass of red, and a portion of mortadella and pasta fritta. there's nothing like dough with delicious meat, and there is no other way to describe it! 

your second course could then very well include more bread, and we'd definitely pitch for the diavola over everything else. if you haven't figured from our other reviews already, we love spice, so goes without saying that diavola (with chilli oil no less) is our go-to. 

last and our favourite part - no visit to a pizzeria is complete without a tiramisu, so be nice to your tummy and share one with your loved one. just like we do every single time. 

rely on the service here, no matter how busy or chaotic the evening may seem! the friendly staff at vacanza are always so happy to look after each one of their customers.

truffle pizza was amazing and appreciated the thin crust bases that we’re truly italian. service was friendly unobtrusive. flavours were simple and not overdone, perfect.

wonderful place! the pizzas are delicious, wine is quality, atmosphere is lively and the service is excellent (especially the legendary mattia!).
highly recommended, worth while to reserve a table un advance.

been here twice and the pizza's here are definitely worth trying. pizzas are packed with flavour and just a party for the tastebuds. however, the only let down is that despite booking for the 2nd time, we were made to wait 30-40minutes and in the end placed to sit outside in the cold (had elderlies with us, external heaters were broken). staff didn't really seem apologetic and mindful. would have thought that booking would have meant a warm seat inside in a timely matter. would still come back but definitely hope vacanza learns to improve on booking management.

great pizzas here.. simple but so tasty! always busy and a good ambience here. staff are lovely and we definitely would come back and recommend this place to others.

i am italian and i went with other two italian friends two weeks ago. nice place, friendly staff (some, not all of them) and i love fela kuti in the background both times i have been, but unfortunately i am not a fun of their pizza. don't take me wrong, the ingredients are premium quality and it's wood-fire cooked, but it's not the kind of pizza i like. i love the neapolitan style - very thin and almost soggy in the middle, and the crust is lots of soft dough, with black of burnt spots here and there. the pizza at vacanza is thicker in the middle and too crispy/crunchy for our liking. again, it is not bad pizza, it's just not the pizza napoletana i'm used to and that i love so much. i think they changed their pizza (it was not like that the first time i went last year) to cater for the non-italian clientele, who i realised always complain about the pizza being too soggy for them...

after booking for two tonight, i was really disappointed to have to wait half an hour for our table to be ready. then to my surprise my partner and i were to be placed in the middle of a share table. talk about romantic. after taking a look at the table and realising we wouldn’t even be seated next to one another, we left. really disappointed in the restaurant that has ‘eating times’ and can’t stick to them. this establishment needs to step up.

what a joke!! we booked a table for 8:30 and didn’t get seated until 8:45. was overpacked and food was overpriced. avoid like the plague. it’s a
typical fashion show of a restaurant.

delicious traditional pizza that reminded us of our trip to italy. great margherita! lovely atmosphere and nice staff. would make a nice first date spot. couldn’t fault it.

the pizzas were really great and the table service was friendly, also it's byo. however, i made a booking for 8pm on friday night and was only given a table at 8:20pm. just would've been nice to have a table waiting, but i feel like even if you make a booking you still have to wait. inside is very noisy and dark, so if you want to have a proper conversation consider trying to sit outside, but maybe because it was a busy friday evening..

one of the few places in sydney i believe to have the authentic italian pizzeria experience. as soon as you enter you are warmly greeted by the charming italian server and seated. then you turn to observe the chef passionately preparing the dough. you then observe the restaurant; so vibrant. on your table is the usual spices plus olive oil to pour at will! how awesome. the pizzas are delicious and come at a reasonable time. also reasonably priced
