wood oven calzone & pizza. yummo! nice to have a place in the rio rancho area that makes things to order with fresh ingredients, you can taste the difference. we like things made from scratch not out of can so we love this place. parking is relative to how popular the place is, there is additional parking just west of the place.

fantastic. absolutely the best meal we've had in a long time. great handcrafted beers to try, delicious affordable food, great service. this place is what all those other wannabe pub places should aspire to be.

love turtle mountain. great atmosphere, great food and the beer selection is never boring and i like variety.

parking sucks for the crowds that it draws.

people are criticle of service but this place gets pretty busy. go in sit down order any beer and wait for your food it will be good when it gets there and i've never had a horrible experience with service however the beer and food make up for any sub par service due to crowds.

horrible place.. horrible policies, even worse owner.

i had gone in with a group of twenty that consisted of 8 different households. when we told her we would need separate checks, she told us it was policy not to split checks and let us know she was the only server in her section so she was going to be busy. she also pointed out on the back of the menu that we would be subject to a 25% gratuity charge. i am a server, i always tip at least 30%, but i feel that it should be my choice and a tip is a reflection of the service i received. doing a forced 25% is crazy. 18-20% is normal. she wouldn't do a basic thing like splitting checks but expected an above average tip. after arguing with the rude server about how we needed split checks and her being completely dismissive more than half of us decided not to eat there and we hung around while some of the family members had their dinner. the rest of us went to dion's afterwards and experienced amazing service. i wish this was the end of the story.

i know that at the restaurant i work at we always want to know if we've upset a guest so we know what we can do to fix it in the future. i decided i would send them an e-mail letting them know that their policies cost them at the minimum $200 that evening. what they don't realize is it is costing them thousands because we will all never return there ever again. the owner wrote me back saying i must not have told the server beforehand that we needed split checks, because they can do it if they're told first. he also told me that his servers have gotten screwed over with 15% tips with large parties and so they justify the 25% and they give their servers large sections so they can make money, so sometimes they're just too busy to do things like splitting checks. when i told him it seemed like his focus was his servers and not his customers, his response was

on the contrary. i trust my servers to be fair and reasonable. that's alot
more than we get from some of our customers.

i had not been rude, i was truly trying to be helpful. this guy is rude and the policies of this place is the proof that customer service is dying. i hope anyone planning on eating here thinks twice and goes to dion's instead.

number 1, no surprise.. at the urging of my son, a former grill cook, we dropped in for lunch. the service was warm and friendly, and fast. we ordered a burger, wow, did i say that so casually? what arrived was a perfectly cooked 80/20 1/2 lb. of grilled medium rare meat. presented on a house-made bun, it begs to be eaten, now. the first bite sets the tone for the meal. shoestring fries enhance the flavor of the burger reminding you why burger and fries is a perfect marriage. half a pound is a lot of meat topped with your choice of either all-american enhancements or a serious selection of new mexican variations. either way, or plain, the quality of meat plus the skill of the grill shine. i'm not so much into the pizza experience, but i have just begun to work my way through the menu. the way i figure, i should have eaten through to the back page by thanksgiving-which i celebrate weekly at turtle mountain.

first time, food was great!. just moved to the west side and thought we would give turtle mountain a try. atmosphere was great and staff was friendly. the first two types of beers i wanted to try were not available. i ended up trying a couple and would say that the beer is good but not great. certainly not as good as el vicino or marble or chama river local brews. the food on the other hand was wonderful. i got a pizza that was the best i have had anywhere in abq. the crust was chewy and crisp and the sauce was amazing, great fresh mushroom and very generous with the toppings. my wife got an italian sandwich wich was also very good and we split a great bowl on green chili stew. not the type of place i expected to have green chili stew that blew my top off, but was wonderful. we will be back for sure as the food was great, just hope that i can find a brew that is good to go with.

incomparable might be a good adjective for the pronounced roasted green chile taste you’ll find in all the turtle mountain’s pizzas. call it heresy if you will, but this restaurant’s pizzas are better than just about all duke city purveyors specializing in the thin-crust, gourmet ingredient genre.

decent place, good beer, decent brick oven style pizza. it's a decent place. i'm most happy when they have their hefeweizen (wheat beer) on tap. the pizza is on the thin/crispy crust side (no good if you like thick -bready crust). i get one with green chile and sun-dried tomatos. more often than not, there is a wait to get in.

friendly people, good beer, great value. what more could you ask for? oh, maybe good food? i was fortunate to sit next to some "locals" at the bar who raved about the tacos. couldn't find them anywhere on the menu--because they weren't. when in rome...

the tacos were very good; spicy but not too spicy, crispy, and fresh. i would get them again.

after my tmbc beers last night at the portly squirrel, i knew what i was in for. being a nanobrewer myself, i enjoy unusual beers, and the full beer menu didn't disappoint. the "steam" pale ale was fantastic (toffee and roasted malt notes--balanced with a good ibu), and the oatmeal ipa makes me want to brew my own in my next batch. imagine the smooth roundness of an oatmeal stout with the 70 ibus of a solid ipa. excellent.

the staff here is friendly and nonjudgemental, which i understand is not common in all the craftbreweries surrounding albequerque... i would go back and eat there again, which is the highest compliment i can pay a dining establishment.

great place!. turtle has an amazing menu and the beers are even better. i have never had a bad meal here. they are also extremely accommodating: you can get a pizza made into a calzon and visa versa. they also serve lunch size calzones if you can't put away they regular size which i refer to as giant size. the wait staff is on top of things and very quick. if you like extremely spicy food (which i don't) try the queso. the cheesy bread sticks and any of the salads are wonderful. the major drawback is there is usually a wait especially on the weekends. i usually have time to throw back a beer while waiting for the table. there is an excellent variety of micro-brews on tap, you can also get a bottled beer if you don't like good beer. i highly recommend you try this gem of a restaurant.

this is the best restaurant in rio rancho. i can't believe that they make their own cream soda and root beer. they have a massive menu, the food is delicious and the service is great.
