disappointment. i have been buying triangle hoagies for 40 years and i recently bought on may 6 abattleshipand destroyer. i was ashamed to share these hoagies with my company when i opened it, the destroyer i shared with a friend that has been sick and i am sure it was just as disappointing as mine. after i shared with my company i took a picture of what was left which was not much meat on the entire hoagie. there was litterly one strip of roast beef on the entire hoagie not to mention not much cornbeef either. i do not mind standing in line 15 to 20 minutes but i expect the hoagie to be worth the wait. i do think i deserve a decent hoagie since you have been in business for many years for your sandwiches. i hope this don't fall on deaf ears.

we called our order ahead and asked what was in the chicken salad sandwich. the response i got was mayo and chicken and celery. i specifically asked if there was any relish in it. they confirmed that there was not relish in the sandwich. i got thebattleshipsize to be split with a group of people. i got our order an there was some type of relish (pickle) inside the sandwich. everyone was very unhappy. we ended up throwing away the whole sandwich. there was also a steak sandwich that was ordered it was only to have pepers, onions, prov cheese, and italian dressing. it came with what we asked for and warm lettuce. needless to say that too went in the trash too! very unhappy and hungry customers.

the bar that makes that sandwich. get abattleshipis you want a 26 inch delicious sub/hoagie. or get the destroyer is you want half as much. but when you want a delicious italian sub go to the triangle. or you can order some of the other sandwiches perhaps a jumbo or roast beef. just don't miss it!

the triangle is one of those pittsburgh institutions that might just slip under your radar if you aren't a keen food fanatic. they've been running out of a dark and dirty bar in swissvale for over thirty years. this is not a foodie joint - the lack of blogger reviews and general knowledge amongst my generation indicate that it is a well kept pittsburgh secret that appeals to the older blue collar crowd. the subs are gigantic. no one was able to down an entirebattleship(23 inches.) i tried the fried boloney, the italian and the cheese steak (pictured above with banana peppers and joose!) the bread was soft and fresh, the meat was pretty good and the vegetable to meat/cheese/bread ratio was great. i think a lot of sub places give you too much bread, resulting in a crappy bread sandwich. i loved the cheese steak and the italian, but the fried baloney was the most original and interesting

brings back memories.... i've never stepped foot in the place, but my dad used to make special trips into swissvale just to get abattleshipsub and bring it back to the 'burbs for dinner.

the subs were awesome in size & taste.

i'll have to go out there some time!
