usually pretty busy but if you go after the peak lunch and dinner hour, theplaceis half filled and quite pleasant. i ordered the squid ink taglionlini and really enjoyed it.

got in really early to avoid the queue. thisplacecan get really busy on weekend nights! ordered a bottle of red, calamari, and two spaghetti dishes. the calamari was a bit bland. everything else was pretty good. and the tiramisu was like really really good!

amazing food and service! we heard so many good things about this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint.
arancini balls were divine and pasta was some of the best i have had. will definitely be a regularplacefor us to dine.

with plenty of good reviews tipo00 does not disappoint. all dishes from chef selection were excellent. staff attentive and friendly. nice cosy atmosphere. wonderfulplaceto take your partner. one of the best italian restaurants in melbourne.

🍒 food - the food here was great! i’ve heard a lot of good things about tipo00 and the food definitely lived up to its expectations. special highlights were the ox tongue, risotto w/ morton bay bug, squid ink pasta and tiramisu. all round, the pastas were cooked al dente and tasted lovely. whilst a bit expensive, definitely a goodplaceto visit for some quality pasta and when you want to treat yourself every now and then.

🍈 service - the waiters were super nice and friendly and made sure we were well looked after. unfortunately though, the kitchen service was quite slow today and we waited almost an hour between our entrees and our first mains.

🥑 ambience - theplaceis quite small and cute with an extensive wine wall. a greatplaceto go with a small group of friends or for a date night.

wth! it took me 2 months to get a table reservation.. i don't mind waiting that long if food's good. unfortunately, this high-profile restaurant didn't meet my expectation. i had gnocchi di patate, tagliolini al nero, and tipomisu. gnocchi was fluffy and came with savory braised duck and squid ink pasta was cooked to perfection with refreshing lemony kick. they were all decent, well-balanced dishes... just not as impressive as i anticipated. i found them dull and service definitely had some room for improvement. i personally wouldn't recommend thisplace- felt like it's hyped up too much

went into this restaurant as a group of 8 people. the food here is amazing and hands down one of the best in melbourne. the only thing is thisplaceis small, so you just got to sit in oneplaceand not move around.
the winning dish for me was definitely the burrata, it was so creamy and soft. make sure to order it, as you won't be tasting anything like that anywhere else. we also had the grilled ox tongue, balsamic & pink peppercorns which was flavourful but it was a bit on the dry side.
then we had the squid ink tagliolini, squid & bottarga which i loved and thought it was well executed. polenta fritta – crunchy rosemary chips which were a crowd favourite.
gnocchi di patate – braised duck, porcini & pecorino pepato was the best gnocchi i have ever tasted, it was soft as a pillow and melting in the mouth, make sure to order it, as itis hands down the best gnocchi.
for desserts, we had tipomisù – chocolate, coffee & mascarpone which is kind of like a deconstructed tiramisu and bomboloni – ricotta doughnuts, strawberry & lemon.
we had a few vegetarians in the group, so the menu was catered to suit everyone.

it was quite busy at lunchtime, but it was a great meal and i love how cosy theplaceis. our waitress on the day was incredibly quick, had memorized all the specials and was professional. big tip for a job well done.

absolutely peak dining experience across the board. i’ve started to lose count on how many pasta dishes i’ve consumed at thisplacethis year. nothing (so far) in melbourne can match tipo 00 in their pasta quality.

really can’t go wrong with any of their menu choices. my partner and i usually opt to get 3 main dishes with a couple of entrees and the tipomisu dessert (one of my favourite sweets of all time).
while my partner indulges in her favourite squid-ink tagliolini, i lean towards either pappardelle (which is seasonal i assume) or their tagliatelle. the third main dish we usually share between us is usually a risotto or one of their specials of the day.


there’s a reason thisplaceis booked out most of the week. if you are a lover of pasta or risotto then tipo 00 needs to be at the top of your list for must-try eateries.

by far one of the best italian experiences i've had in melbourne. the food is not cheap but well worth the price tag. i recently sat at the bar which is actually quite nice at this intimate venue. i enjoyed a complimentary started of bread with basil ricotta followed by the creamiest burrata served on toast with green peas and puree. that was great, but the real highlight was my cheese tortellini with earthy sorrel leaves and a sauce that made me want to lick the plate clean. thisplaceis popular for a reason.

thisplacehas a great reputation. we were very excited to visit. the first thing i had noticed upon entering the venue was how uncomfortably loud the environment was. so much so that did found myself nearly yelling at my party. not your intimate, romantic bowl of pasta, candle-lit italian restaurant. the food however was solid. not the best i’ve had, but maybe worth revisiting. maybe on a quieter night?

finally get to try thisplaceafter hearing so much about it. we casually drop in for a weekday late lunch and was told there will be about 1 hour wait which we ended up waiting at the coffee shop nearby. the pasta dishes are really good, fresh and tasty. their appetisers on the other hand is pretty average tasting without much wow factor. service feels a bit intimidating, the waiter seems to have cold attitude which kinda ruined the dining experience.
