worth a second, third, fourth, fifth trip. it's hard to decide what toorderhere. savory (b'fast burrito? eggs w/carne adovada?) or sweet (blue corn waffle boat with fresh fruit and whipped cream)? a tasty and unusual compromise is the blue corn waffle topped with eggs and chile. it's delicious. the tea offerings are good; the water's hot enough, which is unusual; the coffee is great--i love the breve. the only thing i've had for lunch so far is the new mexico po' boy, which has killer carne adovada, fritos, and pickled jalapeños. wicked good. oh, and for people who love soda (i don't), there are more than 100 kinds of bottled soda pop. cute atmosphere, free wi-fi, dog-friendly patio.

tia betty's has to be one of the most frustrating dining experiences in burque. the food is delicious and consistency is not. 3 out of 5 drive thru/pick up orders have been made incorrectly or missing food. sunday morning running errands, beautiful morning, place a call inorderat 9:15 since i hadn't been to my neighborhood splurge in a while since myorderis always wrong....order isn't ready until 9:40....driving home thinking this is really going to be worth the wait. bacon forgotten!!! how can you forget the bacon?! i sure was charged for it. so annoying. called the manager and he offered to pay for my breakfast next time. honestly, i doubt i will be back at this point. whenever my coworkers want to go, i say no let's do copper canyon instead....bummer to an almost perfect morning. womp womp. 😒 the flip side is the people are generally very nice and the food is freaking good but starting to question my patronage. my recommendation: shut the drive thru down if you just can't get it right. 👌🏽consistently and service can ruin some tasty grub!!

april 13, 2015 by kristin satterlee leave a comment the big burrito stuffed with calabacitas and smothered with red and green this is another one of those “i can’t believe i didn’t share it earlier” reviews. tia betty blue’s opened about three years ago on a neglected stretch of san mateo not far from gibson, in a two-story building that used to house a cleaning business. it was a surprise to see someone try a restaurant there, where one of the most notable nearby landmarks is k-bargain plaza, a derelict strip mall. of course, the location of michael thomas seemed equally strange when it first opened on a similarly unpromising section of carlisle, and look how that went ! perhaps the benefits of the two spots are as similar as their downsides, because both are sandwiched between residential neighborhoods hungry for tasty options nearby. i know i appreciate both of them being within walking distance of my house. in any case, though i appreciated tia betty blue’s tasty food when they opened, that was around the time when i was developing the achalasia that made it hard for me to swallow – and spicy food was particularly challenging for me – so we didn’t go there much. since my surgical fix, though, i’ve been having regular cravings for red chile. (odd, since i’d always been a green-chile gal before.) particularly, i’ve been wanting to eat at tia betty blue’s. tia bb’s – as we call it at my house – calls out to me with a siren song of delicious, plentiful new mexican food in a quirky, retro-hipster atmosphere. the menu hangs on the wall to the side of the register on huge laminated sheets, and can sometimes be hard to see around the line waiting toorderat the counter. there are take-out menus by the register, which may be easier to read if you can reach in and snag one. there are a lot of choices, so it’s nice to be able to take your time with the menu. tia betty blue’s does a great job with classic new mexican food, like their $4 breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs,

singing the blues. sorry to be singing the blues about this restaurant. it is my first not-so-exuberant review, but i feel this must be said. you stand in line toorderand pay, neither of which would be a problem if they kept proper track of your order. theordertaker was on the phone taking anorderwhen it was our turn at the front of the line, and it turned out this was an important factor in the service we received. our first hint of problems was when the food deliverer attempted to deliver at our table, based upon theordernumber on theorderplaque we'd been given and was standing on our table. but the food wasn't ours, instead was the food at the next table, people who had sat down after we had sat down. then the waiter took our number plaque!! he showed us the take-outorderthat appeared to have mixed things up, and then he gave us a newordernumber plaque. we assumed he'd run to the kitchen and tell them to do ourorderimmediately since we had not been duly served. apparently not so...we waited and waited. finally my husband went downstairs. there was no one in line at all and he talked to the woman who had taken ourorderin the first place. she said "oh, are you the ones who ordered take-out and then changed your minds and ate in?" absolutely not! finally, the server brought our food up, apologized, brought more coffee, and after we had finished eating the big plate of food he offered to buy us dessert. sorry, people, we've heard that one before: offer something at a point after which you'd never accept anyway. the food was great, but we won't go again because of the service. there are too many other options out there.

bad service, gross food, and horrible ambiance! my sister and i decided to try this place for the first time. we ordered on right after the other. we waited about 30min to get my food and another 20min to get her food. when i got my food myordercame out wrong. i sent it back and continued to wait another 30min. their blue corn tortillas and flower tortillas are store bought and their chili's are far from delightful. bad food, bad service, and horrible ambiance.

new mexican food....fast --not!. the ew place, new decor and new signs got my wife and me to try this place since we were in a hurry. the big blue sign on the outside says, "new mexican food ... fast." the line only had 3 people in front of us when we got there... but took 10 minutes to get to our order. got our fountain sodas (vice the high-priced bottles) and immediately noticed they were flat and over-saturated with the flavoring. the gal in the kitchen took them back to refill them after she changed the co2 bottle. 5 minutes later she came back and offered a bottled soda because they were out of co2. ok, not so bad. however 30 minutes later, we still had no food. i stuck my head in the kitchen and asked where ourorderwas and she said it was up next (despite having the people that were 5 folks behind us in the line already eating their meals). so, i asked for it to go. 5 minutes later, we finally got our food. i dropped her off at work and i went back to mine and wouldn't you know, my wife sends me a text saying she must've grabbed my food cause she got what i ordered... nope, i got mine... they just made 2 identical boxes of food despite my wife special ordering completely different with their gluten free chili and no cheese. so, there... i tried it and will never be back. 50 minutes is not fast and the only flavor in the food was the fritos and overpowering paprika of the carne asada.
