st leonards, sydneywe were lucky enough to attend the wooden whisk café on the corner of albany & oxley sts st leonards.this café is exceptional. the takeout meals are just as appealing as the dine in meals and their coffee is one of the best brews we have tasted. their coffee is soul origin and is roasted over a 12 day cycle in our own surry hills in sydney. coffee is taken seriously here. this is apparent when you take the first sip. we would go out of our way to have a coffee from wooden whisk and from the number of patrons i observed ordering takeout coffee, we are not the only ones. upon arrival we were greeted by sean (the owner) who ushered us to a table. the atmosphere was cosmopolitan, warm and welcoming and at the same time energetic and lively.  he gave us the menus and also explained the specials board. i ordered a mixed fruit juice made by sean while we pondered over the menu. there was such a wide choice.

brunch is a pricey affair around sydney these days, so it’s always refreshing to find cafes that serve up quality food at decent prices. one such cafe is the wooden whisk in st leonards, which is quite unexpected considering it’s on the lower north shore, but this unassuming cafe tucked away downstairs from street really does deliver. there’s a bit of a crowd when we drop by on a saturday morning, but luckily the queue moves quite quickly.

the wooden whisk in st leonard’s is the intersection for those on their way to work caught in the morning rush, those on their second coffee run for the day, locals who call this café home and general breakfast lovers in search of a decent feed.

one of the best cafe's in crows nest. coffees were great, food good & fresh! atmosphere is great & staff are just lovely. was so hard to find a decent coffee in sydney, let alone crows nest but the wooden whisk was up there. very popular therefore can get really busy on a weekend so get in early or you might have to wait for a little while & the staff are more than happy to welcome you. worth the wait!

i have been here twice now when i've had to run work errands etc.

this place is located at the bottom of a building sort of like a pop up store, however, they do have indoor and outdoor seating.

the first thing that caught my eye was a sign for smoothies! i love smoothies!

i believe it was their breakfast smoothie with banana, blueberries, oats, honey and milk that got me! and by golly was it delicious.

they also have ready made salads on offer, such as caesar, roast beef with cous cous and tandoori chicken (i cant remember the other ones) with sandwiches as well.

great place to get a freshly made smoothie!

such a gem!. i have finally gotten around to writing a review on this place! we have been here quite a few times and every time it is just amazing! even when it is busy (which it often is) the service is sharp and you are never left waiting long. the food is always amazing and incredibly reasonably priced for the portion size and quality ingredients. great atmosphere also.

fantastic!

it only gets better!. i have been a regular customer for over one year and every time i go back the quality and consistence impresses me even more. the coffee is delicious as well as the food - my favorites are the 'breakfast grazing board' and 'the sautéed field mushrooms' , yummy! the service overall is very nice and efficient - there is only one staff member who i couldn't call the most friendly type, but nothing able to affect the great quality of one of my favorite brekky places in town.

my trusty benchmark, eggs benedict hits the mark here with a choice of bacon, ham, mushroom, spinach or smoked salmon. the classic is dressed in a rich and creamy housemade hollandaise and sits on a toasted muffin that is still soft on the inside but crispy on the edges.

rude customer service. arrived to a busy cafe at 8am on a friday morning, with no tables available. we told the wait staff we would like a table, but since they had a large booking due in, the only free space was reserved. so we ordered coffee in takeaway cups - which seemed our only option. while waiting for our coffee, a table came available, so we sat down with our coffees - only to be told asked a second later by a waiter if we were leaving with our 'takeaway' coffees - i attempted to explain what had happened, but got a rude response from the waiter that other people wanted tables! i guess since they'd already received our money, customer service was not a high priority (and they wrongly assumed we were not going to order anything else). it was embarrassing to essentially be kicked out of the cafe. will not be returning again.

i forgotten how i found out about this place, but i’m always on the look out for brunch destinations north of the cbd. i made the effort to come to the wooden whisk on a rainy saturday morning, with the promise of good food, and 2 hours of free parking at the pole ln carpark nearby. luckily the rain cleared up for us on our walk to the cafe. coffee; a must.   kale crave: kale, cucumber, apple, mint, $6.20 mr. auie has been ordering these kale juices pretty much every time he spots them on the menu. not sure if on a health bender or just trying to look like it. but it is reported to being one of the better mixes that he has tasted as of late; refreshing way to start the morning. i’m pretty sure the kitchen staff were partly psychic as we got both our orders of coffee and juice within, dare i say, one minute of ordering them. the way to a brunch eater’s heart is coffee on demand! wooden whisk breakfast, $16.90 two free range eggs, bacon, sausage, sautéed mushrooms, tomato, black pudding,

i fell in love with the sandwiches i had on my first visit almost 2 years ago. but i honestly never paid much attention to the store design or the layout itself. but this 2nd visit, really made me notice how nice of an interior wooden whisk had. after my first sip of the chai latte, i definitely got even more excited to try the food i had ordered! chai latte $3.80 definitely one of my most favourite hot chocolate ever ordered. above all, you also get the rich taste of the chocolate drizzle. hot chocolate $3.80 as soon as this dish arrived, i knew i wasn’t expecting any less. the dish itself looked so good, i honestly didn’t want to dig in because it was just so beautifully plated. i’m glad the salmon was as crispy as it looked because it was the main element of this dish. being beautifully cooked, it definitely made the dish a standout. although, i think there was too many of the pearl cous cous. a little less would have been perfect. there was just
