the winey cow

shocked and appalled by the service provided to its customers- a real lesson on how not to run a small business. there are much nicer cafes in the area that i would recommend visiting well before this terrible place!

a perfectly-worded pun for the name of this cafe restaurant along the mornington peninsula. staff are friendly, the air smells like sea breeze, atmosphere is bustling and food is delicious. for breakfast/brunch, their range of avocado dishes is impressive, particularly the spanner crab and smoked salmon option. for lunch, their main meals are generous in portion size and flavour. the open, superfood sandwich was filling yet made you feel "super" after eating it; pair it with haloumi cheese, and you have yourself a winner! for dinner, their meals are just as impressive; but come the winter months, you'll see me back again to try their highly recommended gnocchi dish!

tried their red velvet waffle, somehow pretty disappointing, should have made the syrup better, not much filling but after all, not too bad!

overpriced. regardless of the 30 minute wait, i got completely overcharged for a side of feta cheese.
i was under the impression a few small cubes of feta cheese would be classified as a normal side which was reasonably priced, and then as i got up to pay i was told i would have to pay $5 for a few cubes of feta! correct me if i'm wrong but i should have been told about this before i ordered. ridiculous.

we love the winey cow. my husband and i escaped the city for the weekend, we decided to go to the peninsula.
we left our accommodation and headed for main st mornington, we hadn't made a dinner booking anywhere we just wanted to end up somewhere unexpected, it looked like the winey cow was where we ended up from the moment we were greeted at the door by a charming young man i knew we were in for a good night he sat us down and explained their menu. we ordered our bottle of wine and shared a meat & cheese board from here on we sat back and enjoyed the night my husband's sirloin steak and my gnocchi were so tasty we couldn't fault it oh and that quealy shiraz is to die for!!! all our needs were taken care of we didn't have to ask for a thing. before we left on sunday we decided to go back for breakfast just to try their day menu because we had such a good night friday night the young man was their again, he remembered us and made us feel soo welcome all we want as being the customer is to be remembered and to have a great time while we are out 'the winey cow' did this for us.
can not wait too come back!!

we engaged the winey cow to cater for our training course and to say we were highly impressed and delighted with their amazing service and delicious food would be an understatement! all the staff were friendly and nothing was ever a problem. their attention to detail and punctuality was of the highest standard. such a wonderful team, who truely deliver the goods! highly recommend their catering and will definitely be using their service again.

came here on a day out with my partner and managed to get a seat outside.

the coffees we ordered we really good. no sugar needed in my strong latte which is always a win!

the menu is amazing! and the addition of the photo menu using the qr code is a fantastic idea!!

we ordered the pork bao burger and benedict. my burger was awesome! and her breakfast was delicious too!

the prices are a little on the high side with the added surcharge on weekends, but overall, great food, great menu, great coffee, will probably visit again!

always perfect tasting food!. i have been here any times and have never had a bad meal, or bad service. it's child friendly too which is a plus. love the asparagus breakfast dish... you must try it. this is my fav in mornington!

okay takeaway coffee. lots of outdoor tables. good spot on the middle of the main street. opened much earlier than most other cafes in the area

a small local restaurant with exceptional customer service. our waitress (jessica) was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious!! we will definitely visit again ❤️

staff are lovely, quick service. plenty of outdoor seating. locals are very friendly and moved (without asking) so i could get my pram through. street is very quiet on a tuesday morning so even though i’m sitting next to the road it’s not a bother at all. cafe is full too!! crowd is perfect 20’s - 40’s. it’s quite cold this morning. 9.30am and 5 degrees, but the outdoor heaters were on which was great.

food: i had the norwegian breakfast 10/10!

came for brunch with a friend. yummy food. staff were happy & friendly. nice outdoor seating. dog-friendly. would definitely come back again.

we got the chicken bao but it was actually just a white burger bun. very flat and not fluffy like bao should be. chicken over cooked and stringy. no flavour. probs the worst bao/burger i’ve ever had. chips were cold because food was sitting up on kitchen counter for at least 5mins before staff finally went and got it. literally 3 staff just standing around talking at the front. chips had no flavour even though they were suppose to be 7 spice chips.... tasted like frozen chips from the supermarket. so expensive for bad food and service. will not go back.

a great spot to stumble on into on a lovely morning i say. first things first - good coffee. the food was great and that goes for the whole group i was with (even with their chicken waffles). i got a try at the vegan burger and vegan brekkie bowl (looks like their menu has evolved from the one on this zomato page at the moment) - both were flavoursome! the overall vibe a happy space, loud and busy. the staff had enough time to share a laugh with you and were full of smiles. next time i’m up the mornington way i’ll plan on a return visit for sure.
