it devastates me to do this, but i had a pretty ordinary experience.

arrived and the lovely girl promptly told us to sit at a table and said she would bring menus and water to us. we chose to sit outside on a beautiful autumn day. we soon discovered that the lovely girl wasn't the server in our area and happily showed new customers to the tables inside and got them water and menus promptly. the server in the outside area, avoided eye contact with me when i tried to wave her down to get some menus. about 10 minutes had passed with no menus or water. the server noticed some of her friends sitting next to us. she came over to them and decided to have a chat. fed up, i picked up some menus from a nearby 'reserved' table.

eavesdropping on her conversation, which was 2 feet away, she told her friends about some of the 'shit' customers she had this morning. what seemed like eternity, especially after spending 15 minutes (not exaggerating), she said to her friends that she should probably get back to 'work'. she had her back to every customer in the area, not just us. she turned to us and asked for our order, no apologies for keeping us waiting. we also asked for some water, which we never got until another server had delivered our drinks. she happily served other customers with their food and drinks but she did not deliver one thing to us or asked how we were going.

i'm not a grumpy person, i give everyone a
go and understand that sometimes people may have bad days, but she seemed happy to see her friends, however had a very poor attitude with her customers, which reflected in the conversation she had with her friends.

i sound like awineycow after this scathing review. i hope this girls attitude has changed as would love to go there again with a more positive experience.

highly recommended!!! today was my first time visiting thewineycow, i had the braised cow and my boyfriend had thewineypig, couldn't fault in any way, as the whole meal complimented itself! very fulfilling, very good! and lovely service, can proudly say we will be back!! 11/10

we love thewineycow. my husband and i escaped the city for the weekend, we decided to go to the peninsula.
we left our accommodation and headed for main st mornington, we hadn't made a dinner booking anywhere we just wanted to end up somewhere unexpected, it looked like thewineycow was where we ended up from the moment we were greeted at the door by a charming young man i knew we were in for a good night he sat us down and explained their menu. we ordered our bottle of wine and shared a meat & cheese board from here on we sat back and enjoyed the night my husband's sirloin steak and my gnocchi were so tasty we couldn't fault it oh and that quealy shiraz is to die for!!! all our needs were taken care of we didn't have to ask for a thing. before we left on sunday we decided to go back for breakfast just to try their day menu because we had such a good night friday night the young man was their again, he remembered us and made us feel soo welcome all we want as being the customer is to be remembered and to have a great time while we are out 'thewineycow' did this for us.
can not wait too come back!!

we engaged thewineycow to cater for our training course and to say we were highly impressed and delighted with their amazing service and delicious food would be an understatement! all the staff were friendly and nothing was ever a problem. their attention to detail and punctuality was of the highest standard. such a wonderful team, who truely deliver the goods! highly recommend their catering and will definitely be using their service again.

another delicious lunch with great service at thewineycow today. both my mum and i had the vegan burger and it was - again - perfect. a tasty crunchy burger made with corn, a beetroot bun, vegan aioli, avocado and fries. substantial and so tasty. so many vegan options which is wonderful. we both as a soy iced coffee which was spot on too. the service for is and my dogs was flawless! my favourite lunch spot in mornington.

spent a lovely friday morning atwineycow. food was delivered speedily with great service. each dish had so many different components to it that worked harmoniously together. slightly on the pricey side however.

thewineycow 🐄 been on a bit of a break on the peninsula and the cafes did not disappoint 😊 menu had a unique variety of selections 👌 highly recommend the 'three little pigs' dish for something different ✊ 7/10 for taste, coin and its uniqueness 😊

i am an experienced cafe operator and the experience my wife and i received at your cafe was one of best we have had. the customer service was outstanding from the moment we were greeted at the front door through to the smiling waiter. the timing of the food coming out was spot on and the cold drip and prana chai were perfect. the staff were friendly, looked you in the eye and we were made to feel valued. this was pretty close to food service utopia.

so many options for breakfast in the mornington strip of shops but something made us stop that day to thewineycow. our waitress was so lovely and even did a meal check which just doesn’t seem to common in some establishments recently which is a shame. eggs were poached beautifully, the muesli was delicious however had too much turmeric which kind of overpowered the dish at times, so worth the kitchen adjusting their amounts in future! great vibes coming from this place. note: dishes are quite pricey.

i chose to brunch at thewineycow as a result of walking past countless times, practically drooling over the sight of the food. unfortunately, the positivity ends here.. clearly the staff rely upon the saying ‘we eat with our eyes’ and the saying only.. the flavours lacked balance and, embarrassingly, basic seasoning. overall, this cafe is overrated and will leave you dissatisfied.

usually it's a good sign when a café is jam packed and you actually have to wait for a table. however, i quickly learnt that this is not always the case if you are heading somewhere down mornington main street in the peak of summer. whilst filled to the brim, thewineycow was, in a word, "disappointing". i ordered the 'brunch stack', which consisted of two poached eggs, bacon, potato rosti, avocado and haloumi with rocket and lemon hollandaise. unfortunately, the eggs were rock hard (not even a tiny bit runny), the rosti floury and the worst part, the avocado didn't even taste like real avocado - it tasted like the cheap avocado dip you can get from the supermarket.

went towineycow for lunch with my husband and son for a quick bite today. son had the waffles which were beautiful ! disappointed when the waitress accidentally spilt a glass of wine all over me which she was extremely apologetic about and i thought we were extremely nice and understanding in return but thought we could of at least had our coffees on the house but no paid full price for the lot. local who won't be going back in hurry customer service is everything in business!

this is a lovely cafe with delectable brunch options. we have been here a number of times and are yet to be disappointed! we enjoyed the matcha and coconut panacotta in the good mornington however the kiwi fruit gel was a little strange tasting. the ocean trout was delicious with crispy skin and a refreshing salad. what we love most about thewineycow is the rooibos latte (red latte). however it depends on the barista making it because the last time we went, the latte was too weak and too cold. overall a great cafe to stop by if road tripping down to the peninsula.

winey cow or miserable sow??
well as a local, we often have a coffee here, and normally service is just ok, nothing special, however today, after specifically asking for the coffees to be extra hot, they took well over 15 mins to get to us, and guess what!! - they were at best luke warm tpo cool.
i suppose we could have asked for them to be redone, and wait another 15 mins, which isnt possible when you are on your break, so on paying i mentioned that we had specifically asked for extra hot, and got an 'oh well you should have said something' and an attitude,and no appology, think the guy was the manager or owner.
very sad, obviously doesnt give a hoot about local trade, and dont i feel foolish wishing him and his business all the best when it first opened.
